Not in court today, I have the kids, could resist a quick look at what was happening, see you later. Not sure I should tell you but I'm off to a friend's farm so the children can play with the sheep. He's wearing a sort of oatmeal or off-white woolen suit, like the sort of thing that the Blue-Rinsers buy in Marks & Sparks. It's absolutely horrendous, the tat-man would refuse it, but he actually looks super-duper cool in it.
During the break, I am off to buy some batteries for the camera. We GOTTA get some pics sharpish. I am afraid I am flying solo again today. This week we have had a rain record, for 100 years it has never rained som much, hehe. 225 mm in 12 hours means 225 liters per sq meter in one day. The Blue Club has closed down where we had it, but we are looking for a new place to have it, I guess we will open sometime before christmas. I might come over to England sometime before Xmas as well, I will let you know if I do. Gus Hansen is originally from Denmark but now officialy lives in Monte Carlo but like most of these players he spens all his life living out of a suitcase. Can't recall who says he was a lucky player but please keep thinking players like Gus are just lucky. I dont think I have met a more mathmatical player and he is probably one of the most intelligent people you could ever talk to about poker. If Gus and Daniel N are just lucky how come they win year after year in the biggest tournaments? Must just be the luckiest guys on the planet I suppose. Next time you watch him on TV as he bobs his head- he is working out every possible variable on the hand, not just nodding for effect. If you are going to make a move on a Gus type player you better make sure you have enough chips to seriously hurt him as he wont mind gambling with you if the odds are correct (allin for aything less than 10% of his stack and hes calling you I promise with any 2). Oh and finally - TIKAY GET SOME BLOODY WORK DONE LAZY ARSE ;) Title: Re: PokerStars Barcelona EPT, Live Update, DAY TWO Post by: hotdog on September 17, 2005, 08:25:54 PM good comments
Title: Re: PokerStars Barcelona EPT, Live Update, DAY TWO Post by: tikay on September 17, 2005, 08:30:49 PM OOps, sorry Ariston. OK, Seat allocations.
Seat 1, Gus Hansen Seat 2, Patrick Mortensen Seat 3, Jan Boubli Seat 4, Romain Feriolo Seat 5, Christer Johnsson Seat 6, Patrick Antonius Seat 7, Anton Bergstroem Seat 8, Dario Alioto Come on then, what's the 1-2-3? Anyone gets it right - one winner only - blonde will give you free entry into the next blonde Tourney. Not much £££'s, but just a bit of fun really. Title: Re: PokerStars Barcelona EPT, Live Update, DAY TWO Post by: ariston on September 17, 2005, 08:31:13 PM EV doesnt really count in tourneys IMO hotdog- cash games yes but tourneys come down to battling stack sizes. If Gus is huge chip leader this could be a massacre, then again he could still finish 8th. The difference between players like gus, atit, thewy, camel and co is that they are trying to win the tournament from the start, they are Gambling with your chips anyway if they have a huge stack- how do you think they get 700k in tourneys? They haven't had aces 73 times I can guarantee it.

About him being a winning player- didn't realise you knew gus but there are not many players who have won as much in tournament poker over the last 3 years- if he could just avoid the big cash game at bellagio he would be ok ;) He doesn't really care about the money when he's in tournaments which gives him a huge edge over players looking at the telephone numbers on the prizefunds nowadays.

Imagine our stacks if we had aces 73 times, i think u can get put in that bracket russ... i agree with russ on the gus point tho he is defo alot better than people think! If he feels he's priced in he's in, and he trusts his read! also he has to think he can outplay alot of people which gives him an incentive to enter pots! how many 9-3's do u here about that he did'nt show to get those chips! I'll go... gus johannsen boubli Title: Re: PokerStars Barcelona EPT, Live Update, DAY TWO Post by: I KNOW IT on September 17, 2005, 08:47:59 PM You have hit the nail on the head with your last comment, about the money. Title: Re: PokerStars Barcelona EPT, Live Update, DAY TWO Post by: wsopin07 on September 17, 2005, 08:52:43 PM I can comment on the Gus thing, if you dont take chances to get the chips, and you dont gamble w/ the chips once you get them you cant win. I laugh at players in Atlantic City this week when I had 18,000 in chips and I played my 4/7 twice to CALL allins for 2,200 once and 2,700 another time. I want to takeout as many players as possible. If Gus knocks out the 1st 2 players it will be done.
I also take on the same players over and over, I have doubled up guys 3 or 4 times in 1 event only to take the 4 or 5th crack at them to knock them out. They are usually so tight their stack always goes down to a "shorter" stack that I can bully and gamble with. 1. He knows everyone knows he plays all kinds of cards, therefore he's far more likely to get his big hands paid off than Johnny ABC. 2. There are rumours that Gus ran into a bad run of luck/got found out* in big cash games in Vegas and went broke. There are tales of Doyle Brunson lending him 4 million dollars, or something. Someone obviously has faith in his skills. He's certainly a very divisive player - personally I like him. * delete as applicable Title: Re: PokerStars Barcelona EPT, Live Update, DAY TWO Post by: tikay on September 17, 2005, 08:58:09 PM And here's Rhow & the Poker 425 Producer, hard at work in their office.......

