Probably because I was fuming with the referee. Ricksen shouldnt have been sent off (and maybe even not booked for one of them) and as for the "offside goal". How can a player be standing less than a foot in front of a goalkeeper and not be interferring with play?

We know the world is against us but will win the league anyway. Hartson should have gone today, Lennon should have during the 90 minutes and how we did not net 6 is beyond me. You were murdered out there today. Men against boys.

Just looking forward to te Champions League this week now. You do remember that rights??? Artsmedia Brataslava was nearly as funny as Nauchatel Xamax all those years ago.......

So you're two points ahead of us.

Well, thats the end of the season for sure then.....

Was hoping for a draw.
About time this league was more competitive after the infirm draining the financial bloodline of the SPL of £300m in the last 20 years.......1/3rd of a £billion spent on foreign transfers fees!!

Celtic £20m in debt and if it hadnt been for Murrays £50m rights issue, Ranges would be worse.

And Monkey Donkey, the "Championi" was not directed at todays result. At the minute you look in disarray. Strachan is not the man. I am big enough to admit O'Neill was a great manager, and would have said it at the time but, Strachan is another John Barnes in waiting. I mean, come on, he is taking advice from Tommy Burns who was hardingly a roaring success for you guys. I said to my buddy on the first day, we may see a stronger threat from Hearts this year. Having Burley in charge will also mean they can bring in bigger playres than they normally would have done. It is far too early yet, you have to say, 5 points behind Hearts for you at theis time of the season is not good. (nor us three points)

If you think that was men v boys you are deluded  :D

I hope you and the rest of your "peepil" settle for such a poor R*ngers team, you deserve each other  :D

We are in a transition season, something I am willing to accept & at the start of the season I thought you would win the league by about 12 points. But I have watched you 3 times and you are no better than us, your defence is woeful, middle to front you are OK, Prso being your best player. The turning point was Thompsons sending off, when it was 11 v 11 we were the better of 2 bad lots. I'm not going to get into a debate over the referee I'll leave the paranoia to you.
The Euro thing is not something you really want to get into  an arguement over really now is it but if you do I'll leave you without a name.

Enjoy your day

Hail x 2

10 points if you can tell us precisely what that means.

"If you have to ask, you'll never understand" is not an ecceptable answer.

PS Short memory - last pillock to use the 'men against boys' soundbite ended up getting pumped by Celtic.

Oh I love it ... Jocks arguing about football  ;D   surely by now you all realise that the outcome of your league is like a coin flip. The best thing is that hearts may yet mount a challenge to the "Old firm"
and inject some life into what has been the dullest league in europe for some years.

I love football, and the passion that we have for our teams is unmovable, believe me, I know... i still firmly believe that Burnley are the greatest team in the world, and that all that is holding us back is the lack of a russian multi billionaire with a fetish for claret and blue, warburtons bread and hollands pies.

The thing is about football discussions and debates is that they never end with agreement, its just not possible. So just remember chaps, keep it reasonably friendly and dont resort to personal insults...and for gods sake :) , dont get into religion.

And finally, keep it in perspective..whoever wins your "pie & pea" league wouldnt last 1 season in the premiership ;)

Cheers

Hey, we actually agree on something!

In honour of your posts today Simon, I've updated my profile pic to show me on a wee foreign outing with 70,000 or so of my comrades a few years ago.

Maybe you could post a picture of yourself at a European final with Rangers? Judging by your profile, you could have got lifted over the turnstile by your dad for that one  ;)

Div - I take exception to your comment that I "could have been lifted over the turnstiles"...I could have crawled under them, lol. But, I prefer present than the past. I look forwards not backwards. Champions.  ;)

Kev - None of us have even mentioned religion, I find it ironic that (as is often the case) someone on the 'outside' brings it up, he he. In all seriousness on this subject, views do differ greatly depending on whom you speak to. I am all for singing the songs and creating the atmosphere INSIDE the ground but when the whistle goes, I am quite happy to go outside and shake hands (with other Rangers fans  ;) )

renny999 - I must be honest and say I have heard MANY reasons for the phrase, the most common of which seems to be something along the lines of its a patriotic saying towards the monarchy, i.e. We are the people of the Queen (or indeed King). If you know better 'conclusively' I would be delighted to hear it.

