many thanks to the fitzwilliam club and the irish team for their hospitality.although outclassed at poker , they showed that they have plenty of class away from the table and i can honestly say i have never met a friendlier bunch of people. thanks to davey , angie and kev for the hard work they put in. just a few words about my team mates........ 01: Flushy ...........takes an awful amount of stick but is a genuine nice guy and always has a smile on his face (a nightmare to sit next to in a rebuy though) 02: Jen .............WOW.......arrives with a humungus hangover and still manages a great win in the hi/lo omaha....respect 03: Rudders ....a 2 1/2 hour mammoth omaha battle and a great table companion 04: McIntosh ...known as token (as in token jock)........top bloke 05: Pav.........didnt sound like a jock, but somebody said something about motherwell :dontask: 06: Pab.......top bloke...future bracelet winner 07: Belsize ...didnt get to spend much time with you as somebody appeared to have nailed you to the cash tables 08: JP ...showed me how to play 3 5 ........celebrates his 16th birthday next week 09: Clothey...sorry mate , i managed to lose you in the airport , hope you had a good trip back 10: Dewi ...thanks for letting me sleep with you ;) 11; Jamie....great ambassador for blue square on a personal note..(excuse the chirp) played the 55euro on friday night andmanaged to be the only team GB member to make final table (8th) won my heads up 7 card stud match against an excellent (if slightly rude) opponent played the 25 euro rebuy (had 27 rebuys and an add on lol) , made the last 3 and chopped with my 2 irish opponents for 850 euros apiece thanks everyone , a truly memorable weekend Title: Re: dublin Post by: Pab on July 09, 2006, 09:52:28 PM i agree, what a superb weekend. Was a pleasure to meet some of the people id never met before.
The whole day was played in a great atmosphere and enjoyed every minute of it. 25 euro rebuy was v funny some of the locals were visibly disturbed at our strategy of moving all in every hand without looking at our cards, lol Thanks to davey and angie for all the hard work co-ordinting the event and would be honoured to compete in future events. Kev was the motivater/ chief flushy basher and kept morale in the team up. Flushy was an inspirational captain, lol thought i could say that with a straight face! Sweetest moment of the weekend was eliminating Flushie at the final table of the €25 rebuy :) Great craic all weekend and Team GB were great ambassadors for GB poker. Wouldn't have been such a fantastic weekend without such fantastic hosts. You are right about the turning point - the score was 4-2 to GB but we were seriously down in three games - was very tight - could have gone either way at that stage. Found it very surreal during your match with flushy - the whole of TeamGB surrounded the table cheering YOU on!!! Look forward to hosting you guys for the return leg and returning to Dublin later in the year with the English, Scottish and Welsh teams for the four nations. Fantastic whirlwind trip, would do it again in an instant. Great hosts and everyone took to the charity rebuy with total crazy abandon. One of the most fun poker trips I've been on - thanks to Flushy for putting up with his team-mates supporting Luckyblind and being such a good sport the whole weekend. What makes you think you were going to be selected! ;goodvevil; I am sure what Flushy meant to say is 'You would have almost certainly been an automatic selection and we apologise for the clash with the Aruba event, however as you are well aware whatever date we chose there will be some sort of clash. The date for the FOUR NATIONS has been set and announced very shortly, hopefully you will be available to be considered for selection to the England squad. It was mentioned several times over the weekend that people consider you a future TeamGB captain (but dont tell Flushy).' BlueSq have an option to remain as sponsor for the return leg as well as an option to sponsor the English team in the Four Nations - will hopefully know whether they will be exercising these options very soon (note to all online cardrooms - Sponsors required for Wales and Scotland). The qualifiers will be held on the team sponsors site. i'd pretty much like to echo was has been said before. It was a great weekend from start to finnish. To our hosts- great hospitality, great club and lots of action. To my teammates - as nice a bunch as i could hope to meet. special mention for flushy as if he wasn't there to take all the flak, my nickname would probably be alot worse than token To the irish team - hard luck on the day and good luck in the world series as you all seem to be going. K.p. - my money is on you for the main event and of you win i'll probably make more money than you. To the organisers - i salute you davey and angie, alot of tireless work for a great cause. I have tried desperately to find a date that pleases everyone, but given the current poker calender it is an impossible task.
