hmmm just checked a map. Galsgow Prestwick Airport is as close to Glasgow as Stansted is to London. I will pay a bit more with easyjet for the glasgow airport and shorter cab ride.

For those who need to know...

Prestwick isnt so bad. Yes, it is actually in ayrshire, but it has its own dedicated train station with a regular service to glasgow central. The journey only takes about 35-40 minutes.

Lazaroonie I don't suppose you know how much it is do you? If that way is much cheaper I would do it, but for the sake of an extra tenner I could go straight to Glasgow? Thanks Smiley

fair enough but the cost differance is £31 vs £56 for glasgow international. I'll go direct!
40 minutes on a train, no thank you....

edit - the ryan air flight means i get a lie in on saturday i need a rethink dammit!

British Airways are actually cheaper than Easyjet at the mo, for 2 adults:

Easyjet: £154
BA: £136

But I have noticed that Easyjets prices get lower every day, don't really want to take the risk of the flights selling out though!

British airways is a much better flight and you will get a sarnie and drinks on the flight which you dont need to pay for ( its included ). Also worth mentioning BA have much better customer service.

From Glasgow Airport its about £15 back to the city in an airport Taxi, if your coming on the Friday afternoon it takes about 30 minutes to get into city with traffic.

Saturday shouldn't be as bad but still takes 20 minutes or so.

Prestwick is a much smaller airport with trains direct to Glasgow Central for £3.25 return

Overall IMO as a frequent flyer between Glasgow and London prestwick is a far better option.

FAO Prestwich travelers:

If you are landing at Prestwick and heading into glasgow via train, the price is: £5.40 ( www.thetrainline.com )

As an addition, if you retain your flight confirmation details, and show them to the train conductor, you get 50% of the train fare, so it will only cost you £2.70

the duration of the train jurney is 00:44 hrs and takes you direct to Glasgow Central

PS sorry tighty but the stakes will need to be incredibley higher if you want to see me in RFC's shirt, no matter how good he smells!

I thought I'd share my travel arrangements in case it helps anyone.
I can't get anytime off work so have to fly in on saturday and leave sunday, its the main event only for me. I found a Ryan Air flight (411) from Stansted (15mins from my front door yeah) on saturday 11:55 landing at Galsgow Prestwick (Boo means a train ride) at 13:05 cost £16.37. Train cost less than a fiver i've read from other posts. I guess I can get to the club by 3pm-ish? Anyway I plan on playing through the night and not bothering with a hotel!
My outbound flight is from Glasgow Airport with SLEasyjet (flight 212) at 09.15 Sunday. They do Pre-printed boarding passes for this so I dont have to check in, I just need to be there at 09:00 latest. Cost £18.99.
Total Airfair Cost £35.36! Train and taxis sunday cost estimate £20. Hotel cost zero!
So no one should use the cost of travel as an excuse, what a bargin! I spend 60 notes a week on diesel for flips sake.
See you all there.
