Title: Wild about Poker!
Post by: Richie Wild on May 09, 2006, 10:12:44 PM
Hi,

I guess I broke some rules as my previous post has been removed.

Tikay, sorry if I did someting wrong.

I was only telling people about my new blog and that I had added a link to Blonde Poker!

Let me know what I can and can't do and then I will and I won't!

Stay Wild!

Richie

Hi,

I hadn't seen the PM so apologies!!

I have added a link to Blonde Poker on my blog and so thought it only fair that I be allowed to add a link on forum, but I respect your rules.

Just hope many of you will follow my progress in the world of poker via my blog.

Would love to know what people think of my article; Taking the Texas Holdem Bull by the horns.

Stay Wild!

Richie

Thanks TightEnd.

I respect your rules and have no issue about you pulling my 1st post.

I didn't realise the globe was a link. And as you say people can find it on my profile.

It would be great to know where some good live games are played.

I'm very nervous about going to my first casino game!! So any advice would be gratefully received.

Richie

Who's Australian Jon Bachman, the guy who won you say won $7.9m at last years WSOP?

Might be a  :blonde: on my part, but I think you mean Joe Hachem winning $7.5m.

Tiger Woods won $1.2m for winning the Open, not £1.4m.

And it's Ernie Els, not Ernie Else.

Is Richie Wild your real name? Do you have a sister called Deuces? I'm sure I've heard people refer to her at card games before.

Just read your blog thingy. Poker is 40% chance and 60% skill? Where did you get those figures from?

Just read your blog thingy. Poker is 40% chance and 60% skill? Where did you get those figures from?

Everyone knows that poker is 30% observation, 50% chance and 30% mathematics.

Nah seriously though, you can't really quantify this for "poker" as the skill vs luck element (or more quantifiably, your standard deviation) will vary depending on what form of poker you play.

I'd actually argue that most poker is 0% luck. Trouble is, explaining why to a layman (or mug punter) without boring them to tears.

sorry i should of said NON clickable text links

Title: Re: Wild about Poker!

Apparently links are bad for the "SEO" (i dunno what they are either) and because of this links were kept to an absolute minimum and clickable links in sigs were disabled.
I was being pedantic (out of character i know) as this doesn't appear to be the case with everyone.
I just don't like the old "one rule for one, another for everyone else" thingy, it annoys me.

I agree with the clicky link thing too, but i would of liked to see a thing where you can only get a clickable link in siggy with say 1000+ posts..
Or whatever figure was agreed, the seo thing is rubish!

Title: Re: Wild about Poker!
Post by: thetank on May 10, 2006, 12:34:35 AM
How about a clickable link after doing at least 30 entertaining and informative live updates.

Title: Re: Wild about Poker!

"SEO" = Search Engine Optimization.

I have no idea what it means, but we pay our techies to give us expert advice, & they tell us it damages our SEO to have too many links.

Title: Re: Wild about Poker!
Post by: Tractor on May 10, 2006, 12:38:36 AM
I would disagree there to be honest Tikay, the links you would be getting from 1000+ posters would be quality links therefore enhancing your Page ranking, linkfarms etc damage your rating which would only be from spammers etc.
ie- quality links = + page rankings.

I will pass your comments onto our Techies.

But there are other reasons why we decided to try & keeps links under control. This is particularly important to ensure our Members don't "abuse" other sites, particularly during Live Updates by us or others.

There is no absolute right or wrong, we are just trying to hold a balanced position that ensures blonde stays clean.

i am sorry a small perk for time and effort that the mods put into moderating the site they have got the abilty to put a clickable link for there blog in there sig

this has more to do with the last webmasters not removing this abilty and me not having the time or the inclination to remove it from them

I have no idea why they would say it damages your SEO, the more links you get to the site the higher your ranking. It's a bit of you scratch my back, I'll scatch yours.

IF the links were on the main website I could possibly see what they were trying to get at, although it still would not damage it in any way. So I can only assume it's down to possible member abuse, and in that case it's fair enough, it is your site afterall!
