Title: Who has the best SNG structure? Post by: Triple X on September 05, 2005, 10:51:28 PM I just opened a Will Hill account ahead of tomorrow's blonde tourney and thought i'd play a quick $10 SNG to get used to the interface etc as usually play on Pokerroom and VC.
Must say i was really disappointed by their structure. 10 hand clock and only 1,000 starting chips. just like party poker. Even with a loose table like i had it still becomes a crap-shoot with 4-5 left as blinds are 200-400. I came 2nd but thats still not the point. So who do people think have the best structure? I am not as interested in interface, ease of competition etc, but for me avoiding a crapshoot is sooo important. Looks like VC is the best i have seen so far (except i have crashing peoblems with them) as its on a clock and u start with 2000 chips... Any other thoughts?? Title: Re: Who has the best SNG structure? Post by: Ironside on September 05, 2005, 10:57:18 PM structure wise for SnG stars is best but the compertition is tougher than most sites
Title: Re: Who has the best SNG structure? Post by: snoopy1239 on September 05, 2005, 11:14:56 PM I like the ladders on ladbrokes.
I think it's 8 or 10 mins - starting chips 1500. No bingo near the end. only 1 prize. Only problem - u have to wait until the particular promotion ends be4 u can collect. Title: Re: Who has the best SNG structure? Post by: AdamM on September 05, 2005, 11:22:27 PM not really snoopy
the triple chance and turbo ladders are both excellent value. you make top 3 or top 4 respectively and get paid and you can buy in for as little as $3. they're good for $1000 a week for me at the minute. Title: Re: Who has the best SNG structure? Post by: Scottish Dave on September 05, 2005, 11:26:42 PM Betfair are the best in my opinion, which includes will hill as another skin!
yes only 1000 chips but blinds start at 7 / 15, so plenty of play! Title: Re: Who has the best SNG structure? Post by: AdamM on September 05, 2005, 11:29:06 PM but dont they double double double all the way?
Title: Re: Who has the best SNG structure? Post by: Ironside on September 05, 2005, 11:30:26 PM the problem with betfair STT and all crypto STT is they are not on a clock so the end game becomes a crap shoot prima and party are also guity of this
no matter what the stack size starts with or the blinds 10 hands per level means crap shoot at end Title: Re: Who has the best SNG structure? Post by: AdamM on September 05, 2005, 11:32:02 PM if Im on non-ladder STTs on Laddies I always play the 20 hand games. much better.
Title: Re: Who has the best SNG structure? Post by: TightEnd on September 05, 2005, 11:57:27 PM Stars for STT/SNG, but tough
I also like the Betfair sixpaks. Some Crypto SNGs are on a clock, some are every fifteen hands. I prefer the former Crypto for MTT, along with Stars/Laddies etc Party IMO is disappointing for SNGs...low starting chips, quick clock, but beatable Title: Re: Who has the best SNG structure? Post by: Ironside on September 06, 2005, 12:01:52 AM party is by far and away the most profitable SnGs on the net even if the low chips and the 10 hands a level structure sucks i am making the money around 40% of the time there and of that 40% i would win about 65% of time due to people trying to beat the bubble with 5 or 6 players left
Title: Re: Who has the best SNG structure? Post by: Junior Senior on September 06, 2005, 12:03:29 AM Wow.
does anyone consistantly lose and question their ability as a player?,... or am i on my own again? :) Title: Re: Who has the best SNG structure? Post by: Robert HM on September 06, 2005, 12:05:17 AM Don't go there, it pains me at the moment :'(
Title: Re: Who has the best SNG structure? Post by: Ironside on September 06, 2005, 12:06:12 AM atm i am losing badly on cash and MTT but making another in STT to make up loses
every now and then i have a bad run in stt and my bankroll dives but seeing as i started with a freeroll win i cant be doing too bad Title: Re: Who has the best SNG structure? Post by: AdamM on September 06, 2005, 12:08:17 AM Wow. does anyone consistantly lose and question their ability as a player?,... or am i on my own again? :) last time you posted something like that I agreed and said I felt the same. since I discovered Laddies Ladders I cant do that. I'm mashing them up. yuo lot stay away though, dont want too many sharks in the pool Title: Re: Who has the best SNG structure? Post by: TightEnd on September 06, 2005, 12:11:17 AM I'm breaking even
Now where's Snoopy's thread about what that sort of comment really means!! Title: Re: Who has the best SNG structure? I'm mashing them up. yuo lot stay away though, dont want too many sharks in the pool I actually use to do really well on the rounders on bet365 and according to my analysis of results since Jan is the only site and games that i consistently won on but i just hated the software so much. Think i'll go play those again and try these laddies things then. - for some reason though i am just drawn to pokerstars (the graphics, the games, the usability etc etc.) - just cant frickin win on it though!! Post by: Ironside on September 06, 2005, 12:17:55 AM party results (http://www.pokerprophecy.com/player_party.php?trial=true&player=psoironside) only claims to be 75% accurate and is only counting resent results
Title: Re: Who has the best SNG structure? Post by: Ironside on September 06, 2005, 12:18:56 AM ps no need to tell me i am steering clear of the 30$ tables everywhere else is fine
Title: Re: Who has the best SNG structure? Post by: tikay on September 06, 2005, 12:19:56 AM So you are OFFICIALLY a Pro.