I actually do believe there was a gulf between us on Saturday, granted you only had 10 men but before then, I was full of confidence. If Lovenkrands had brought his boots, it could have been embarassing for you.

To be fair you were the one looking back with your Xamax comment from 10 years ago, does Victoria Zizkov sound familiar  :o

Re religion thats the most sensible thing you've said. Its got nothing to do with it for the vast majority & definately not for the Tims I know on this board. The irony here is the comment was made from someone who has from the first day I joined this board made anti Scottish comments at every opportunity possible. It may be done in jest but thats not the point, it doesnt offend me as I'm not particularly patriotic but it may offend others. For him to then jump in start telling people not to bring religion into this shows that he doesnt know what hes talking about also that he has double standards.

Because it was 10 v 11 for so long we will have to wait another 3 months before we see if there is the gulf that you believe exists, personally I dont see it but time will tell.

I actually took the comment as tongue in cheek. I believe all on this forum are having a bit of fun (and I am British not Scottish  ;)) BUT you have raised a very intresting point. Lets for example substitute nations, say Scottish for Indian.  (I don't mean a "sweaty Indian" instead of "sweaty sock"/Jock before Red-Dog says that!) It would be a completely different issue and I would imagine that the post would be removed from the board. I hope nobody is offended by the comments though, I think they are in much the same vain as taking the fun out of the "Blackpool" lot, only more regionalised. (and probably more comedy material is available for the Blackpool lot  ;))

Maybe this topic has started to get a little "heavy" now. We are covering all topics this last week or so, LOL.

With regard to the "anti Scottish comments" they were never intended to be regarded as Anti scottish, and it concerns me that they may have been viewed in this way. It was all typed with tongue firmly in cheek, and if anyone has been offended then i unreservedly apologise to the Jocks concerned.

As far as the religion comment in my original post, it was meant in the way that football threads never end in agreement , much like threads on religion or politics ... you are right when you say that i know nothing about the religion issues surrounding Rangers and Celtic, and whats more i have no desire to learn.  The fact that you jumped on this part of my post rather implies that you care about it more than you would like to admit.

My original post was a light hearted attempt to remind you to keep it "reasonably" friendly and im sorry if you couldnt see that, perhaps if you read it again you will see it in the spirit which it was meant.

any personal issues or double standards issues that you wish to discuss would be happily discussed via personal message... feel free to do so.

Again, apologies to anyone who feels offended, it was never my intention.

That's cos they are two of the biggest football clubs in the WORLD.

Manchester United v Arsenal, and Mourinho v everyone, has generated plenty heat and light over recent years, but I don't hear any insinuation that it's in any way a bad thing.

If you check out this website http://www.nafcsc.com/ (http://www.nafcsc.com/) you will get an idea of the scale of support. I'm told the NAFCSC annual convention (often held in Vegas) is a cracking event.

Hmmm let me think - Celtic v Blackburn, Celtic v Liverpool, Rangers v Leeds. How many competitive fixtures between Scottish and English club teams have been won by the English team in recent history?

I can only think of one - Liverpool v Celtic 2-2 at Celtic Park, 0-0 at Anfield.

And Portsmouth won't have to travel to Rangers. They'll be slumming it with Southampton in The Championship by then.  ;) ;)

I think this could be a Scots only thread, we should leave a few pick axe handles and such in the corner, next to a couple of barrels of "heavy", whatever that is. The thread could be insulated so no noise escapes. Survivors to wipe their feet on their way out to normality, or healthy abnormality. Don't forget to clean up your mess and sweep all those loose limbs up.

