Title: Broadway Casino - dik9 Post by: MrMoves on August 11, 2005, 08:04:29 PM Hi Richard (dik9)
I'm hoping to pop over at some point this weekend and register for your Sept' poker tournaments. Is there a dress code? Do I need to book a table in the restaurant? Just to confirm, I can register for my fellow travelling poker mates? :) Thanks. Title: Re: Broadway Casino - dik9 Post by: dik9 on August 11, 2005, 11:01:48 PM sorry just got in from work!
Yes there is a dress code! No sportswear, ripped jeans, hats. Preferred dress would be smart/ smart casual. It seems to be getting more lax unfortunately. It states that to avoid any chance of dissappointment please avoid wearing jeans and trainers. Although they seem to be quite flexible on this! No card game friday or saturday though. Sunday is OK 20 NLHE usually about 60-70 runners. Hope to see you there, please introduce yourself, I am the muppet in a tux! No problem entering your mates. To avoid any chance of disappointment best to book for restaurant although not normally neccessary. All the best Rich Title: Re: Broadway Casino - dik9 Post by: MrMoves on August 12, 2005, 01:16:21 PM Rich,
I think I'll nip over tomorrow night with the other half. Maybe increase your blackjack profits ;) I'm sure I'll pop over before Sept and play some of those 20 rebuys too. If you're not there, I assume I can just pay at the cash desk and you or other poker staff don't need to be around for registering? Thanks. Title: Re: Broadway Casino - dik9 Post by: dik9 on August 12, 2005, 03:41:23 PM No Problems, Off till Sunday Hope you enjoy yourself, good luck! Cash desk can cope....I hope!!!!
Title: Re: Broadway Casino - dik9 Post by: MrMoves on August 12, 2005, 05:55:53 PM I'll be sure to let you know if they can't ;)
Thanks for your help. Title: Re: Broadway Casino - dik9 Post by: MrMoves on August 18, 2005, 08:53:43 PM Impressive casino. The cash desk coped, I even threw in a few questions to try and slip 'em up ;)
I like the look of your poker area, dik. Trying to find time to come over for a rebuy tourney. What is the regular schedule again? Thanks. Title: Re: Broadway Casino - dik9 Post by: ifm on August 18, 2005, 11:17:42 PM beer's bloody expensive though!! but the valets sort of make up for that ;)
click the link under dik's name for schedule, Ian Title: Re: Broadway Casino - dik9 Post by: MrMoves on August 19, 2005, 09:42:26 AM Ohh yes, thanks Ian.
Just seen the results from some of the earlier £20 rebuys. How long is the rebuy period? Hoping to come back on Sunday and give it a try. Title: Re: Broadway Casino - dik9 Post by: dik9 on August 19, 2005, 12:12:05 PM Sun, Mon, Tues, Weds £20 NLHE all start at 9.15
Suggest you get there about 8.15 to guarantee seat for Sunday I turned 16 away last Sunday as over max capacity Rebuy period is 90 mins at a flat ante 25/50 20 min break for food and then a 20 min clock after. Glad you liked the place, sorry about the price of drinks, there are a few reasons for that. Cheers Title: Re: Broadway Casino - dik9 Post by: ifm on August 19, 2005, 12:15:17 PM Title: Re: Broadway Casino - dik9 Post by: dik9 on August 19, 2005, 12:24:11 PM BOOM BOOM
Title: Re: Broadway Casino - dik9 Post by: MrMoves on August 22, 2005, 11:29:30 AM Nice to meet you last night Richard.
On the whole I was very impressed and enjoyed the tournament very much, although I'm not a big rebuy fan. You have a very good card room at Broadway, nice friendly staff, free food and even the locals aren't too grumpy ;) See you at festival time.... ohh, can you post the structures for the festival tournaments when you have them? Thanks. Title: Re: Broadway Casino - dik9 Post by: julian on August 22, 2005, 12:12:03 PM i'm confused,
is the broadway 'star city'? Title: Re: Broadway Casino - dik9 Post by: Hawkeye1976 on August 22, 2005, 12:34:31 PM No Julian, The Broadway is near Birmingham city centre, just off 5 Ways Island.
