What are "plastic Brits"?

I assume they are referring to inverse Lewis Hamilton’s who live in UK because gambling winnings are tax free?

Yes. Foreign nationals either living in the UK or claiming to.

Do we have proof they are doing this, or are we making that assumption?

Could be second or third generation immigrants

I think tikay is sourcing from the THM listing, which now allows you to list a country of origin in addition to a country of residence.

Don't have proof, no, it was an assumption based on available facts & I still think it's probably correct.

Specifically mentioned as "plastic Brits" were Florian Duta, who, according to THM is of Romanian nationality, currently residing in Birmingham, & Robert Heidorn, a German national currently living in London.

As 4kSuited notes, THM now lists Nationality, country of birth & current residence as we see here for Duta & Heidorn.

The third example in the report for that day was Laurids Nielsen, who WSOP list as being from United Kingdom, but THM have him as born & still living in Ireland. I have no idea what the situation is with him.

Just feels a bit distasteful. Are we calling Kevin Pietersen, Jo Konta and Andrew Strauss "plastic Brits" too?

Countries and nationalties are artificial constructions made to divide people.

How about just cheering for good guys and hissing at bad guys no matter where their parents happened to shag?

Woodsey there is no need for that. Please, Keith was much missed, he comes back and gets abused.

You can disagree with him but absolutely no need to be so rude.

Think Keith has just got the wrong end of the stick.

There are loads of poker players that move here because they don't have to cough up a bundle in taxes (Pads can probably confirm if I'm talking bollocks).

Tikay just talking about them in that context, and not cheering or hissing.

Be temperate and don't use that language. You are a nicer guy that that irl, no excuse to behave like that on here.

I knew exactly what he was fishing for after his first comment. Looking to call someone racist when there was no reason to do so. Needs calling out imo....

It's no more or less than that.

Nothing sinister or distasteful was intended. The guy that writes these Updates has done it every day for nearly 7 weeks now, & barely a soul has bothered to thank him. It's a big ask to write this stuff every day for over 40 days, tens of thousands of words, at least 2 hours of work every day, 7 days a week, so I think it behoves us to cut him some slack & not assume the worst. He has nothing against those from elsewhere, he's just doing updates from a GB perspective.

Most of us that read these updates look for the guys from GB, because it's likely we know them. That's the top & bottom of it.

We get to count the ones from Gabon and Ukraine, though, right?

Always a few of them in the overnight chipcounts

I can't control how you read it Keith, but I know the author very well & it was certainly not intended to be distasteful.

Tough to write as much as he has without giving offence these days I suppose.
