I'm still sulking from yesterday, I need to do something about my self-destruct button.

I played against Roberto at the Apat a few weeks ago and he's clearly a very talented player and hoovers up chips like nobodies business.  The only question is whether he reigns in his aggression if he goes deep.  At apat he made a somewhat rash play on the ft  pushing with KQ UTG and got called by the only player who could bust him (the eventual winner Lee Mulligan) with AK.

He seemed like a nice guy though and maybe he can keep the trophy in Wales!

D'ont panic, they're on the poker ball !.....Jen last night :
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ding Ding!  End of Day...

Meanwhile back on table Romanello he ended the day as he started it, raising non-stop, including under the gun, blind.  Two players on his table have managed to increase their stacks, however:  Ian 'hotdog' Fieldhouse (now on 37k or so) and Mike Tse (now on 42k).

We are going to be long gone by the time the final full counts come out (eta 6am) so I can just promise that they'll be sellotaped to the end of this update (and the beginning of the next one) tomorrow afternoon before start of Day 1B.

Well, I'm here, and thankfully I didn't lock my keys in the car this time, as I did at the Welsh Championships when two giggling mechanics saved my bacon. However, that's probably due to the fact that I took the train, hopped into a taxi straight to the casino which meant I bundled in with everything but the kitchen sink. Spotted Roland De Wolfe and the colourful as ever Peter Gould in the car park. Both were in good spirits and grinning like Cheshire cats.

Also spotted by my eager eyes was Dan (Dan/Dave, which is it?) Owston, a cheery Welsh lad who was similarly brimming with confidence, although, as a local, that may have been alcohol induced.

Breakfast is due Dana for such a great job yesterday, and now we have Snoopy who's already on the case with photos.

Bit round of applause fro the young lass who dealt up a fine job on her debut performance.  ;applause;

Look at these two scallies, Matt 'B4Matt' Tyler and John 'The Rockstar' Conroy, the latter fresh off his highly commendable 3rd place finish in Poland. Well, I say fresh, but he won't have looked particulalry fresh the morning after, especially after celebrating his cash and St Paddy's day by drinking er... EVERYTHING!

According to Matt and Nick, there was a newspaper headline today that said the most shoplifted item in Wales was a leg of lamb (!!). Whilst the Northerners thought it was quite apt for our Welsh friends, John and I thought they were pulling our leg, but apparantly it's true!

Finally, before I pop back out for a selection of early hands (and hopefully mega action), here's a random picture of a Tapir I took a couple of weeks ago at London zoo. I'd never been to a zoo before, so I was like a kid in a candy store, especially when I saw some of these creatures. A tapir?? Never heard of it, I'm sure they make them up sometimes.

WE HAVE ACTION!

;as;

Very early doors, but we already have our first all-in and call, Sid Harris being the assassin.

I joined the action right on the river, the former London EPT finalist, Sid, having made a 4k bet on a board of 3h 9s 8d 7c Kd.

Sid had Pocket Kings, whilst the unfortunate fellow to his left (just a number at the moment until we receive the player list) held the Snowmen, 8c 8s

Player 1003 now down to 2.6k.

Bizarrely, and this is truly odd, Wasim Shaid (sp?) has become the first exit of the day, losing with a set of Eights to a set of Kings. The board reading K-7-8-7-5.

Sat 2 seats down from the newly chipped up Sid Harris, is this man, former Eastender (don't call him Beppe whateveryou do!) and Dusk Till Dawn's Michael Greco. No change in his stack, but he's in the zone by the looks of this photo.

My dream, apart from having MC Hammer making a guest appearance, is for them to play the Eastenders duff duff duffduff over the tannoy when he gets knocked out.

One of the few celebrating (I jest) the first exit of the day is this chap, 'One Hand' Rumit.

Someone else who has yet to play a hand is Mr Matt Tyler, but I'm not surprised when you look at the fearsome line-up on his table:

Bambos
Womble
Mick McCool
Ian Nelson
Adam Stoneman
Neil Channing

This must be small fry for Roland, as by the looks of things, he's as bored as a guest at a tikay dinner party.

Having said that, he has won a pot, betting 600 on a board of 3d 3s Js to rake in a few chips.

Bit blurred this one, my apologies, but I thought it best to capture photographic evidence of Dave 'Dubai' Shallow duing these early stages.

Who'd win a last longer bet out of these two? Tough choice.  ;carlocitrone;

Donna Morris has had a good start to her first level - saw her taking a stroll in the bar area and asked if she was enjoying herself, to which she replied, "Yes, it's easy when you get paid off with quads.  Flush on board, pair, the lot, got called by a straight..."

