Title: When the club you love with all your heart signs a monumental ****
Post by: DingleBelle on August 27, 2015, 08:43:05 PM
So my beloved Burnley FC has today signed Joey Barton

My head tells me this is an incredible signing. Talent beyond words and should slice through Championship midfields like the parting of the seas.

My heart is telling me that this is Joey Barton. A monumental bellend (pardon my French).

I've genuinely never been more torn about a signing in my life. What do I do??

Anyone else had this at their club?!

B

"Talent beyond words" hmm certainly wouldn't describe JB like this.

IMO he's a good signing for a club trying to get out of the championship as he will battle and give 100%...... As long as he doesn't fall out with anyone :)

He'll be fine for you for this season, B. Sorry, he'll be fined for you this season, B.

When the toon signed Bowyer I had the same predicament. Never warmed to him. Didn't help he was useless for us like, but the sight of him in our top 1st game of the season was horrific

And yet when we signed Barton it was different.

He will give his all for the club, be one of the top 3 midfielders in the league, and really is a better human than he was 10years ago.

Is he perfect? No. But you genuinely believe him when he says he wants to be a better person and he's paid his debts, as it were. If I were a Burnley fan I'd be cartwheeling.

He's been a much better person since he became a dad. Far from perfect but like Mullhuzz says, admits this and genuinely wants to be better.

However, I reckon his councillor would be concerned that he is back in the NW

Can't quite help but think Barton is being overrated by some in this thread.

Like he will move there. Liverpool is just down the road by his family.

who include an axe-murderer lol.

Dont know if pissing about in the last few years has blunted his talent, but he was decent for newcastle, apart from being a liability with stupid red cards. Dont think the championship really suits him as much as france did, where he did well. They will constantly wind him up and he always reacts. The player he was at city/newcastle would have been the best mid in the champs but the player Ive seen more recently isnt anywhere near that level.

What you need is a Burnley shirt. With "JOEY BARTON" on the back.

When Barnsley signed Mido a couple of years ago it turns out he was actually just monumental due to a slight lack of conditioning.

His playing career with us lasted 27 minutes.

Pretty incredible he retired at the age of 30 with a 1 in 3 goal ratio across numerous top european leagues and 20 goals in 50 games at International level!  Must be hard to get that out of condition at 30 when you are paid fortunes to stay fit.