Now where did I put my umbrella, looking somewhat damp out there, see I've been brought up in the South since landing on these Isles some 40 years ago, so I talk about the weather.

Back on topic, WTF happened wit that taxi thatw as phoned for El Ginger one?

Now to make it a worthwhile season lets hope King of Kings picks up his champions league medal and guarantees us safe passage to the group stages.

Strachan is slowly taking the Hoops in the right direction , he has made some mistakes but he will learn from them.  Hopefully the signings he has made for next seasn and the planned ones work out.  I'm still not convinced about Kenny Miller but like anyone who pulls on the hoops he will get my backing.

Firstly.... Congratualtions. Not quite the exciting finale of last year but... The one bright thing from last night is that we have the fainest hope of getting a Chamions league place which, i hasten to add, we don't deserve (although the last few weeks have been pretty good). And the good news is, no more A Mc. I actually did post somewhere in October / November that we are crap for what it is worth.
Secondly, Ironside, lay off the drugs. "when aberdeen win the league". You realise the chance of you getting relegetaed are slim (jim) right :-)
Yep, i made the post, i take the flack now.
BUT... if you take out the middle 30 games, we would have won it! LOLOL

Money which was of course generatde by both clubs and their respective supporters.

I do agree Hearts (potential) rise will be good for the game. That said, I would still be happier with a British League. It is no different to Swansea and Cardiff being in the league.

If that doesnt happen, a bigger SPL but only playing each other twice. The smaller clubs would never agree to that though.

You must feel like a right plunker now.   IMAO  @ we may see a stronger threat from hearts this year.    It was too easy and give a shout for that taxi  looooooool

I still stand by my comment that Strachan is no Martin O'Neill and if you recall, you were calling for his head after a week of the season... Martin O'Neill was a great Manager and will no doubt be again (not sure of the latest on his wife). I think pretty much anyone could have done it for you this year. We were piss poor for most of season and Hearts seem to have a huge self destruct button (at least the powers that be have).

No arguement from me, you were by far and away the best team throughout the season.

You better make that 22 months mate, need tow ait till you leave the big league and win the first division.

In response to the point about AMrtin O'Neil he had a few excellents easons but IMO he wasn't a great manager.  Great managers know when to move bad players on, they also don't pay top wages to players past their best neither do they play players out of position to the detriment of the team so they dont get moaned at.

I wouldn't say Strachan was a great manager eother but I may be proved wrong.

When wee Gordon arrived I had a mixture of emotions for months previous and aven after Seville I thought it was time for O'Neill to move on, and Iw anted strachan in.  However the Ginger one made a comment on the BBC about Aiden McGeady thatwas borderline racist wether he meant it as a joke is another issue and at that point I had my reservations about him.  However when he got the job I gave him a 100% support, and when some Celtic fans where wanting him out after 2 games I continued to support saying he deserved time I feel justified in that assessement now.  These same celtic fans where the guys who wanted Larrson out after his slack pass to Chico Charnley in his first game against Hibs, no doubt thsese are also the same supporters who never knew Celtic actually existed before the Bunnet came along.

Some of us remember the bad times at celtic park and are thankful for the good times we have had.

Beir Bua!

teacake,

i suspect that rfc did mean when rangers won it...being the 2nd team to do it and for the first time.

good post by johnlarrson....shows the media up for the absurdity of the manager of the year debate.

strachan has done well...

Strachan is a very, very good manager IMO. He built some good teams at Coventry (within reason) and he did very well at Southampton.

The new Rangers boss is very special though. I'm surprised he went to Rangers tbh. I thought he would have waited to be considered for the Man Utd job.

its amazing what you`ll do when promised the earth by the chairman. he has a job on his hands and if he doesnt get it right straight away it`ll be a long road. he certainly appears to have credentials but its a clean slate.
even the money talked about for the funds is a bit spurious but he must use it well...he wont get any more of significance after that - and making the cl this season is a must to attract players...they wont come for the uefa cup.