Roland was in the bar too, but he was just a bit bored.
Mike Lacey and Dewi Cool were in the bar, too, but that's just standard.

Now we have player list, I'll check out the progress of those players mentioned in the first two pages.

For now, check out this hand from the 'Table of Dooooooooooooooooooom.'

I didn't quite catch who raised it up, but somehow 6 players managed to spend 1.2k to see an Aspades Kc 3d Flop.

Lynne Beaumont (Ace King) checked, Michael McCool (Queens) checked, Neil Channing (Tens) checked, Ian Nelson (??) checked, Bambos (??) checked and Womble (Jacks) bet 1,250.

Lynne was the only caller and both players checked the 4c Turn.

River = 9c

Lynne checked, Womble bet 2,500 and Lynne called to take down a nice pot.

However, could it have been bigger, did she miss out on an opportunity and did they play their hands well? What do you think.

Quite an incredible hand really when you consider the hands out there! If this had been Level 10 instead of Level 1, we would have had carnage.

Nick Slade's stack has halved.

He re-raised an opponent pre-flop and bluffed an 8-5-5 Flop, but Mateyboy called. Turn was another rag, but it gave Nick a nut flush draw with his Ace, but his bet was called once again. A 1.8k bet on the rag non-flush-filling River didn't work either, but what was most eyebrow raising was the hand that his opponent revealed - Kings!

"Couldn't believe he had that hand," added Nick.

This is the biggest hand of Level 1, and it belongs to a reluctant photographee, Dewi James, who made it through to Day 2 yesterday.

Firmly clutching onto his early beer, Dewi commented, "I've just come in for the 6 pints today and then I'll be off."

Who said poker players weren't athletes! Mad as a box of monkeys, the lot of em.

Ive only recently woke up after playing in the very amusing cash game until the casino closed last night

Yep the cash game was quality. At one point I could barely read the board I'd had so many Double VRB's! LOL. How I made a nice little profit is still a mystery. :) Was good to have a game with you Pab.

Good luck to Matt Tyler who was very entertaining on the cash game too. Great Banter.

Brill updates as usual and good luck to all Blondes playing today.

As with yesterday's play, they're not dropping like Flemmings, only 1 player exiting the comp thus far.

Meanwhile, Jen has hurtled on down into the cardroom to meet some requests, so hold those breaths.

Another photo run - before we nip off to help with the chip counting - the dealers are on break in 15 mins en masse which means that we're all going to help count the lot.  It works out well for us all in the end...

1) Richard Ade (you'll have to trust me; I stood there for five minutes and he didn't look up once)
2) James Akenhead
3) Mark Yaffe (I think)

Good showing from the Irish this week, Terry Grimley (pictured) joining the likes of Rob Edwards and Mike Lacey in their mini invasion.

In fact, Terry just won a nice pot off Tariq Arees, the latter re-raising the Irishman's 2k Turn bet on a 5h Ahrt 3s 7d board.

Terry called instantly for all his chips and proudly revealed his 2h 4h for flopped straight and a small flush draw to boot. But although he was ahead, the flush draw was useless as Arees held the Kh Jh for the bigger flush draw. However, none of his outs arrived and Terry was left to take the pot, albeit with a clap of the hands and a slight "Yes" exclaim.

He's doubled up again ("Snoopy asking me a really obvious question when he came over - 'Did you take a hit, then?' - seems to have worked some magic and I'm back up").  He does also spend a higher proportion of time standing near his chair rather than in it than most other players.

The chap who ran trip eights into the trip kings of Sid Harris earlier on was in fact Frank Romanello, and he's just been faced with another potentially taxing decision courtesy of Richard Redmond.

With a Flop of 9h Qh Jd, Romanello bet 1.5k only to be re-raised by Redmond to 3.6k.

Two contrasting postures, an uptight Romanello leans forward over the table, desperately tying to work out if he should put his tournament life on the line. Meanwhile, a relaxed laid-back 'I've been here, got the t'shirt' Redmond offers me a rye smile as we wait what seems like a lifetime for a decision.

I wonder around the other tables, return, only to see that nothing has changed. Redmond is looking into the distance, nonchalently fiddling with his i-pod headphones, making no attempt whatsoever to set a poker face. Meanwhile, Romanello is still deep in thought, but that thought finally translates into a good call, although many were surprised it wasn't made quicker, with Ad Qd. Romanello showed Ac Qc, and with a Tc Turn, it was chop chop.