And good to see some pics of hot girls. ;) Title: Re: PokerStars Barcelona EPT, Live Update, DAY TWO Post by: I KNOW IT on September 17, 2005, 09:03:34 PM You have hit the nail on the head with your last comment, about the money. That is a massive edge which to his credit he takes great advantage of, where the average joe only gets to play a few major events each year. I know a lot of world class pro's , some share your thoughts , some mine. Lets review this in a couple of years ;) If you worry about the money at all you are dead, thats why I dont make deals and I dont look at the payouts, it does not matter, i play the people at the table and the cards that are dealt. Thats why the guy folded QQ against my 22 four handed at the final table at the WSOP this year, the worst lay down I have ever been a part of. But I agree that is a big edge for your game. Look forward to seeing your final when it comes on our screens. Title: Re: PokerStars Barcelona EPT, Live Update, DAY TWO Post by: wsopin07 on September 17, 2005, 09:04:19 PM Didnt get unlucky or found out his game just doesnt suit a cash game- especially one where players regularly lose a million in a night. He is IMO one of the best NL tournament players in the world. In cash he is allegedly a bit of a fish. and this is why the rookie plays no cash games, my game is not suited for it, once they have your $$$$$$$$$$$$$ it takes time to get it back, I would rather play 10 $10,000 events and try to win one ;D Title: Re: PokerStars Barcelona EPT, Live Update, DAY TWO Post by: tikay on September 17, 2005, 09:05:35 PM The Final begins...... I wonder if the day will ever come when the interests of the players & spectators get precadence over the TV companies. Still, I suppose that the TV companies ARE paying a lot of money to the players for the privelege of showing them. And all that the poker players are stumping up is, well, the Prize Money...... Nice number he's got, eh? Yeah they are both really good writers. Coincidentally, Mrs Div saw me reading Pauly's site tonight and asked what it was all about. When I explained what he and Brad (aka Otis) do for a living, her precise words were 'Is that what you'd like to do?' No prize for guessing the answer! We DO appreciate that Update, presumably from someone inside the Arena, but PLEASE don't cut & paste stuff from other sites. We have a Gentleman's Agreement with almost ALLL sites to play it with a straight bat.
Hope that does not give offence to you, but it's important to us to retain our credibility. Thanks Fox, & welcome to blonde. Just got you posting, & we give you a ticking off! Sorry mate. Title: Re: PokerStars Barcelona EPT, Live Update, DAY TWO Post by: RED-DOG on September 18, 2005, 12:29:39 AM Hi Denis - well I can see the pics. I assumed everybody could........ Red - yup, Lou Lou your filly. How old were you at the time, 8?, 9? I must say, those two books you gave me (basically, the Life Story of Tom's Mum & Dad) are AWESOME reading. Lovely little anecdotes, one after the other, & lots of pics of Tom as a kid. I was about 10 when I got her, I loved her, I used to ride her for miles without bridle or saddle and if I got off to walk she would follow me like a puppy, she used to roll over so that I could scrach her belly One year she developed strangles, these are large abcesses that develop on a horse's neck and under the jaw, they are quite easy to treat, you wait until they are 'ripe' and lance them, they heal really quickly Lou Lou developed an abcess inside her windpipe, a rare complication known to the old horse men as 'bastard strangles' we couldnt lance it and she almost suffocated. then an old horse trader told my dad he could cure her if we would sell her cheap, we had no choice, she was dying so we sold her for a pittance The old man did cure her though, he shoved a hose down her windpipe and burst the abcess, so it was a happy ending, for her at least I have had many horses with strangles since, and never had a problem Title: Re: PokerStars Barcelona EPT, Live Update, DAY TWO Post by: tikay on September 18, 2005, 12:33:20 AM There you go, a Red-Dog classic. Title: Re: PokerStars Barcelona EPT, Live Update, DAY TWO Post by: RED-DOG on September 18, 2005, 12:39:42 AM are they published? Yes, they were not intended to be, they were written as a way of handing down a dying history, but someone saw them and liked them, and he helped to get a few hundred copies into print Title: Re: PokerStars Barcelona EPT, Live Update, DAY TWO Post by: ifm on September 18, 2005, 12:41:02 AM you must point me towards them, i love that sort of thing
Title: Re: PokerStars Barcelona EPT, Live Update, DAY TWO Post by: tikay on September 18, 2005, 12:47:43 AM Ian, then you will LOVE these. Realy fascinating, & some great pics too. Now, the Final has re-started, & blinds are now 20k-40k, not sure of the Antes though. Patrick Antonius has 650,000. Christer Johnsson has 1,115,000 And Boubli has bounced back, he's around 1,430,000 Title: Re: PokerStars Barcelona EPT, Live Update, DAY TWO Post by: tikay on September 18, 2005, 12:49:39 AM And almost instantly they re-started, we lose Patrick Antoinius, who was busted by Jan, who must have over 2 million now. Caroline now does the links & "going in" interviews, this lady does the exit interviews. Don't know the name of this new lady, but she does a really professional interviewing job, one of the best I have ever seen. Good questions, nicely phrased. John Duthie. Got a heap of stick, some of it deserved, but not all by any means. He worked hard to ensure blonde got facilities here, & for all this Season's EPT events still to come. Thanks John. Cionrad Brunner, & his colleagues at the Sponsors, PokerStars, ditto. Thomas Kremser, nothing is too much trouble for the Austrian tikay. Gerrard, at the Gran Casino de Barcelona, for sorting out the failed wi-fi, without which we would have been in big trub. And most of all, to you guys for bearing with me during a difficult Live Update. I knew Jen would be away, but it did not cross my mind that I would not be able to cope solo. Wrong!
