Title: Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous
Post by: snoopy1239 on December 27, 2006, 07:24:50 PM
My eyes widened at the world El Blondie lived in every time he penned a blog entry, and now we've got the same with Blonde's newest recruit, Marc 'Mr Cool' Goowin.

It might only be sun, sea and golf, but when he's talking about private jets, big bucks and Phil Ivey, it's hard to resist a quick sneaky peak at what Mr Cool's got to say.

If you are as easily tempted as I am, then feel free to check out this blog entry by the Bronzed Brummie.

Enjoy and feel free to dream that you are there, just as I did.  ;envious;

As someone who doesn't know him I'm not sure how I take that Blog entry

I think it's really "kid in a sweet factory" stuff. The guy has no edge whatsoever, he's just a regular guy who's made good. A bit effiminate for my liking, though.

If you dont know him, like I dont, some of the things may be taken as a bit disrespectful or perhaps boastful, 25k a hole etc....

Isn't this the life we all aspire to?

I'd like it for a year or two - but at the end of the day I like security and humbleness.

When I asked Marc why he went on 'Million Dollar Cash Game' against all those top pro's, he replied in one word...

"Ego"

At least he's honest, gotta give him that.

He's gone from selling double-glazing to rubbing shoulders with the big boys of the poker world.

I read his piece as though he can hardly believe it himself.

Good luck to the fella.

I know exactly what you mean Tikay.  People can be misinterpreted when they write.  For example, you seem like a decent bloke when you post on here....

Two young men were walking down the street, 1 of them was American, the other was British. They walked past a brand new Ferrari, the American druled over it and declared "i am going to work hard in everything i do and make myself a success so one day i will own a Ferrari" the British man took 1 look at it and declared "show-off bastard" as he slashed his key's down the side of the car.

Why is the British psyche so anti-success? Why does the nation seem to take joy in the fall of successful people, why is there no "great British dream"?

Well for me, Marc's post was totally tongue in cheek.

Before you judge him, talk to him for a few minutes.

(but not too long, he charges a fortune!)

I will tell you that you will not meet a more honest person than Mark. He likes to make the stories a little better, the beats a little worse, but he is a genuine guy all the way.

I met him at DC's the night before the hill grand prix in 05 (Barron was there) and this guy is just good shit along w/ bring ultra competitive and a great poker player. You ask Junior ( Greg Hill) about that laydown of set over set in the heat in the grand prix and you will understand!

Mr Cool is in a different class, and he tells a great story ;popcorn;

He was to my left in a Main Event at Bolton one day. He murdered me, really, I did not know what day it was.

I Raised it up with 8-8, he called. Hmm....

Flop was A-K-J. I bet out, full Pot, let's see where we are.. He Re-Raised, I passed. He showed 2-2. Don't like him.

PS - But I cashed, 3rd place I think, for £6,000......! (Any excuse to chirp).

I think what rooky is trying to say is "im sure hes a lovely fellow, but going from being a double glazing salesman to writing a blog about the life of the rich and famous, is surely a tongue in cheek wind up by him, surely"

...surely?

ps, he did make me laugh in one of the poker magazines, perched next to a clapped out ferrari dressed all in black  like a mafia gangster...v amusing. Im sure he's a good crack to be around, and doesnt take himself seriously at all....surely?