As I pass 'One Hand' Rumit's table, I notice that he is still in, but carrying the same chip count. "You know you don't lose the nickname if you don't play any hands," I inform him, to which he worries me deeply by calling the next hand. Flop comes Kd-Qh-Qd and Rumit calls a 225 bet from Tuan Lee. Tuan then moves all-in for what looked like just several hundred on the raggy Turn, but it was enough to make Rumit fold.

"Look what you made him do, snoops," complained Dubai.

Just spotted Paul King on the rail (although everyone's on the rail because it's the break), but Paul looking considerably more sorrowful than others, and soon confirmed his departure.

"I raised it up pre-flop with Tens and hit top set, but it was an all spade board. I bet because I didn't want a flush to hit and Alan Rutter flat called. Turn came a rag, and I doubled my bet to 2,400. Alan raised and I shoved it in, but he had flopped the flush with Aspades 9s and I failed to hit. It's hard to get away from flopped top set though, even on all suited board."

Odd one now involving Shaf, who looks like he's jumped up to around 18k.

Some heavy pre-flop action which led to Michael Greco folding Queens, but Shaf and Craig Owen saw a Flop of 9h 3h 3s. Craig bet 5k, only for Shaf to move all-in, but the eye-opening thing about this hand is that Craig then mucked his cards, leaving just 2k behind.

Shaf showed Aces. What Craig Owen had, I have no idea.

Bit of action on table Redmond, Ollie Boyce and a 'short sleeved showing of those guns'  Sorel Mizzi.

Flop = Qc 4h 5h

Ollie raised it up, Sorel made it 2,525 and Ollie upped it to 5k.

We've just finished typing up the full chip counts - they just need to be sent to me from the hub of all press activity which is Jon Raab's laptop... actually I am going to lean over and give you a couple of counts while-u-wait:

Pete Singleton    8,175
Shaf                 20,200
Nick Slade           7,875
Michael Greco     14,350
Craig Metcalfe     21,325
Matt Tyler           3,000
Womble             8,875
Neil Channing      13,025

Those were at the break - lots of action has already been mixing it all up.  20k or so is leader status, still, however.

Andrew Amour has passed those chips he won off James Akenhead over to neighbour, Greek Jack.

Board read 5h Qd Qs 7h 9h with Andrew facing a 3k bet. You could tell by his expression that something wasn't right, and he seemed very reluctant to call, but made that "I'll do it quickly so I can't change my mind" type of call, and was justified in his early and instinctive fears with Jack revealing Qh 9c.

Andrew tutted and threw down Qc Jh face-up, clearly fruious with not only himself, but the cruel ways of the poker gods.

R. Abbassi, with whom I was having a breaktime chat, is on just over 2,000 - and that's after having been all-in and survived.  He pushed preflop with what turned out to be Ad 8d - I heard Shaf saying, "I'll gamble" so I turned to watch his table.  Shaf gambled with 6c 8c, as it turned out, to none of our collective surprise.
Anyway - Flop:  5s 5h 5c
Turn:  9d
River:  8h

And although the dealer was already gently pushing the chips towards Abbassi, Shaf was there to set everything straight...

Ramanzanali Abbassi has doubled up. All the chips going in on a Jd 7c 8d Flop, Abassi flopping the nuts with Th 9c and being paid off by Shaf's Ac Aspades.

"I was gambling," he says, perhaps defending a pre-flop call.

Flop = Aspades Qh Jc

Ryan Mitchel bets 900 only for Richard Simmonds (pictured) to move all-in for a massive seven or eight k.

Ryan gives it the ol 'I have a hand, but I'm still going to fold because that bet's too expensive' kinda routine, before indeed release A-J face-up.

Eager to see his opponent's hand and find out that he made a 'super fold', which is obviously why he showed his cards, his wishes are met when Simmonds reveals A-Q.

These were the full counts from the end of the last break - a lot has altered the top spots since then, I will try to add a note if someone's now a chip monster, or out, but thought they might be good to have even if it took a lot of time to get them and write them up (rules are rules; we weren't allowed to help with the count and Jon has been running around like crazy)

As I meander on over to the back end of the cardroom and over towards the wheel of death, Nick Slade who seems to spend more time standing than seated, grabs me and says, "You wanna hear an incredible hand" to which I inevitably reply, being the roving reporter (I hope) that I am, "Yep, go for it."

