Ade Chatt-alot in Seat 1 is the King of Speech Play, & his non-stop diatribe is causing the other players to roll their eyes in boredom, but he's still going strong. He's a sort of mini - but louder & less subtle  - version of  Stephen Pearce. He just gave Chili one of his "I'll bust you if you Raise my BB" lectures, just a 6 or 7  minute jobbie. Someone forgot to tell him she's a blonde. He has fallen for the "she's a girle = weak" trap. Ah well.

He's actually a lovely guy off the table.

WTG Chil, take this down and give us all a real :blonde:

ooooh - can't wait for the moment she teaches him a lesson!  8)  I think I need to get out more - I am living my life vicariously through Chilli!  :(

OK - to fill the gap - what do you think about the new loos at the gutshot? Nice sinks - like troughs but very trendy. I've seen them before somewhere (racks brain) but they are very nice.

Ade Chatt-lot has just learned a lesson from Chili.

They get involved, he goes off on his usual "you re a fish, you think you can outplay me, I know you have nothing, not a Ten, (the board had paired Tens), but I'm gonna teach you a lesson for later, don't try bluffing me. I looked into my soul & I know you have nothing".

Chili bets a chunky 50k on the end.

Another 4 minute rant, followed by "I'm calling,to teach you not to bluff me again, OK?".

Chili turns over a house of 8's & takes a nice 150k+ Pot. Mr Chatt-Alot is momentarily muted. "I thought you had it, but I needed to send you a Message". She got the Message. And the Pot.

Good luck Chili and nice hand. Be interested to hear what Ade called with. He wouldn't have made that call with nowt. As far as the Gutshot goes, he's a top bloke. Very friendly and good for a chat away from the tables. Take the negative stuff you hear about him with a large dose of salt as there's a load of Gutshotters that are very jealous of his record there.

Yes, let's be clear here, as I noted earlier, he IS a nice fella off the table, truly nice, & his record is better than his game, he makes up for it's deficincies by brilliant use of speech-play, he's an absolute master at it.

But Chili is a blonde, & he knocked on the wrong door this time.

But yes, he is a top bloke, & I woud never suggest otherwise.

The Board had paired tens, he did not have a ten but he did have something. He said he did not think she had a Ten. He was right.

I cannot really "Update" properly, it would be improper here, I am a guest at Gutshot.

But I wll check Chili's stack, & give approximations of the stack topographics. (OK, thats the wrong word).

I wasn't suggesting you were painting Ade in a negative light.  Just interested to know what he called with on that scary board and while I was at it thought I'd say what I thought about the man as I would with any player I had respect for who'd been called a 'loud mouthed fool' by an earlier poster. Blonde or not, I take players/people as I find them and of all those at the Gutshot he's up there as one of the most decent players/people.

Just a word to say that the hand with Ade, he raised with AK I called with 88 and it came A high. He checked in the dark and i hit trip eights on the turn, then it paired on the end.  I think he knew he was behind but had to call he said to see if i was messing with him or not!  Good play i think to find out but maybe i can use this to my advantage later  8)

I agree with your summary of Ade, he has some record down here.

I played with Ade once and wasn't impressed.

He was let off the hook (and a sin bin) after exposing his cards, even though 3 others before him had been punished. When one of these unfortunate victims who had ACCIDENTALLY exposed them, as opposed to Ade who did it on purpose, complained about this, Ade got all defensive and started calling the young lad scum.

I wasn't impressed with the supervisor's decision nor the actions of Ade who should have (1) taken his punishment and (2) not reacted in such a hostile manner.

I cannot really Update properly Dal, I'm a Guest here, they do their own Updates, so I think we should be grateful to them that they've let me keep you Updated on Chili. I don't want them to throw me out!

Bbloodshot Eyes lures the unsuspecting Ade into a beautifully disguised trap, Ade says Kev has nothing, Kev turned the nut flush draw & rivered the nut straight. Apart from that, he did have naff all.

