I received an email from pkr.com today which has a fairly lengthy (ok less than 2 mins!) preview of its new software.

http://www.pkr.com/news/index.htm

I'm not sure myself, looks good and probably plays like the console games that are out/coming out this month, with the obvious advantage of money being at stake (sorry but playing for points v a computerdoesnt do it for me), but I cant help thinking after a few hours the gimmick is going wear thin and it may be a tad annoying.

I think the main issue is time management, I don't want to sit through 7 other players 'emotions' after every hand while waiting for the deal, though maybe that's been addressed and it doesn't impact that much, if at all?

One thing I do like is the way you get to look at your hand by turning the corners up and having a peek and no doubt they'll have other nice touches.

Is any one on here involved in the beta test?  I put my name down because I was intrigued by some aspects, but I missed the boat.....

Looks great.  Im signed up to the mailing list but missed on the beta testing too.

I'm looking forward to giving it a go.  I expect it will be ok for gameplay.  When games on consoles have a preview they do all sorts of stuff that you can't actually do when you are playing so perhaps it will be the same - maybe you can do tricks when it's not your go or something like that.

Apparently the shots in the 2 minute clip is taken from actual gameplay.  What isn't clear is when the actions are being made, as you say the tricks may be performed while you are waiting and you get a close up of yourself, but everyone else has a table view?   I like it I just wouldn't want to wait while everyone riffles chips after very hand!

Another good idea is the fact you need to build up points to do the tricks so the better players will be moving the chips around like Antonio esterwhatshisname.

I'm looking forward to the launch, it has the potential to take online poker onto the next level.

I've been signed up to the mailing list since December I think and I can't wait for it to come out, I desribed it as playing poker and the sims at the same time. Think its launching end of march/early april.

It does look quite good and certainly worth a try but as you said I could imagining it being annoying after a while.

I used to play on Truepoker back in my play chip days which has great graphics but after a while found it just too distracting, especially having to "pick up the cards".

Some of the characters are quite amusing though.

Just to let you know that I've heard the beta testing will start in about a weeks time so not too late to register.
Also the speed of gameplay is promised to be as quick or quicker than any other software and tricks etc won't stop the play.

They look like the future of online poker to me & think of all those fish that will be attracted
Easy money ;-)

Just signed up.

I am also  into computer games. Have all the consoles and Stacked by Daniel Negranu is out soon, which is supposed to be very very good.

I can't see Daniel putting his name to anything bad can you?

I dont want to ruin the suspense Wink  I decided to do monthly reports & I must admit not posting results on here on a weekly basis didnt help my motivation and I think i will be a few pound heavier when I weigh in and report a week today.

For those of you who showed an interest in PKR I thought I'd give you a quick update.
We've been doing internal Beta testing for the past few weeks and things are looking great.
The Beta testing will open up to the public in the next couple of weeks so not long to go now.
Some other news that we're pretty excited about are that Phil Laak and Jennifer Tilly have signed up with us this week and will be representing us at tournaments around the globe and you'll also be able to play them online at PKR.
Exciting times ahead !

All the best,
Andy.

The graphics look similar to the WPT and Stacked games for the playstation.