And with a huff and a puff (it's at this point I know he lost the pot), Nick begins, "5 limpers, I called from the button with 9-J and the flop came 9s-4s-7. Tony Mackay bet 1.4k and I called. He then checked the King Turn, I bet 1,900 and he called again. River came the 6 of diamonds and he moved all-in for 2.4k, which I called because the pot was so big. To my shock, he turned over 7-6o, which means he called for almost half his stack on the turn with third pair. He said he was 'gambling' when questioned, but, and you can tell praz on blonde this, if that's the standard of play from his lads, then he should be ashamed."

The last comment was tongue in cheek. "Praz will find it funny," he added.

Paul Parker is here, tucked, unfortunately, into a murky corner of the separate cash game area over by the bar.  He's got Liam Flood on his left, and shares his table with Emma Strutt, Ashley Hayles and Ben Vinson among others.

Behind him is the only available cash table (and the scene of last night's drunken hold'em starring VodkaRedBull, Pab and M3 etc.) which is currently stocked with recognisable players, busted ones from yesterday (and today e.g. Bambos) and lurkers that find themselves with a day off in Cardiff and are just irresistably drawn back to the Casino like little moths to a halogen bulb.

Who recognises the player on phone-distracted Channing's right?  I didn't on first wander - had to hear his unique voice to be able to place Mick McCool, in disguise as cross-country skier.  He had a very healthy 26,500 at last check.

that pics funny lol

thats why they called him the kid then lol

hows he doing snoops

You won't be surprised that he's not chip leader, but you may be disappointed that he's only gor 2,325.

I just saw him pass to a check-raise (Mickey bet 1.1k initially) on a 2s 8c 3d Flop, Gary Chatterton the man causing the veteran a headache.

We're on Level 4 at the moment with the blinds at 100/200. There are 144 players with the average stack of 11,400.

We have been informed that the buffet will be available at the end of this level, which really perked young Jennifer up.

Roland De Wolfe has doubled up, betting Aces pre-flop and receiving two callers, before betting 1.5k on the 8h 6h 2c Flop (1 caller) and then 2.5k on the Ks Turn (1 caller again).

Td River and Mateyboy sticks in 4k, to which Roland responds by moving all-in for 4,125.

So 125 more for the guy to call, and somehow, he manages to pass.

Discussion here in the pressroom suggests that he can't possibly pass, even if he has 9 high due to the information that can be required and the potential for human error.

Funny fold though.

Blackpool regular (I think), Gareth 'The Nugget' Jones, is OUT.

Flop = 8d 4d 6h

9k pot

Saeed Saghtchi had his best poker face on following a 6,425 all-in, which must have worked as Gareth offered his hand and said good luck before pushing in his remaining 5 (approx) thousand chips.

Saeed showed Queens, to which Gareth replied, "Nice hand", subsequently revealing his troubled Nines.

No help and Gareth was out, although he was a gentleman in defeat.

Lalit Khajuria -- 29,5k
And Miles -- 28.5k
Sid Harris -- 26.5k
Craig Metcalfe (I hope) -- 22.5k
Brendan Duffy -- 22.5k
Roy Brindley -- 21k

Triple up for Paul M3Boy Garnham... (this isn't as exciting as it sounds as he only started with 1,875) - tip off from James Atkin who shares their table:

Early position limp from D. Sami, later postion Paul moves in, then another slightly less short stack called.  Totally committed, when Sami revealed his hand's true strength with the good old limp-re-raise, it was too late for either stack to get away.  On their backs:
Sami:  Ahrt Aspades
M3Boy:  Ad Kd
Other One:  Ac 9c

Flop:  Qd 4d ("Oh no," says Sami) Jd
Turn:  Jh
River:  9h

So Paul can breathe again, while the Aces take the side pot.

Table Brindley had a confrontation between Royce Law and Vicky Coren just now - threeway to the flop of 2s 2d Kh.  Royce comes out betting for 1,000, and Vicky raises to 3k.  Roy the Boy has a little dwell himself before passing and then it's back to the bettor.  He thinks for a decent while before moving in, a further 4,425 back to Vicky.  She had only 8,500 left at this time, and a call is over half her stack.  Eventually she decides to let it go - I wonder, a genuine decision, or hand in the cookie jar moment?

A couple more counts:

Michael Greco      15,000
Shaf                    4,600  (still totally unrepentant about his TV table verbal onslaught at the last one; caught neighbour Greco wincing)
Richard Redmond   13,800
Neil Channing        12,150
Womble                8,350
Mick McCool          20,400
Liam Flood             7,125
Donna Morris          9,100
Roland De Wolfe    22,500
James Atkin           17,800

And now is the time for the buffet, after what Snoopy describes as the "free-for-all" may have subsided.