Best Regards Steve Title: Re: Broadway Casino - dik9 Post by: julian on August 22, 2005, 12:45:44 PM tx hawkeye,
so there are two festivals in brum that week, the £1000 stanleys grand prix on the 7th at star city & a £1000 at the broadway on the 10th? wow! Title: Re: Broadway Casino - dik9 Post by: dik9 on August 22, 2005, 03:48:31 PM 4 events starting 7th September
7th Weds 8pm £100 NLHE 1 rebuy or top up 8th Thurs 8pm £500 NLHE 1 rebuy or top up (2 day event) 9th Frid 8pm £300 NLHE 1 rebuy or top up (2 day event) 10th Sat 7pm Main Bracelet Event £1000 NLHE freezeout (2 day event) This Festival may compliment the £1000 star city event on the 7th if people wish to stay in the city for a few days. If people wish to book hotels just mail me with your requirements and how much you wish to pay and I will find the best deals for you. We are nothing to do with "star city" BTW LOL We are an independent casino, If some of you remember the "old" Rubicons e.g. Coventry, Northamton, Wolverhampton These were owned by Monte Shine. The Broadway and the Shaftesbury are owned by his son Martin Shine. If you old timers remember the "old" Rubicons then you will remember they were very poker orientated. We are situated about 400meters from the Rainbow Casino. Mr. Moves the £1000 chip structure will be 10,000pts on an hour clock £500 (+1 rebuy) will be 5000pts(10,000) on an hour clock £300 (+1 rebuy) will be 3000pts(6,000) on an hour clock £100(+1 rebuy) will be 2000pts(4000) on a 30/45 min clock (brackets are potential chips with optional rebuy OR top up) STC If the mini fest works well the next festival will go massive! Advertising wise we are mainly doing it word of mouth. As I believe in the poker community the fire spreads quick. Therefore we rely on good service and facilities. Let the poker players advertise it themselves and if we do not deliver then its our own fault. BTW we will never charge registration fees whilst I am in charge of the card room, I think its a disgrace to make the players pay, as the whole idea is to bring customers in!! And we supply dealers for ALL games. :o Title: Re: Broadway Casino - dik9 Post by: MrMoves on August 22, 2005, 04:12:14 PM They are pretty good dealers too.
Don't forget, there is free parking here aswell. The casino picks up the tab for the underground carpark, which seems very secure to me. Looking forward to my next visit already. Are there any plans for a weekly freezeout? £100 or £200 freeze would be very tempting indeed 8) Thanks Richard. Title: Re: Broadway Casino - dik9 Post by: dik9 on August 22, 2005, 04:22:42 PM Glad you enjoyed your night out, nice meeting you too.
Yes there are plans to go 7 nights with 2 freezeouts £100 on a Thursday and £50 on a saturday. This won't be till after September though. Lets get the festival out of the way and we'll go from there. All depends on the amount of staff we have at the end of September. As I will only have comps where I can supply dealers, this is the reason why we only have 4 a week at the moment. One of these freeze outs may be a shoot out comp. Regarding parking it is the safest car park in the Midlands and 2nd safest in the UK. With Thanks Rich Title: Re: Broadway Casino - dik9 Post by: julian on August 22, 2005, 05:59:45 PM sounds great, cu there - do normal membership rules apply, if so can i get your fax no?

Title: Re: Broadway Casino - dik9 Post by: tikay on August 23, 2005, 09:55:00 PM Wow.10k starting chips, 25/50, 1 hour clock.
COUNT ME IN! Is it likely to sell out? I am ouit of the UK most of next week, but back Friday night, & really do fancy playing this. Title: Re: Broadway Casino - dik9 Post by: dik9 on August 24, 2005, 12:46:12 AM Hopefully it will sell out, but I am not holding my breath, I realistically am looking at 60-80. To be honest I have had loads of interest in it, but only a few have dug up the £1k we are taking registration now at cash desk, card room or by cheque(as long as it is recieved before 1st Sept).
I really do hope it is a success as next year will be fantastic. But I can't tell just at mo. Although people who have been here think it is the best venue around!! Judge for yourself!!! Sat for the £1000 this Wed(tomorrow) 24th £50 rebuy Super satellite. Also Friday 2nd sept at the Shaftesbury £50 rebuy Super satellite. One table sats available sun, mon, tues, weds at 2am Title: Re: Broadway Casino - dik9 Post by: RED-DOG on August 24, 2005, 12:49:03 AM If I come tomorrow, do you think someone will sign me in?

