Title: Is your FireFox broken? Post by: Sark79 on July 16, 2006, 02:08:51 AM I can't get on for some reason. I keep getting error messages. All my desktop shortcuts work fine
Any ideas thanks Title: Re: Is your FireFox broken? Post by: Bongo on July 16, 2006, 02:18:06 AM Get on where?
What error messages do you get? Title: Re: Is your FireFox broken? Post by: Sark79 on July 16, 2006, 02:20:22 AM I get a message saying Server not found . This happens when I click on the FireFox icon on my desktop
I must have a server because I am on blonde now. My emails work fine and I have been playing pokerstars most of the night Title: Re: Is your FireFox broken? Post by: byronkincaid on July 16, 2006, 02:24:41 AM Quote I have been playing pokerstars most of the night Wow, which ones? Title: Re: Is your FireFox broken? Post by: Sark79 on July 16, 2006, 02:28:16 AM :D I beat Doyle HU. To be honest it was boring, he didn't want to play high enough. I then moved onto Patrick Antonius, but he didn't put up much of a fight. I ended the night by finishing runner up in a $12 STT
Title: Re: Is your FireFox broken? Post by: Bainn on July 16, 2006, 02:53:26 AM I assume you mean Firefox is spitting out a "server not found" message when you are trying to access websites, ie, Blonde or moving to another page on Blonde.
This is down to the server not responding in time when Firefox makes a request for a site or page, and can be simply a lot of traffic on the site you are trying to reach or on the odd occasion, the server (remote pc hosting a site) is temporarily down. I had similar situation when accessing Blonde earlier, so most likely a traffic problem. Title: Re: Is your FireFox broken? Post by: Sark79 on July 16, 2006, 10:03:51 AM I am only getting a "server not found" message when I click on the FireFox icon on my desktop. All my shortcuts from my desktop work fine,ie, Blonde, thepokerdb, etc.
This is a mystery. I ran a spy sweep, virus check this morning. But, it is still not working. IE still works fine, all my poker sites work fine. It is only the FireFox icon that doesn't. If I go into C drive and try to start it from there, I am still unable to get on, I just get " Server not found" Title: Re: Is your FireFox broken? Post by: Sark79 on July 16, 2006, 11:21:16 AM I cant understand it. Everything else works fine. Over the last few days, I have added nothing or updated anything. I really hate computers :D. I sent firefox an email. The last time, I tried to de-install firefox from my computer to go back to IE, when it had de-installed all my shortcuts on the screen didn't respond. It seems it is imppossible to get rid of the bloody thing once it has been installed ( for me anyway ).
Title: Re: Is your FireFox broken? Post by: Heid on July 16, 2006, 12:25:42 PM The only thing that is broken on mine is my mozilla start page:

The terminology always gets me lol ) Do you know if there is a way to fix it? I emailed them, but have got no reply Title: Re: Is your FireFox broken? Post by: ifm on July 16, 2006, 12:41:35 PM Just use IE7.

Basically it means the google page is being inundated with hits and cannot respond to your request to load the page in time. Firefox isn't broken, its working as intended. Basically it means the google page is being inundated with hits and cannot respond to your request to load the page in time. Firefox isn't broken, its working as intended. I will try and ignore it. However I need order and tidiness. It kills me that the icon sits there and does nothing. I prefer every icon to do something. Like when you had your phone mikky, it was such a temptation to click the phone icon . In Flash Gordon the movie, would you put your hand in the tree stump on Prince Baron's swamp planet? I would because it is there to be done ( even if there is a big stinging thing in there ) My FireFox is there to be clicked... now I can't :D Title: Re: Is your FireFox broken? Post by: Bongo on July 16, 2006, 04:34:40 PM You can click it and then just go on to where you want to.
Title: Re: Is your FireFox broken? Post by: mikkyT on July 16, 2006, 04:57:27 PM Sark, firefox is not broken, its just the first page that laods up (call the home page) is not working (but it works for me...)
So, I suggest you fix your homepage if you want so tidyness :D Title: Re: Is your FireFox broken? Post by: Jon MW on July 17, 2006, 08:37:48 AM Its a piece of poo. Microsoft made it... Not everything they make is lame. I'm not anti-microsoft, I think a lot of their products are good and of course you can't beat them for compatibility between programmes. But ultimately the way they make them good is usually by copying other peoples better work - IE7 uses a lot of mozilla and firefox ideas to become good software - I'd rather use the original and I'd rather use the ones that virus writers and their ilk aren't going to target because they are anti-microsoft. Title: Re: Is your FireFox broken? Post by: Bongo on July 17, 2006, 02:53:36 PM No, they just target IE as it has the biggest market share.

The point still stands, if IE is being targeted - it's safer staying away from it. Title: Re: Is your FireFox broken? Post by: mikkyT on July 17, 2006, 03:03:48 PM Its a piece of poo. Although at first glance there might be similarities, I think there is a big difference. When Microsoft do something which makes them look like a git it's generally a ruthless commercial business decision (eg withdrawing support for Windows 98, don't worry about the millions of people in the world who are still using it) When Harrah's do the same (eg re use old cards for the HORSE and other tournaments rather than use new ones), its generally either a bad business decision or incompetence. |
