So my beloved Burnley FC has today signed Joey Barton

My head tells me this is an incredible signing. Talent beyond words and should slice through Championship midfields like the parting of the seas.

My heart is telling me that this is Joey Barton. A monumental bellend (pardon my French).

I've genuinely never been more torn about a signing in my life. What do I do??

Anyone else had this at their club?!

"Talent beyond words" hmm certainly wouldn't describe JB like this.

IMO he's a good signing for a club trying to get out of the championship as he will battle and give 100%...... As long as he doesn't fall out with anyone Smiley

At least yours is only a player

He'll be fine for you for this season, B. Sorry, he'll be fined for you this season, B.

When the toon signed Bowyer I had the same predicament. Never warmed to him. Didn't help he was useless for us like, but the sight of him in our top 1st game of the season was horrific

And yet when we signed Barton it was different.

He will give his all for the club, be one of the top 3 midfielders in the league, and really is a better human than he was 10years ago.

Is he perfect? No. But you genuinely believe him when he says he wants to be a better person and he's paid his debts, as it were. If I were a Burnley fan I'd be cartwheeling.

He's been a much better person since he became a dad. Far from perfect but like Mullhuzz says, admits this and genuinely wants to be better.

However, I reckon his councillor would be concerned that he is back in the NW

Can't quite help but think Barton is being overrated by some in this thread.

who include an axe-murderer lol.

Dont know if pissing about in the last few years has blunted his talent, but he was decent for newcastle, apart from being a liability with stupid red cards. Dont think the championship really suits him as much as france did, where he did well. They will constantly wind him up and he always reacts. The player he was at city/newcastle would have been the best mid in the champs but the player Ive seen more recently isnt anywhere near that level.