Several minutes before we hit the felt again. In the meantime, I've been busy scurrying away in the cardroom scouring for stories, one of which comes from DTD's Dave Colclough, who somehow turned a usually sturdy rock into a loosey gooesey er... goose.

When requesting a scoop, Dave responded, "Shall I tell you about how I got up to 23k?" I nodded. "I raised it up with 6h 5h and Ryan Fronda called with Th 2h. Flop came Ac Kh 4h, I checked, he bet and I called. Turn was 6c, I checked, he bet 2k and I moved all-in for around 8.5k. Ryan folded, which was a good job for him, because he only had three outs."

Dave continued, "He commented, 'you've got Ace King' when he passed his T-2 and also added, 'I played to take you off the pot'."

Hmm, that didn't quite work out.

Another story comes from Darshan 'Magic' Sami, who says he had his busted Aces.

"I limped under the gun for 200, one fella moved all-in for 3.5k and then another pushed behind him."

"Did you call?" I asked jokingly.

"Cause I called," replied an unaware Sami. "One had A-K of diamonds, the other A-9 of spade. Flop came three diamonds, and I'm down to 8k now because of that. What's amazing is that the guy with A-9 was the second player to move in!"

Also came across the pairing of Dave Penley and JP Kelly hanging around the bar. JP's here to booze and leer at the ladies, but Dave's playing, doing okay with 13.5k. Not too much in the way of hands (just a pair of queens), but he's winning the prop bet with Roland. Apparently they agreed to pick a card (Dave - 8, Roland - 2) and play £20 a point everytime one hits the flop. If two hit the flop, they get 3 points and if three hit the flop they get 5 points. Sound fun? Well, not to Roland who tore up the scoresheet when he went 6-0 down and announced that he wasn't playing anymore. He didn't cry though.

One for fellow Anal Mob member, Craig 'I KNOW IT' Wildman.

Gynn Rees is on 20k. His biggest hand was Tens, calling a pre-flop raise and calling bets on every street of a 9 high Flop. Mateyboy had T-9.

Meanwhile, Rumit was up to 17k at one point but dropped back down to 9k, mainly due to an accident with A-K, raising it up pre-flop but running into a flopped flush (A-8s) on a King high all suited Flop.

Dan Samson is out - after returning post dinner break to valiantly play his 50 remaining chips all in blind under the gun.  He found an early position raiser, and a mid position caller too.  The flop was Queen-high but otherwise uneventful, but a 2k bet into the side pot saw the preflop caller move calmly in for 5k more.  A long think, then pass.  So Dan only had to beat Aspades Ad with his Th Jh.  Plus he's lost his mobile phone; just not his day.

Now that we have the luxury of player tags, let's put a few names to unfamiliar faces. I'm not sure if these chaps are locas, but either way, if you recognise them, feel free to interrupt and let us know a little more about them.

(1) Gavin Priestly -- 4,450
(2) Stuart Menzies -- 18,300
(3) Ishmal Mohammad -- 10,075
(4) Nick Goodall -- 21,800

Big pot time, folks, as the hotly touted Elliot Bowker scoops in a monster with Aces vs. Queens vs. Kings.

Paul Vicary managed to fold his Queens, but there wasn't much Ashley Hayles could do, his Kings finding no help and sending him packing.

Oliver Boyce is OUT -

I saw a flop being dealt between him (on the big blind) and Michael Greco (on the button; preflop raiser; in the middle of featured photo).  3s 3d Qc it came.  Check, check.
Turn:  Kd  Oliver bet out 1,100, and Michael min-raised him.  A pretty quick re-raise to 4k and before you know it he'd called a re-re-raise all in from the DTD player.

Michael Greco:  8d 3c
Oliver Boyce:  Ks Qh  - had successfully caught up enough to Greco's flopped trips to put the whole lot in.

No sign of Stephen Holden (although I'll need to double check this in case he nipped to the loo), but I did manage to find this cheeky chappy. When I told him Liz requested a photo, he said, "Which girlfriend again?" Okay, I made that bit up.

Meanwhile Mickey Wernick doubles from a micro to a mini-stack:  2,000 chips currently.

He's doing better than Rick 'The Claimer' Trigg, who just slowplayed Kings and got a certain Dave Colclough interested in his suited connected low club hand (sorry, can't be specific).  Two clubs on a flop and DC check-raised Rick all-in - he went for it but his chance to double disappeared with the appearance of a third board club.

