Title: WSOP 2007 Improvements
Post by: Div on March 19, 2007, 07:35:06 PM
Sorry if this has been done already...

Harrahs did a press briefing this week where they outlined some improvements for WSOP 2007. Amongst the highlights:

- double starting chips for all smaller events
- Kem playing cards
- 300 Vegas based dealers to receive extra training prior to the tournament. So the dealers shipped in from other Harrahs sites will mainly be used to backfill the regular gaming tables
- expanded seating capacity

All of which sounds like they have actually listened to some of last years complaints.

I cant see using the KEMS as an improvement, COPAGS are way better im my opinion that is.

There were multiple complaints about the cards last year marking very easily. Including a couple of players getting penalties for complaining so forcibly.

If you're a rock, yeah.

They're blatantly doing this to appease the people who travel hundreds and sometimes thousands of miles to these events. And, of course, to keep them in the casino for longer.

And how does getting double the starting chips keep you in the Casino longer?!?! Surely this would keep you OUT of the Casino for longer?!?

1000 chips for a $1000 buy in event is a joke.

I dont think they should really give out bracelets for the smaller events, they should be keeping them pretty exclusive IMO, for say the 5k events and above.

I think they dont give out enough bracelets - if it were down to me i'd extend it to 365 events every year - with a monster $100000 buy in once every four years.

People can pick and choose then when they fly to Vegas to compete for a bracelet, hotel room prices won't suddenly rocket in price for 6 weeks of the year and Harrah's pick up all the loose ends from the US internet gambling laws.

(if any Harrah's staff are reading this idea - my commission is 2% or 10000 bananas, which ever is the cheaper! :))

well said m3.

makes the whole schedule way more appealing now.

I know but they shouldn't be giving bracelets out like smarties, devalues the whole thing. Maybe just give them to the 'world champions'?

they have been giving them out like smarties for years otherwise phil h wouldnt have 10 or is it 11 why make it harder for the newer players to catch him up seeing as he won most of his when fields were 10% the size they are now

I think the double chips is a huge improvement, and as M3Boy says, it means more play at the poker table so less time for the punters to be in the casino.

Harrah's made a lot of mistakes last year, so fair play to them for learning this year.

Double chips is a great move and will benefit the better players.

I played in the £2000 NLHE event last year and it was a real blow only to be given 2000 chips. The second hand in I had two pair to matey boys trip 2's on the flop and somehow managed to get away from the hand without losing all my chips. Still, I was so shortstacked taht the only move left to me was all-in, which is pretty heart breaking for your first WSOP event.
Well done to WSOP for doubling those starting chips!!!!!!

The thing about wsop events is the structure is brilliant when you get down to the money... the fields are so big they have to lose players quickly. 1000 chips for a $1000 tournie was fine IMO.

Are they going to do anything about the ITIN number fiasco?

While on the subject of the smaller WSOP events, $1000-$2000. Do any sites offer satellites to these events instead of the main event?
