Title: How many Football grounds have you been to? Post by: TightEnd on November 03, 2006, 01:50:38 PM I am about 10 away from completing the "92 club" by watching a match at every English league club
I was about 15 away 10 years ago but marriage, young kids and then board involvement with a non league club stopped me making much progress. Then came poker. I play it by the book, when a team moves ground I have to do them again, and promotion/relegation from the Conference changes the goalposts every year My outstandings are newer clubs like Boston and Yeovil, some far flung parts like Torquay and Darlington's new ground and the new Emirates stadium too. If you are Scottish, tell me about Scottish league grounds you've been to. English...English grounds. I've also done Atletico Madrid, Red Star Belgrade (we were in Europe twice as a result of Worhington cup wins), Barcelona and once, though it seems especially stupid now, an entire preseason tour of Norway watching Leciester. Amazing, ridiculous and true. Over to you... Title: Re: How many Football grounds have you been to? Post by: ifm on November 03, 2006, 01:57:32 PM Talking about new grounds i was at Coventry's Ricoh stadium in the week, very impressed (the old ground was a dump).
As for the rest i need to think about it, i have supported blues seriously home and away from about 87 till 94, then it got so depressing i rarely bother these days. So as you can imagine i have been to just about every "small" clubs ground (all 2nd and 3rd division grounds) but very few of the top flight grounds and NONE abroad LOL. Title: Re: How many Football grounds have you been to? Post by: Graham C on November 03, 2006, 02:22:13 PM I've not been to many - Highbury, spuds, West Ham, Coventry (old ground), Walsall (for a gig - does that count?), Millenium Stadium, Leeds Utd, Reading (old and new), Ajax & Perth Glory. I think that's about it. Covered some miles though with the Glory one!
edit: Wembley! Title: Re: How many Football grounds have you been to? Post by: Acidmouse on November 03, 2006, 03:18:38 PM I watched Leeds from 1986-2002 pretty much every game, recently a few Bradford games.

Random foreign grounds I've been to for football are the Parc Des Princes, Ajax Arena (awesome) and bizarrely, Stenhousemuir! Title: Re: How many Football grounds have you been to? Post by: Rooky9 on November 04, 2006, 08:36:44 AM Firstly :respect: to those who have been to so many grounds!
My current list of stadiums of note.... Post by: Longy on November 06, 2006, 02:17:12 AM Around half of the current English football grounds, i followed norwich home and away very actively in my teenage years. Have to say my passion for it has disappeared for it in recent years, i managed for my first game of the season on Saturday!
Highlight would have to be going to The Millenium Stadium to watch Norwich in the playoff final, lows include going to Whaddon Road (cheltenham) to watch City play in league cup tie which we lost, what was i thinking! Post by: Longy on November 06, 2006, 01:14:50 PM Highlight would have to be going to The Millenium Stadium to watch Norwich in the playoff final, That was a great day  Whatever happened to Darren Carter? It was a great day, in all honesty we were happy to be there that day, though i would argue to this day we had slightly the better of the game. There was more chance of Norwich U10's winning that penalty shoot out, we missed so many penalties that season. Darren Carter not a clue, alot of the Norwich players that day disappeared without trace within a year or two. Title: Re: How many Football grounds have you been to? Post by: Acidmouse on November 06, 2006, 02:39:03 PM I watched Charlton at home at Valley/Selhurst park/then back to Valley. 1st time I ever saw them was in Birmingham when they Flucked it past Leeds in extra-time in the first playoffs ever I believe. Aizlewood, Shirtliff, reid, curbs, bolder etc..man that was a good team then for Charlton.

Title: Re: How many Football grounds have you been to? Post by: amcgrath1uk on October 03, 2007, 10:15:43 AM mine's quite pathetically low for such an avid supporter
seeing as man City haven't been abroad much in the last 15 years it counts them out.. and never got into the routine of going to away matches when younger... 1) Old Trafford.. to watch an England schoolboys match vs Scotland.. given as a reward for winning the double double in primary school 2) Ewood Park... to watch a testimonial with a Blackburn supporting better half 3) Maine Road... soooo many times I've lost count, didn't miss a game for nearly 10 years ( at the Huddersfield 10-1 for example.. and am on the video as proof!) 4) City Of Manchester Stadium.. not been often to be honest, went for 4 straight home games at the start of Stuart Pearce's reign.. starting with the Liverpool last minute win, ending with Fowler's missed penalty vs Middlesborough and David James up front ( which I called 10 mins before it happened) 5) Wembley.. I must have THE worst record for any fan.. only been twice... Full Members Cup Final vs Chelsea in the late 80s... go 1 up.. Chelsea make it 5-1 with 5 mins to go, and my dad decides its time to go ( I had no reason to stay either lol)... hear cheering walking down Wembley Way a few times.. getting more depressed... of course it ends 5-4 with City nearly sneaking the draw. Second time being the Playoff final vs Gillingham.. at the time living in London, and couldn't get the time off work.. still went..2-0 going into injury time, so decide I better scarper before it gets too busy. I manage to run and get on the tube without hearing a thing ( I WAS quick in those days), and decide to go for a stiff drink before going to work. Of course, walk into the pub ( empty) and see City celebrating.. literally sunk to my knees and YELLED Title: Re: How many Football grounds have you been to? no but i can drink a bottle of brown ale without it touching the sides Typing that list ran a lot of emotion through me remembering some of the best times ive ever had and some of the most depressing(losing the league when ahead by miles, two fa cup final loses when we never turned up etc etc etc),but i guess thats the curse of following the team i love. Football kinda saddens me at the minute,i cant deny some of the games are fantastic, some of the players are just sublime but i just cant comprehend how much even average players are being bought and sold for and the rediculous money going in there pockets, more money in a season than ill earn in a lifetime.Teams like arsenal not having one british/irish player let alone english and local, and sky-setantas-arttv over saturated coverage just makes kids into glory hunters which kid is going to support brentford and go to griiffen park when its just premiership rammed down your throat day in day out. sorry rant over HOWAY THE LADS col Title: Re: How many Football grounds have you been to?
