Got a pretty sweet deal on Vegas for later this year, but it did take a lot of advance planning....

My daughter turns 21 in December, and since she was little we've talked of going to Vegas for her birthday.

About 18 months ago I signed up for the reward+ credit card which gives a pretty hefty points bonus for a certain spend in the first year, plus a companion/upgrade voucher. Also signed up to virgin red which effectively gives double points (at least) for purchases made through there on things you might be buying anyway (eg Just Eat).

When the day came round that the flights for our dates were released I had enough points to pay for a PE ticket for myself, and the companion voucher to use for Hannah's flight. We just had to pay taxes (which were pretty eye watering at £500 and change each).

Hotel is completely gratis - not been to Vegas for around five years but not paid for a room on my last few trips thanks to MGM Rewards (previously MLife). I'm not a high stakes gambler but a couple of hundred a day in the slots at MGM properties will give you plenty of comp room offers (usually 4 nights) - just need to log into your account to see what's available.

Whilst I'm here, any recommendations for fun nightspots where a 21 year old and a 48 year old will be equally comfortable would be happily received Smiley

Brill, a long time in the anticipating so hopefully you and Hannah have a blast.

Almost any cirque de soleil show is a good night out
A reasonably priced dinner at battistas ihole in the wall -Italian food - at the back of Ballys /flamingo

I just renewed the virgin fee card £160 per annum gets you 15 k miles spend £3 k in 3months get another 15 k
30 k airmiles in a sale is about £400 so it seems like a good deal
Then cancel it again in 11.5 months before the next £160 fee

Like you we booked PE for next May 27 th to 16 th June to vegas for £540 each plus 100 k miles and an upgrade
If we had bought them at full price they would have been £3300

Can casino-hop (and earn next year's offers) playing tables.  The drinking game of choice (= as long as you are still sober enough to see your cards) was always Pai Gow.  Now there's a lot of face-up Pai Gow available where the dealer sets their hand first, managed some sessions there with my daughter, very hard (but not impossible Sad  ) to lose much, table service drinks pretty quick and then hop to next place.

Beer Bark (Paris) and Brewdog both with decent rooftop bars, various bar games on offer, not sure about that in Dec tho.

Some reasonable tribute acts playing lounges with cheap tickets, duelling piano bars (eg NYNY) quite good for an easy night out.  Casino lounge bars such as Heart in PH can be quite lively.  Usual show tickets, some free or discount on MyVegas.  After that, I guess its full on nightspots, not really my thing.

Have a great time, enjoy your daughter's 21st, she looks beautiful.
