So, sorry about the shorter updates last couple of days. Felt right to keep the absolute full focus.
So, our downfall from chip peak effectively came from running into Kings twice, with AQ and AJ respectively.
The second, to Ben Heath, I think I am fine with. The first is in the category of, I would do the same again, but am not fully convinced.
At 80k BB and 7 handed, UTG raises to 200k from 1.35m (17 bigs).
Folded round to my small blind, where I have
, and have him well covered.
Here are my thoughts
- Most crucially, I don't know who it is. American, about 45. I would put him somewhere around average.
- He has 1.35m, but actually when asked by Heath, before he folded, and said '1.2 or 1.3.' There are two different elements to this. Firstly, it is significant that he doesn't know his stack. Secondly, if he thinks he has 15 or 16 bigs, I am actually playing against whatever my perception is of his 15-16bb range, rather than the 17bb he does have
- What is the chance that the reality is that his choice to raise, and not go all in, means he is always massive? AA, KK, QQ? It's definitely possible. However, what is inconsistent with this is his large sizing to 200k. You would think it more likely that someone who did want to go for value with the absolute top of range, would do so with the min sizing.
I think, especially with the inconsistent larger sizing, that it all added up to being random enough, that it was more likely the case that this sizing was all of his hands (I.e. that he had no shoves), or at least part of a random group of hands that would just put in a raise to 200k
When I saw the Kings, I did think, have I just walked into an obvious trap here? But, maybe not.
Anyway, no big regrets. On the flight back, with WiFi, now
Thanks again guys
