The four people mentioned are all fictional nominees, however three of them acted as a pseudonym for a real person, one didn't. Which?

Basically, sometimes in films, directors etc may use fake names in the credits for various non-acting roles. (often for themselves)

This is what the four names are. They were nominated for oscars, but they don't actually exist as real names. Most likely it's a made up pseudonym.

However, there is one in there that not only doesn't exist, but isn't even a fake name for a real person.

Which?

Yes, I'm going to need to confirm that one with TightEnd as he was the QuizMaster for last week. Although, the correct answer (6ft) was given by the winner.

Sometimes directors, writers (or whoever) make up fake names for the film credits rather than use their own real name. (Why? I'm not sure. For fun perhaps?)

For example, if Adam Goulding made a film, then chose to put himself down as Adam Smith on the credits (for whatever reason), then he (me) would be using a pseudonym.

The four options for that question are all pseudonyms that received Oscar nominations.

In one case (of the four), the fake name isn't even a replacement or modificaton of someone's real name. It is completely made up.

You need to tell me which one it is.

So you are asking which one ISN'T a pseudonym, why not just ask that?

For question 13 see here:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/in_depth/2001/grand_national/1220128.stm (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/in_depth/2001/grand_national/1220128.stm)

The height was reduced to 5ft 2in - this article is from 2001.

Tell Tighty it's time to give his 1994 Big Book of Sporting Facts back to the library.

lol, i suggest we allow both 5ft 2 and 6ft!!!

cos it was 6ft, and i did the q's from memory!!

Another questionable answer:  Imola is NOT in San Marino, it is in Italy.  See here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Marino and here http://www.autodromoimola.com/

The question was NOT which countries grand prix is held there!

Title: Re: BLONDE QUIZ LEAGUE
Post by: stallyon on May 18, 2006, 09:18:31 AM
;iagree; i think Italy should stand as a correct answer as well the height of the Fence for the Grand National. It was 6' as Tighty correctly said but the question was what IS the height not what WAS the height.

Any chance we can have the resutls re-totted up?

not amused- i got 19/20 and am not even listed on the leaderboard even though I got my answers in within an hour of the sprts quiz going up. The only one I got wrong is the grand national one where I went for the chair at 5ft 2 as well as many others.

The Chair is the biggest fence it is 6ft high and has a ditch of 5ft 2inch

sorry mate your wrong- the chair is 5ft 2 tall as confirmed by many sites- the one you have means the fence is 6ft high including the ditch- the take off height (or height the horse has to jump) is 5ft 2.

Title: Re: BLONDE QUIZ LEAGUE
Post by: ariston on May 18, 2006, 11:32:19 PM
The chair also has a 6ft long ditch- the site you are using is wrong. Just google height of the chair grand national and see how many sites confirm the chair is 5ft 2 in height

You ARE listed, but you only scored 17. Questions 10, 13, and 20 were wrong according to Tightend's answers.

ok whufc do another google search and u will find around 500000 other sites that quote the correct height of the chair. It is one of the most common pub quiz questions and everyone knows its 5ft 2 (does it not seem strange to you that all the other fences range from 4ft 6 to 5ft and one is suddenly 6ft?) I own shares in a couples of dozy nags and I will have a side bet with you that the correct height is 5ft 2 (any other sites that quote 6ft will all be the same text copied and pasted from your original incorrect site).
I always get my boxing weights wrong and san marino- doh.
Still I got 18 and wh clearly googled as did tightend to find the 6ft one so I say they should be flogged.

Can someone tell me where the answers are?

Title: Re: BLONDE QUIZ LEAGUE

Dont know if you are horse racing man but can you explain why every other fence is 5ft or less and they suddenly have a 6ft fence in the middle of the first circuit? Show jumping horses struggle with 6ft fences and you expect race horses to jump one (different breeding between show jumpers and racers). I will dispute this for ever as it is one of the most common pub quiz questions and any spots buff knows its 5ft 2 (not just someone who obviously googled all the answers).

Flog me!

Lets not take it too seriously, I said about sixteen pages ago I'd accept 5ft 2 or 6ft cos multiple sources provide an ambiguity.
