Title: Final D Day has arrived
Post by: suzanne on January 07, 2007, 07:10:13 AM
I promised myself I would never deposit again and after several months of trying to up the stakes slowly and to be honest playing bloody solid and getting so many bad beats its unreal...I have now gone bust.

Blonde bank balance is $0.00.

Finally gave up tonight and blew my last $70 on cash.

Sad day for me...I will play out my action points and hopefully will get lucky.

If you enjoy it, just because you are not winning doesn't mean you should quit.  Just have a monthly deposit budget and once it's gone, it's gone.

Using AP's is a good way to play though and you never know what it will lead too

 ;iagree; :goodpost:

The reasons why people play are numerous and all valid. if your wish is to make money then your reaction may be correct. If it is to play with people you know on line and have some fun then allow yourself a small allowance and stop when it has gone. If it goes well then you do not need to reload the following month. To be honest Suz I give up online at least 6 times a year when I think I am in the middle of a long  long run of bad beats. Right now I am listening to the rugby whilst playing a sit n go. If I lose obviously I have the choice of shouting at the kids. One final thought in this eclectic mix is I still prefer playing live and my luck in live games (and if I'm being honest my play) is well below average at the moment. I will never give up my live game because it is my reason for playing.

Oh Suz,  Suz,   Suz!!!

A couple of comments to make, firstly I agree with Silo in that you should consider the fun aspect of what your last deposit money has given you.   It seems your last deposit has lasted several months and you should compare this with other possible forms of entertainment.  Imagine you went and played a weekly night of bingo costing, say £15 a time.  Would you give it up after a couple of weeks because you hadn't won?  If you were having fun and considered it good entertainment for your money then you wouldn't think twice about carrying on and your poker should be the same.

Think back to your last deposit all those months ago.....could you have spent that money on anything else that would've given you better value entertainment wise?

Secondly, it seems you do well at lower limits but then struggle when you move up.  This reminds me of the the old Tommy Cooper gag......"Doctor...Doctor...it hurts when I move my arm like this" to which Doctor Tommy replies "well don't do it then !!"
  rotflmfao

A silly comparison maybe but possibly valid in that if you win at low levels and, also importantly, have fun there, then why do you want to move up anyway?

There's no written rule that says you have to progress up the levels if you're happy and successful where you are.

Equally though if you do want to progress up the levels then obviously that is your choice, but you do need careful monitoring of your bankroll.  It sounds like you maybe manage this correctly on the way up and only move up a level when you have sufficient funds to do so. However does the reverse apply?   When you reached your highest level did you move back down when you lost the relevant amount of your roll?  Not moving back down the levels if you start losing means the likelihood is you lose everything at the higher level.

Apologies if I've got the above totally wrong, no offence meant it was just an observation on how it looks from someone who knows you reasonably well.   :-*

One final thought, you are very well known and clearly very popular (and deservedly so!) with lots of people who play on the Blonde poker site.  Whilst the upside to this is obvious and great fun there may well be a downside in that a lot of these people will have comprehensive notes on how you play.  I suspect they may know your game better than you know theirs and this disadvantage becomes more of a factor as you move up the levels and come across a greater percentage of players who use their notes in this way.

One thing I would definitely consider as an interesting experiment would be to, maybe, change your name for a while. Not permanently but just to see if the anonymity made a difference in your results.  :dontask:

Overall, Suz I think the most important thing of all this for you to decide, is exactly why you play poker. Is it for the social element of the fun and camaradarie or is it to make as much money as possible? Once that goal is clear in your own mind I think it can only help.

and er.......second most important thing is to be careful posting in the early hours after a bad night's poker!  ;D  Go to bed and sleep on it first !   ;)

Suz,

I love your honesty and you determination to be more than a social player who loses more than they win. With this one quality (and some effort) I'm sure you can be a break even or winning player soon enough.