Mickey's newly acquired chip has gone - K-T vs. K-K.  It looked like he was heading for a double double when the flop came 9-J-Q, but the Kings flushed by the river and the field is consuming itself much more quickly in this level than we expected from the slow start.

Stuart Menzies the assassin.

Iwan Jones is OUT in surprising circumstances, getting it in with worst hand for once.

I joined the hand on the River with the board reading 2c Qd Jc Kc Jh and 6k in the pot.

Irish terror Terry Grimley checked, Welsh wizard Iwan Jones bet 3k and Terry moved in for a massive 25k, although Iwan only had 10k behind.

Clearly perplexed by this, the usually stationary Iwan was rather fidgety, and almost pleaded for a clue of somesort, actually saying "speak to me" at one point. Terry, unusually for him, was suspiciously reserved, head bowed down and keeping himself to himself. Meanwhile, Iwan was still dwelling it up, clearly pained by a tricky decision.

After a while he called, only for Terry to swiflty announce full house and reveal his Q-J.

A rocked Iwan said nice hand, shook his head in temporary shock and started to get his gear together.

Later rumours suggest he had the nut flush, although I actually can't see him calling with anything less than a full house.

I think he almost folded, he took quite a while to decide. From my experience, Iwan's reads are normally spot on, but not this time - must have seen the overbet as a sign of weakness.

Richard Redmond sees a flop from the big blind with Sid Harris and Shaf.  It's Ad Td 9c - I think Richard checked, Sid bet and got them both calling.  The interesting part was the turn, however, when the 4s seemed to get everyone excited - Richard check-raised Sid's bet on the turn a hefty 8k or so, and while Shaf got out of the way he got a call from Sid (I think it's quite hard to get rid of Mr. Harris).  I am sure the 2d river was a big relief to Richard, who bet 10k quickly, with his 7d 4d.
Sid called without a pause for breath with Aspades 9h, but his two pair was good no longer and he's now contributed generously to the BadBeat player's 45k+ stack.

I just saw him win a pretty chunky pot that shot him up to just under 50k as one of the chip leaders, somehow getting his opponent to call with Pocket Fours on a 2c 7s Th 8s board. Miles had Qs Ts and hit another Queen on the River, but that's someone lucy goosey reputation he's got if people are calling with fourth pair.

Glynn Rees is OUT.

I caught him standing up and legged it over, but I was too late to gather much info. Sid Harris was stacking the chips and had As Ts vs. Glynns 8-9. I did notice that there were two nines on the board and three spades, but didn't catch the order.

A quick glance at Table Parker and it becomes clear that we're missing 2 familiar faces in Rumit and Dubai. A quick (is it ever quick?) chat with Paul Parker informs me that Dubai fell to his next door neighbour in what was an intriguing pot. Dubai raised it up pre-flop, only for his opponent to minimum raise by error when he meant to call. The dealer didn't notice and play continued with Dave asking his neighbour if he did indeed mean to raise. The player confessed that he meant to call and Dubai grabbed the attention of the dealer. One other caller was allowed to take his call back, but the initial minimum raise had to stand. When it got back round to Dubai, he moved all-in with A-J, but was still called by Sevens, the chap possibly thinking Dubai was making a move and pouncing on the confession of not intending to re-raise. Anyhow, the sevens stood up and Dubai was left looking for the exit.

Now sitting in his seat is David Pomroy. They're certainly not tag-teaming though, as Jen suggests.

Paul Parker, who is becoming extremely useful these days, also informed me of how Rumit departed.

"He was a bit unlucky really. Mrs Bambos stuck in 6k pre-flop and Rumit made a good call with A-Q vs. K-Q. Unfortunately, Mrs Bambos made a flush and knocked him out."

For anyone who knows Paul, that was the shorter version, and to prove it, an entire hand played out during that description in which Mrs Bambos was actually eliminated herself, running A-T into A-K, Kuljinder Sidhu placing the blow with a 6-J-3-9-5 Board.

ok my last post was half answered while I typed the question (quick by even blonde standards). Hows about a womble chipcount

It's closer to 7,350 now - here's a picture, though, of him napping using the tried-and-tested head-prop (as opposed to the Willie Tann nod or the ever popular elbow-lean).

A few of those requests for you now, the first of which concerns Pete Singleton, who was seen rising from his seat as soon as I returned to the cardroom. His sniper was Michael Greco, who put Pete all-in on a board of 6s 8c 6h 5h. Pete called for his last 2.5-3k with Jc 8s but found himself up against 9s 7h. Duff Duff Duff. Kc River was academic.

