Gutted. A proper gent, and always liked to live life to the full.

Hadn't seen him for ages, and now regret that. Thoughts with Ger Jr and Marie.

RIP Big Man.

I’ve just been revisiting Ger’s blog on the APAT Forum

Sadly a lot of posts were lost a few years back, but what was saved and restored retains the beauty of the man.

The link takes you to straight to P5 and one of his reminiscences of his youth

R.I.P. Ger Smyth ❤ . An APAT legend who welcomed me into the APAT family as if I'd always been there. A gentle bear of a man who always cared for everyone he knew. An APAT legend who will be sorely missed by all far and wide. My thoughts, love and hugs go to Gerard Smyth, Marie Hart and all his family and friends. A sad day.

This is such terrible news - Ger was such a big-hearted guy and was the life and soul of APAT events.

Big Ger was great fun at the old Blonde Bashes, so sad to hear he's gone.

I'll always remember his NFL drinks orders.

I couldn't post in here at the time because it hurt a lot, Ger was one of my best friends in poker.

For those who don't follow APAT, Des Duffy did an absolutely wonderful tribute video to Ger back in April, with a lot of comments from those of us who knew him well. Very much worth a watch. It can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/des.duffy.4/videos/294932652647577/ and it's approximately 14 minutes into the show, but tbh I'd just watch from the start.