Hi Suz
I dont know you like the rest of the players but i can assume what sort of player you are. You are a solid tight player so it pains you when your statistically best hand gets done by a dogged one. This can be annoying when playing no limit and have one main suggestion before you give up completely- LIMIT/PL CASH HOLDEM.

You should see more profit for your premium hands and if you do suffer bad beats your bankroll should take as big as a hit as you would see in NL. Also the different variation of styles needed compared to NL should develop your all round poker game and belief in the skill instead of luck being the underlying factor in poker.

These posts seem to come round every month,or is it my immagination?

Its a woman thing I KNOW IT...and although I KNOW its coming I just cant stop myself from playing.

My intentions are to play small stake and have an early night but when my butt is whooped on a $1 stt its a no win situation. Im annoyed to have been beaten at that level so move up a bit...then up a bit more. Till I finally blow!!

Yesterday and tonight I havent played at all, I didnt look on the forum yesterday and although im sure most of you will say "so what" to me that has been hard.

I admit I am totally obsessed with poker...I lack that natural talent but my craving to improve my game has taken over my whole life.

In one way it has improved the way I think as I am no longer tolerant of bullies (always been a doormat)...now I am 1 step ahead ;-)

I admit I am totally obsessed with the game and it HAS to stop.

I really wanted to play in Kevs game tonight but I didnt (nice comeback btw with 88...luck box xx)

This is sooooooo spot on that its almost spooky........Keithy........you are the man of my dreams...ditch the wife and we can live of my (edit..ur) winnings :-)

I will do as you say and will open an account that no one knows about and see how I do...2 nights with no poker and its killing me.

I still have LOADS of action points but I meant what I said...I will NOT deposit on Blonde so fingers crossed.

What was it about that boy and the wolf?

Flushy do you EVER have something constructive to say?

Believe it or not..everytime I say I will never play poker again I MEAN IT...its not about the boy calling wolf.

I crave to become a better player but I am so frustated that the poker boom did not come 20yrs ago, if it had then I would have had more confidence to have pushed a lot faster (plus you would have still been in nappies) and honestly feel I might have been a contender.

As it is I know I lack confidence but I also know I have a game so you never know, there is a few years in me yet ;-)

I have also supported Blonde online since the day it opened and although I only play $5/10 stt/mtt games im pretty sure my rake has surpassed yours...how often do we see Jack Bauer online???

SO SHUT IT!!

I don't think accusing people of being less blonde than you is too constructive either.

Errr well how come you give up every month then? If you really mean it? I think its more a case of craving for attention, and well the 3rd time is too much for me!

Yeah you almost certainly have raked more than me on Blonde, my loyalty is to blue square, they spent money on sponsoring me and it would be wrong to switch. I hope you can understand that.

I think its a dangerous road for someone to go down over who is "more blonde" when as far as i can tell you have never actually added something to blonde. I am a regular poster in the HA forum where i advice less experienced players on strategy that i have learnt through hours and $'s at the table. Not to mention doing 2 live updates (and helping out in many others) at no charge.

If you want to carry on down this road you are most welcome.

This community shouldn't be about how much you rake, or how much you post.

ttttreregg should be as welcome as Royal Flush, should be as welcome as suzanne.

There will be a book opening soon on the bout of the year, Kool and the Gang v The Royal Family, you can rebuild your bankroll on that :D

Suzanne you posted earlier in this thread about losing a 1$ STT then getting frustrated and going higher, losing again and then going higher again, this is probably your biggest downfall.
If you feel frustrated by losing an STT stop playing for an hour go kick the cat have a cup of tea calm down and then go back and play another STT playing while frustrated upset and chasing to make up for a loss will always result in bad play from you and more losses, i suffered from this when i first started playing if i lost 20$ playing 5$ stt's i'd try a 10$ stt and so on unfortunately it's a sure fire way to go busto as i learnt a few times
Best of luck on your freerolls and keep  ;D
