I like them, they are my friends.   It is better to open the windows and persuade them to fly out.

Angell likes to eat them. A shame, because they are really rather nice things.

I don't like them.

They get into the lightshade above my workstation, then choose the most inconvenient moment to drop onto my head.

I tried that one - they had a nice big door to go out of, but still wouldn't budge. Infact, all their brothers and sisters came and joined the party too! That's when i decided to take it into my own hands!

They are crane flies. Dragon flies are big, usualy blue, and live near water.

I thought that it was a great  story about the increase in spiders on todays news.  The higher temperatures have increased numbers. I relocated a couple of spiders that where in my living room yesterday to under the stairs. They have a thriving community under there now, I am waiting for the time the gas man goes down there and never returns. Some of these spiders are massive

last night i spent watching my friends son carefully catching the horrible things in a tissue and putting them  out the back door, and laughed as a dozen flew in behind him. And just to let you know they are crane fly`s, not dragon.x

Did they look similar to each other?     I once had a lengthy conversation with a Wasp about the rugby, he was an interesting fella, but perhaps a little quiet.  Stupidly I mistook his girlfriend for his sister which caused a bit of bad feeling. He then tried to sting me.  Little rascal he was

More spiders = Less insects.

They munch the buggers.

A greater number of 8 legged things that crawl on the ground makes for less 6 legged buzzy things that fly in the air.

Anything that goes buzz should be sentenced to death.

I detest Daddy Long Legs - Ive had more sleepless nights off them bloody things than anything - EVER.  Buzzing around in my room, attacking me when I'm asleep.

I've just realised I had a fight with one just last night, I must of obliterated it though as there was no evidence on me or my bed this morning.

Death to all DLL's!!

P.S.  I do feel tight killing them, but my sleep is more important!

Sorry to hear that mate.  Next time you should try this technique instead -  Walk up to where the DLL is and politely say " come on big guy, please can you leave the room ", if he flys closer to the open window then give him some praise " Good boy, who's a clever boy then" .  Geneally this works for me most of the time.  Give that technique a try   :)up

Rookie ITB - go to your local woolworths and purchase the latest in insect killing machines.

Its shaped like a tennis racket takes battery's and when you press the button charges the strings with a small electrical charge - the most fun you can have in one's own house.

Whatever you do though don't drive around country lanes hanging out of the car window at dusk with said tennis racket listening to the sizzle of 100's of the little critters.

Also brilliant to torment the misses with.

we called them jannies or janny long legs. the trick to get them out is to turn off all the lights inside and let them fly to the light outside - if you have one. a lot of flying insects are attracted to light and thats why they come in to your home in the first place. i dont understand how you can swat and kill and hoover them up. theres no need  ;gobsmacked;

amazingly insects are actually attracted to the heat of a lightbulb rather than the light, its a common misconception
