Guys,

First of all not sure if this belongs here or on hands analysis.  Apologies if this is wrong section.

We're playing a samll game in work today:

Player 1 Starting hand

Player 2 Starting hand

Player 2 is known to bet at anything.

Player one has raised 600 pre flop blinds are a 100/200 and player 2 calls.

Flop comes

Player one bets 600 and player 2 calls

Turn  is

Player 1 moves all in for his last 1800 chips and is called by player 2 who has him covered and a 100 spare.

River comes

So both players make their flush but who wins the pot as both where using 4 from the board plus the one in their own hand?

I instantly said as dealer player 1 has it as he has the higher diamond.  Plus in my heart of hearts I thought he deserved it as he played it better and Player 2 invariably was spoiling the game for others.

Anyway there where 6 involved obviously player one agreed with em and we had one other in agreement but other 3 where saying it was a split pot I decided as dealer that player 1 won.  Was I right?

p.s. and yes player one takes the pot with a A-Q-J-10-5 flush which beats a A-Q-J-7-5 flush

Yes player one due to the "he deserves it as he played better rule". It is a rule I often use when needed.

I work for an Insurance company in the centre of Glasgow.

We play every day at lunch.  Its only an hour but with 6 players 2.5k in starting chips we just decide at the end who wins with a chip count if all are still in or unless we have an outright winner by then.

Its good craic.  I was the only regular player outwith work before Christmas now we have on a good day a 10 seater game on an average day its normally 6 all from my team.

We put in a £10 a month per person.  Work a wee league 10 points to the winner, 7 for 2nd, 5 points to 3rd, 3 points for 4th and 1 for 5th anything below that you get Zero.

Obviously the bosses dunno of the money as they would forbid it and the game would be disbanded but now we have 3 regular players away from work and theres another few who can't wait to get their first home game out the way.

All in all its good, and its something to look foward to at lunch.
