I was watching a film the other day.  I've seen it loads of times and as it started, wondered why I was watching it again, as I know nearly every line.  About 20 minutes into it, I realised the soundtrack must be the draw.  I love the music from my mom's generation and 'Good Morning Vietnam' has some of our favourites.

Got me thinking.  What other movies out there are great for their soundtrack, if for no other reason?  I've decided to put it to you lot.  What's your favourite soundtrack?  Can't be just one or two good songs.  Has to be an overall great listen.  So, go on then.  Spill it.  We won't hold the movie against you, as long as the music is good.

Im in no way a fan of this band, but I actually think Queens Flash Gordon soundtrack was perfect for the film, almost turned it into a rock opera.

But the undisputed king of soundtracks not performed entirely by one band is Quentin Tarantino, pretty much any film he has done. Very standard answer but a deserved one for me

The original Jaws, the soundtrack is such a massive part of the film...John Williams also did Indiana Jones, Superman, Et, Star Wars and loads more...an utter soundtrack genius...as for one with songs hmmm more of a tough one, Beverley Hills Cop for me...

The Commitments doesn't have a bad soundtrack.

The Busby Berkeley film in which "Lullaby on Broadway" featured was much enhanced by the music.

Moving much more up to date, I rather liked "The Sound of Music".

the film I Am Sam had a great soundtrack - all Beatles covers by modern artists.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0277027/soundtrack  (mmm, could have sworn there was one by the Stereophonics in there - maybe not!)

Also love the sountrack to The Outsiders, one of my favourite films anyhow Smiley

O Brother Where Art Thou has a great soundtrack, even if that kind of music (I don't even know what genre you'd call it) isn't my normal cup of tea.

Totally agree on both Tarantino and Flash Gordon.