Ohran is starting to run over the table, he's got some game, & is probably up to around 750k. He's capable of blowing them, he's a proper gambler & great player, calls Raises with a wide range of hands & is not afraid to see flops & play down the streets. He is to Chili's immediate left, & she has Ade to her immediate right. Talk about being between a Rock & a hard place.

Some mischievous Posting is going off elsewhere - not here - which suggests, for the 2nd time, that Ade has been busted in 5th place. He has NOT, & there are still 6 left.

Here's a CRACKER.

Ade Raised to 40k on the Button - he always overbets, as he is not keen on seeing flops.

Maria, in the SB, RE-RAISES to 80k.

Ade folds fairly quickly & quietly, by his standards, he's starting to get wary of Chili.

He mucks, face up, A-8. "I now when I'm behind". Maria breaks her usual "no-show" rule, & proudly shows......A-8.

On a K-J-5 flop, she had K-5, Ohran had K-J. In fact, Ohran filled up on the end.

There was a flurry of raises & re-raises, all the chips went in, & that was pretty much that. That's poker.

That's us out of here, we need to get a train home, as we are off to Newcastle in the morning.

She's pretty cut up right now, it's stinging a tad, but she'll be fine in the morning.

Big thanks to all at Gutshot for allowing us to follow Maria's progress, & for all those who sweated her here, & on blonde.

Hi all,first time here...I am was with Maria on FT at Gutshot,got busted just before her with AJ vs Ades AA,btw he didnt lure me into it i made bad read..first bad read in whole tourney..bad last:(  I gotta say this girl has a great potential.Her game is sharp,clever and most importantly she makes look so easy..everybody believes when she raises,got a read on her is almost impossible..trust me I tried. Unfortunately I left before she went out..but since I spent long time with her and the guy who busted her out,I am kinda surprised she went out on that hand..for me clear fold.

Trouble is, most hands you get busted with are a clear fold in the cold light of day, but in a tourney situation, the pressure is on and sometimes you get it wrong.

Having said that, I have no idea how the hand played out, so I would not comment on if I thought it was wrong or not.

Personally. I would have folded the AJ v AA

Unlucky exit Chili, but extremely well played in the tourney.

A great idea - it sure was some comp. "regular" players deserve the chance to play in well-structured comps, & I think every player there had  ball, & there were no excuses for any of us.

I'm home!  Just read this thread right through, what an amazing thing this place is!  I cannot think of any appropriate word at the moment to explain how I am feeling.  Dingdell did the same thing after her big Luton cash.  It was a great performance but felt down and gutted at the exit circumstances!

My whole experience at Gutshot since Friday afternoon has been amazing. The best comp I've played in, great players, great place, rollercoaster ride etc.  I just wanted to say something about my exit. 

I am extremely proud of the whole comp but that last hand I think was the worst hand I have ever played in poker.  I am not saying this as just being gutted at getting so close, but it truly was wrong in nearly every way.  Orhan (great guy and player) did a weird thing the whole final, he was the monster stack at the start and was sat immediately to my left.  So every time (and I mean EVERY time) he was under the gun, he either limped or raised.  Anyway it started to sink in that more often than not he would raise UTG with crap (3 4, 4 5, 8 9 etc) and simply flat call with bigger and shinier hands.  So, I never got a walk and often found myself calling when it was just me and him.  It was fine, I never got into trouble with him and took a few small pots down.  The last hand, same again, my BB, Orhan raised UTG it comes to me left and I see

Ok, I put in 4k it was another 10k to play. I had about 300k so lets see the flop and try and hit it big.  So I see what I think is a good flop:

So I check, he makes it 10k, I make it 25k, he makes it 75k and then says "dont do it" when I pick up some more chips.  After about erm...3 seconds I shove in another load of chips, he goes all in and I have hardly any more left and shove them in.  This was like bang, bang, bang, bang, bang - on thier backs.  So he shows K J and a J on the river to seal my fate and I wanna throw up!!  My point of laying this it out here (apart from having it in print so I disgust myself on a regular basis) is that why, oh why did I not stop to think for a second?  Bloody basics, stop and assess, sit on my hands, whatever, how many hands am I behind to? Why would he risk a gigantic portion of his chips at that stage of a serious comp? Could I find a better opportunity to put all my chips in?  Have patience and realise that If I never played one hand in the next 4 hours I could have been heads up (not really my style but hay). 