Paul Garnham is back down to 3,375 after being outdrawn by someone Paul described as a "tilter".

Apparently, the titler limped under-the gun, and then pushed all-in when Paul raised it up with A-K.

Paul called instantly, realising that his opponent was steaming, and found himself up against 9-6.

But 9 on the Flop and 9 on the River dealt a crushing blow to Paul who has struggled all day.

Ben Vinson, who I believe someone mentioned earlier, is running well with around the 30k mark. Seems like quite a threat at the poker table this lad, his last scoop being after a 3.1k bet on a 5d 4d Ks Flop.

I'm afraid Herron the younger has departed, and in rather eye watering cirumstances too - which, unsurprisingly in these 'kick in the testicles' situations, involved those darn Aces getting bust.

All-in versus the Pocket Queens of James Martin, the first four cards came 9-T-J-Q. Ouch.

Craig Metcalfe has been located, although he doesn't quite have the 40k you suggest, but he's not far off, chugging away nicely with around 37k.

He recognised the name too. If the good luck message spurs him on to victory, then be sure to grab a percentage.

This is Stephen Slavin - pointed out to us by his friend on the rail who's just kind of hanging out watching what's going on, and asked that, "What exactly are you guys doing?" question.  Like the Terminator, I always run through a couple of potential answers ("I am taking pretend drink orders," "I am perfecting a bot by means of studying the moves of the nation's best") before pointing people in the direction of blonde...hello if you've made it online...

Anyway, Stephen's qualified for three of these on BlueSquare already, apparently, and was comfortably around 30k at the time of shooting.

Charmaine, erase those sad faces pronto because mi laddo has just doubled those chips up again.  ;sark;

First he went in blind from early position to take the blinds, and then was allowed to see a cheap (well, free in fact) Flop and Turn from the small blind with 6c 8c and a board 7c Ts 2h 9c. M3boy pushed and found a caller. Academic River.

Now on 9,800.

John 'The Rockstar' Conroy was, it seems, having a bit of trouble getting into this tournament (in the sense of feeling involved while it was in the slow period) after the dizzy heights of third in the Warsaw WPT last week.  But he has more chips than in the picture (about 15,800 currently) despite playing "lots of pots early  because suddenly I think I can play properly."  Self-deprecatingly continually referring to himself as a tedious ladderer, I wouldn't be surprised to find him on another final table, having lulled the opposition into a false sense of security.

Izabel Durr, is OUT.

As I joined the play, Izabel was standing up, clearly forseeing defeat, with A-J in front of her.

Not bad with a Flop of J-8-8 on the board.

However, with the K Turn, the 7 River and opponent Stuart Menzies holding 8-4, it's not looking peachy, and the disappointed Bad Beat player was sent on her way.

A quick look at the button highlights that it is nowhere near Menzies. A swift glance back at Stuart sees him mouth the words 'don't ask'. Peering down and chatting briefly with Paul Garnham, now on 11.5k incidentally, informs me that it was a cheeky pre-flop raise that hit a loverly jubberly Flop.

Dusk Till Dawn update for you now.

Just the two started, but they're both still in, Michael Greco doing particulalry well with around the 35-40k mark.

Dave Colclough, meanwhile, is a slightlier less formidable presence, but still a potential threat with 15,200.

Opposite Dave is a certain EPT London victor in Vicky Coren, who is a similar menace in this event with 27k.

I was speaking to Roy 'The Boy' Brindley during the break, and it was interested listening to him speak about how he finds these comps a grind. Basically he was saying that he'd much rather stick a few thousand in on an online table rather than play a live tournament. "A few days of hard slogging, only to go out to a probable beat. Not really my cup of tea." "But don't you enjoy it," I asked. "Not really, I get bored easily" was the short reply.

Missing presumed lost:

Ganesh Rao
Neil Channing
Alan McLean

Phil of awop was saying Neil looked like Brian Connelly. After 5 minutes of confusion, I suddenly realised (well, when Phil said 'It's a puuuuuuuuuuuppet!) that I was mixing Brian Connelly up with Billy Connelly. He said, "Look at the mouth and the accent" to which I replied, "But he's not Scottish". It was also very bizarre.

Even so, he doesn't look like either.  :dontask:

Probable chip leader contention for Vicky Coren - a full double through of her just-under-30k stack with KK vs. QQ, and then she has begun, according to tablemate Dave Colclough (hovering on 20k) to dominate the table.  She's knocked two shorter stacks out in the last 15 minutes alone, one of them being John 'Rockstar' Conroy.  DC says he's been "mesmerised" while Vicky looks like she's enjoying bully status.  And enjoying the Paul Parker approach to tournament play, with glass of wine in hand.

