Why is it that if you are white and from the British Isles that you automatically have to celebrate Christmas? Being an athiest i haven't celebrated Christmas for about 18 years now and yet i still get people giving me the spanish inquisition when i tell them that 25th December will be just the same as any other Monday. Usually the conversation goes along the line of.....

Them: "So what will you be doing on Christmas day"

Me: "Nothing, i dont celebrate Christmas"

Them: "Oh dont be silly, you must come round and celebrate it with us"

Me: "Sorry, i'm not religious - i don't celebrate Christmas"

This continues for a while before in the end i say

Me: "So what did you do to celebrate Eid?"

Them: "Nothing, we're not muslim"

Me: "And what did you do for Yom Kippur?"

Them: "Nothing, we're not jewish"

Its usually at this point that they think i'm being stroppy and a scrooge :D

The best one is those who when i say "i'm not religious" reply "neither are we but Christmas isnt about religion"!?!?!?!?!?!  :dontask:

For those who do celebrate it though, have a good holiday period :)up

i am now  into christmas mode,having had a lazy day off after a late morning poker session,i decided to cook dinner for my wife and son ,,,,nice pasta mmmm my Italian uncles recipe top,top,top.
is it normal to drink a bottle of champagne to yourself in the proses  ?  2 hours now I'm pi55ed lol,i dont think i got a problem,have i ?

Christmas must be upon us - I'm having to practice that smile in the mirror - the 'ooooh - thanks - just what I wanted' along with the smile that says 'I'm still waiting you tight B%%%%, an air freshener from the garage just doesn't make the grade when I know you bought your ex wife ________' (Fill in the gaps as appropriate!) And I spent 17 hours queuing to get you the last ________ in the shop. (Fill in the gaps as appropriate.)

Matt, for the vast majority of people Christmas isn't a religious holiday any more - it's a Western cultural holiday to provide a week or so off work for people in the middle of winter (in the Northern Hemisphere) and to get us to churn the wheels of the economy by moving money from our bank accounts into those of Argos.

If you think it's got anything to do with a young teenage girl giving birth in a stable, those days have long since past.

So quit grumbling and get drunk whilst wearing a paper crown like the rest of us.

I'm afraid I'll have to side with the pro Christmas people.

I can't wait.............This year as usual I'll have both children with ME, were off for an Indian Xmas lunch, followed by evening with our bestest friends.
No driving for me cos the kids are doing that, lots of ........i say, lots of drink pour moi :cheers:

Must admit i still don't even know what i'm doing for xmas yet, had some very bad news recently and as a result have no christmas spirit.

a guy who, at this time of his life is very low, his wife has left him and taken the kids, he is in heaps of debt and living rough.
  One night after finishing his 6th can of tennants super strength, decides to pluck up the courage to jump off london bridge.
   Just as he is about to jump over, he hears sleigh bells and low and behold santa arrives on his sleigh.
     "i hope your not going to jump off this bridge to your death" santa says
   "well there is nothing left for me" the man replies, explaining to santa how his life has gone from bad to worse recently.
"don't be too hasty ive got something that may make you change your mind"  " i will grant you three wishes"
already bemused by the situation the man agrees as lets face it he has nothing else to lose!!
  the first wish of having his wife and kids back is granted by santa with a click of his fingers. The second wish of £1million in cash is granted in the same manner. Steve is thinking about his third when he says, "to be honest santa, these are the only two things that i want, ill let you have my final wish" santa thanks him and explains that nobody has ever given a wish away.

Santa then explains to the man that he is a homosexual, and given that he is on business all day, that he hasnt had much sex in a while.  "my wish, explains santa, is to bend you over the sleigh and give you a good seeing to"

the man  looks shocked however agrees as he fears that if he does not, his 2 wishes would be taken away.

So santa starts out having sex with the man, when he taps the man on the shoulder and asks,

  "sorry i didnt get your name"   

  "steve" the man replies
 
"and how old are you steve"

The only significance December 25th holds for me is that it was that day 1year ago that I won my first ever MTT :)