The list is endless to get me off that hand, but no I was sure he was trying to push me off or had a worse hand! He was actually the only player left who was mixing it up and gambling so much.  Fool I am.  Maybe fatigue set in after about nearly 40 table hours in 4 days, maybe I just got greedy and wanted his monster stack all to myself!  I know everybody has gone through this at some stage or another but just wanted to get it out of my system.  It will sting for a while but I know, maybe even tomorrow morning, that I will look back on this last 4 days as the best 4 days in my poker life so far and so very proud of getting to the final out of 187 players.

Well, all I can say is lesson well and truly learnt. It may have been an expensive lesson learnt today but I know it will help me in the future so maybe it was cash well lost.  If anyone see's me with my hands behind my back or under a chair in future comps then take it as a bad sign that I am actually thinking about EVERY hand before I shove em in or pass.

I know you are right Tom, and am starting to feel all the amazing positives now actually after writing it all down.  We people are so bizarre, so many good things and all that is buzzing around my mashed head it the last hand, over and over again.  Human nature I guess. Ok then:

Right now it's hard to think about all the great play that got you in that spot. Once you've had a bit of time to reflect you'll realise you played a great tourney and had a great result. More experienced and successful players would lose all thier chips in exactly the same spot, maybe if you'd thought about some more you would still have put your chips in. It's hard to say that you've made a mistake in that spot. I for one am sure I would have done the same.

There will be a whole heap of 'next times' and you'll get your share of victories.

I would have loved to play this event with that structure but was in Norway , however i have kept up with the progress as usual here and would just like to add my own congratulations to Chilli , a superb performance .

As Peter will tell you , your raise to 25,000 and his reraise defined his hand but it is so easy to just react rather than stop and think that is why whenever an interviewer asks me for one line of advice i always say " think before you act "

Regardless , you are obviously an improving player with your recent results and i am sure you are constantly learning so i look forward to playing against you in the near future.

Thanks m8, that was very nice of you to say.  I am now suddenly feeling how miserable I sound, not really the case, I am overjoyed at the whole experience, honestly.  If I didn't beat myself over that hand then I feel I would never learn a thing.

Wow, that was nice.  Thank you Simon.  Fully taken on board believe me.  The annoying thing was that I usually think things out, but it was only about 2 times in 4 days that I came out firing on all cylinders.  The first time I read it right (and got lucky that his hand didnt improve) and the second time, well you know about that  :D :D

I've had more than a few thoughts about my own performance. I definately made a few errors both in my play and in in my strategy. You're right it's important to work these things out in order to improve. It's also important to recognise and celebrate what you did right and what you achieved.

It was a great tournament, fantastic fun, I think Gutshot can expect a Blonde invasion next year!

I would just like to say it was great to meet and play against you, you have a great game. I know how you feel, I played the best poker of my life for 3 days and blew it all on one hand on the final table. The hand is posted on the gutshot forum for the world to see to my embarrassment. I'm going to print it out and pin on the wall next to my bed. I was so upset by my play I couldn't think properly for about 3 hours. Poker really is a battle of mistakes. Like you I will learn from this and come back stronger. All the best Maria and hope to play against you again soon.

In the cold light of day, all is well today.  Obviously my mind flicks back to THAT hand and so it will for you also for a while but am feeling so fortunate today at how amazing this poker thing is.  Every single comp that goes by I learn something else.  You feel the most unbelievable highs and even worse lows but we sign up for another comp over and over again.  So we keep on trucking and as long as each time my imaginary suitcase of tricks gets fuller and fuller who can get down?