And OFFICIALLY a Fish. Well that clears that up then. Title: Re: Who has the best SNG structure? Post by: ACE2M on September 06, 2005, 12:21:05 AM no question it's stars and laddies.
Stars i love for the level of play and laddies for the structure but fairly soft play. I play the sng's on billy's for buy in's to there 15k and 10k tourneys (which i love). The crapshoot factor on there is horrific, i had unbelievable run of bubbles on billy's recently 12 out of 15, all played correctly just got outdrawn by weaker hands over and over again. Purely for money making potential i recommend laddies and vc(but i refuse to play there). Title: Re: Who has the best SNG structure? Post by: Ironside on September 06, 2005, 12:25:12 AM you love stars because the play is good? are you mad?
i love stars as the structure is good but the standard of play makes it harder to make a decent profit whereas party the play is apalling and even though the structure is poor its easy to make money Title: Re: Who has the best SNG structure? Post by: ACE2M on September 06, 2005, 12:30:58 AM yeah i love it when the play is good.
Use your best play on the good players they will fall for it. All other sites aprt from when i play £200+ buy ins i play totally straight up. A fish will not understand your beautifully constructed bluff. A good player will think what i want him to think, thats the theory anyway. Title: Re: Who has the best SNG structure? Post by: Ironside on September 06, 2005, 12:32:20 AM a good player reckonises all the good plays and makes good plays back where as fish just call you when you have the nuts
Title: Re: Who has the best SNG structure? Post by: ACE2M on September 06, 2005, 12:39:34 AM i disagree entirely.
a fish will call with 2nd pair and weak kicker because he thinks your bluffing. A quality player will consider far more, such as blinds left if he's wrong, your play up to that point the level of danger on the board, etc etc etc i am not a proffesional player so i see no reason to crush fish all day. I want to get better and the only way i get better is by playing the better players. If a player correctly figures out a move of mine, i can spend time figuring out the floors in it and play it better next time. If i was proffessional i would play $50 sngs on pp all day every day. Title: Re: Who has the best SNG structure? I play the cruise ladders, Adam. Only 1st gets the prize. Because it is done by the clock, there is plenty of time to outplay your opponents, even heads-up. Heads-up on a 'hand-limit' game usually turns into a lottery. Not on these though, and that's why I find them more profitable. I'm building up my points and plan to cash in on them when the promotion ends. Title: Re: Who has the best SNG structure? I think this would be true live, but, for me, getting better online means learning how best to play the fish. Title: Re: Who has the best SNG structure? Post by: The Baron on September 06, 2005, 01:01:27 AM For STT's I've never found anywhere better than Ultimate Bet. It's very slick on graphics, useability, speed etc - just like Stars. It has a good clock and a good structure and is hardly ever a crapshoot come the last 4.
I think it's better than Stars due to the fact that it's easier to win. It also has a gret mini view option which rocks. Once you try it you'll never go back! Just played an "ultra" SNG on Pacific - 10 seats, blinds go up every 2 minutes... I finished second - the whole things took the grand total of 15 minutes. Good for a laugh though (and there's no time for anyone to swear at you in the chat box)

Title: Re: Who has the best SNG structure? Post by: pokerram on September 06, 2005, 09:55:50 AM as a player who plays mainly on ps,ub,and laddys. i reckon the easiest sng are ps turbo ones. ive always found laddys hard to play against. Suppose it all depends on horses for courses. pokerram
Title: Re: Who has the best SNG structure? Post by: luckyblind on September 06, 2005, 10:11:21 AM I find the stars turbo 2 table tournaments the fishiest at the moment. A stars turbo is a 5 min clock so probably less hands early per round but once the table is 7 or less than you start to get more hands per level than the 10 per level sites. I think maybe it is the 'turbo' in the title that makes the players act like suicidal maniacs on crack when they are dealt Ax or 22-66. In fact last night I had some nutbag call an all in in the first level with K3o which is nice. ???
Title: Re: Who has the best SNG structure? Post by: ifm on September 06, 2005, 10:29:32 AM slightly off subject.
At Walsall they introduced a late night "speed poker" tourny on a Friday/Saturday at 1am. Even though the blind levels were 15mins (the normal Friday tourny is 20 mins) everyone who played in them must have thought they had to go allin with any ace cuz it was called "speed poker". Amazing what effect a name has on some peeps Title: Re: Who has the best SNG structure? Post by: AdamM on September 06, 2005, 11:37:28 AM For STT's I've never found anywhere better than Ultimate Bet.