Some scoopylicous reports now from your roving 15 minute break time reporter, Snoopy Kent (Super Snoopy when someone is in danger).

(http://www.chrisreevehomepage.com/images/superman/i-ck.jpg)

Paul 'M3boy' Garnham is on 8k and is disappointed to have moved table, because that means he's no longer seated next to EPT Dortmund finalist, Cristiano Blanco, who Paul described as his 'meal ticket'. "I kept re-raising him because he was raising a lot and he continually folded Ace-rag hands because I'd shown so many strong hands, so he was keeping me going really."

According to Steve Jelinek, he's on 30k after getting pissed off and playing crap poker. "I was really stuggling and just got frustrated, first check-raising with 7-3 of hearts on a Q-6-2 all diamond flop (that could have been embarrassing), and then calling a pre-flop raiser with 8-6 of hearts and then re-raising his 4.5k bet all-in on the 8-J-Q Flop. Both times they folded, but it was rubbish play by me really. I should get pissed off more often, it seems to work."

When I asked Dusk Till Dawn's Dave Colclough for a scoop, he answered, "I haven't done anything as usual." Great scoop Dave! In all fairness though, he did go on to tell me that earlier on he won a nice pot with Tens v Deuces all-in pre-flop, but then finished with a gloomy "It's the only hand I've had in the last 2 hours."

First up is Table Mackay, which just saw a massive pot go Steve Jelinek's way after an inexplicable call from Steve Craig.

Jelinek raised it up from the button to 2,400 with Queens, Craig made it 6,400 from the big blind, Jelinek pushed all-in for an extra 22,500 and Craig called, shockingly turning over Kh Qh (!!)

Board = Ac 5d Jd 4s 9c

... and although he was fully expecting a Ten to hit the River, he dodged that potentially gut-wrenching bullet to see all the chips flie his way, but everyone, especially Jelinek and Mackay (pictured in depsair) were flabbergasted by the call.

Lynne Beaumont raises it up pre-flop to 4k from second position, Kevin O'Leary adds another 15,400 and Lynne folds, leaving herself with 12k.

Andy Miles bets 16k into a board of 5c 6s Kh Td. Nick Goodall passes.

Vicky's stack takes a little dent, courtesy of Eliott Bowker, a short stack raising to 2,775 under the gun.  With only 9k behind, big blind Vicky thinks for a minute and puts him all in - call.
Eliott:  Ad Ts
Vicky:  Jc Tc
The board comes Th 5d 5s Ac 8d and she hands him a double up, remarking with wry surprise, "I lost one?"

Another brave (or silly depending on your viewpoint), this time from Dave Smith.

Flop = Td Qd 8s

Dave bets 4k, Stephen Slavin moves all-in (as pictured) for around 30k and Dave calls for his remaining 16k saying, "I can't pass".

Dave = Aspades Jd
Stephen = Ac Kd

Turn = Ks

River = 3d

As the Turn hits, Slavin looks disgusted and can't help but mutter his detest for Dave's call. "How could he call that?" he says shocked.

Dave doubles up and Slavin is left with 14k.

James Atkin has been playing with unexpected steadiness (and is threatening to make Day Two), but just lost a bit, doubling Steve Craig up in the process.  He raised in early-mid position and found Steve pushing in on the cutoff for a further 7,400.  He eventually made the call, with his rather dodgy-looking Jh 9h, but Steve had 6c 6s so at least he had two overs...
Flop:  Qh Qd 4h  (Steve, presumably, draws breath and holds it)
Turn:  8s
River:  Ac

So down to 23,600 for James, up to 20k for Steve.

James counts out the chips with the face-saving, "Why is it always the worst hand you raise with that gets seen?"

In the final two minutes of the day's play, I spot Dave Colclough with all his chips neatly stacked over the line, patiently waiting for Pete Haslam to make a decision.  From the positions of the chips, I deduce that Dave raised preflop, Pete made it another 10k to go on the button, and DC moved in for 27,700.  The ebbing seconds of Day1B tick away, and Pete passes, meaning that El Blondie will finish the day with a tidy 42,000 chips.

Bit zapped here, so I'll leave you with the fork jobby and post the chip counts as soon as I can. Not sure when that'll be, but they'll definitely be on the site before the start of Day 2.

Toodle pip, peeps.