I'm going, I'll try to organise something Title: Re: Broadway Casino - dik9 Post by: Junior Senior on August 24, 2005, 12:17:15 PM thanks Tom.... i mean Mr Red Dog sir... but i have just checked my diary and i am unable to play the event proper on the 10th as its a 2-day comp and i am golfing sunday. I will definitely play the £500 though in the week. I have just been on the site and requested a membership form. - looks like it should be a good festival.
Title: Re: Broadway Casino - dik9 Post by: RED-DOG on August 24, 2005, 02:15:54 PM I think this is going to be a great festval
Dik has obviously done his homework and is trying hard to give the players what they want, that kind of attitude is always worth supporting I've heard some good things about the broadway, I'll check it out tonight, hope to see some of you there Title: Re: Broadway Casino - dik9 Post by: MrMoves on August 24, 2005, 02:30:12 PM I think you will enjoy it Red Dog.
I found it similar to Yogi's setup in Blackpool, which you'll probably know is great too. I'm tempted about the satellite tonight myself. Mrs Moves might file for divorce though ::) Title: Re: Broadway Casino - dik9 Post by: ACE2M on August 24, 2005, 03:43:00 PM Hello,
Can someone please sign me in tonight? Pretty please. thanks Title: Re: Broadway Casino - dik9 Post by: ACE2M on August 25, 2005, 02:41:01 AM In the end there were 18 players with 2 seats guaranteed as the broadway made up about £300 shortfall.
The standard was fairly soft but there wasn't to many re buys (0 for me). Found Ak in the BB early on final table and lost a quarter of my stack to the small stack with K10. Then busted out defending the blinds with A9 v AJ having passed and passed and getting a bit short stacked. Red - dog lasted a while longer and ran into AA with his all in AK out in about 5th i think. Will probably attend the next one. Title: Re: Broadway Casino - dik9 Post by: RED-DOG on August 25, 2005, 03:15:50 AM What can I say about the Broadway casino, I think Wow is the right word, this place is big, and its very classy, there are two dining areas, two bars, a huge gaming floor and a raised and railed card room, there is also a TV lounge and a lovely circular arrangement of comfy chairs around an open fire, there was also a small stage, a dance floor and a grand piano, the decor was plush, understated and tasteful, the sort of place you would like to take your wife (Or someone else's) to
What did I like, The layout, plenty of room, the staff, very friendly and helpfull, the food, excellent, and free during the break, the dealers, fast efficient and competent, the parking, safe and free, and the comps have no regestration fees what didnt I like, the fact that I was charged £1.20 for a small glass of coke because I was silly enough to go and get it myself, If I had let the valet get it it would have been free, I dont mind the £1.20, but it seems a siily concept All in all, I loved it, I just couldn't understand why there were only 18 runners, I think we should organise a blonde raiding party Title: Re: Broadway Casino - dik9 Post by: RED-DOG on August 25, 2005, 03:18:56 AM And it was great to meet ACE2MOUTH, Tom (great name) he's a really nice guy
Title: Re: Broadway Casino - dik9 Post by: dik9 on August 25, 2005, 04:43:27 AM Nice meeting you Red-Dog and ACE2MOUTH, Glad you liked the place, please spread the word :)

18 Runners.... Very disappointed myself! Next Super satellite is for £500 event next Wednesday (£25 rebuy) Every night we do card room we advertise a 1 table sat to start at 2am Please could all the local players (and not so local) give the Broadway festival your support, because if it is successful this year, next year will be a huge event. Thanks All Title: Re: Broadway Casino - dik9 Post by: dan on August 25, 2005, 11:49:22 AM All in all, I loved it, I just couldn't understand why there were only 18 runners, I think we should organise a blonde raiding party i will definetly be interested in going to the next one if anybody is up for it. i couldnt attend last night as i was busy watching the mighty gunners destroy fulham. who is going next wednesday then? Title: Re: Broadway Casino - dik9 Post by: ACE2M on August 25, 2005, 11:55:18 AM I will probably go, but wednesday night is pool night so i may have to turn out for the team after last nights absence.
