Title: poker training sites Post by: Table Manners on March 23, 2007, 10:31:08 AM I've recently thought about investing some money into becoming a member of a reputable poker training site run by pros. Is anyone here a member of one of these? Is it useful?
Also, are we allowed to mention the names of other websites in the forum? If not that my stifle this discussion somewhat. Although PXF has a cash game pro (Rizen), if you mostly play cash then you are better off trying Cardrunners, who have instructors such as Green Plastic and SBrugby. Both these sites have free content you can look at to see if you like what they offer. One other site to be aware of is pokermentors who offer one off classes on various topics - i took a cash game class for $55 (it lasted about 5hrs) and it has definitely paid for itself.
Title: Re: poker training sites Post by: totalise on March 23, 2007, 07:58:21 PM cardrunners is a great site.. it costs about $250 for signup and 6 months subscription, and it is without doubt worth every cent.. they have LucLongley/SBRugby/GreenPlastic doing videos and these are three of the best cash game players on the planet, and they are very free and analytical in their videos. They also have Action Jeff who is one of the greatest poker minds out there, but he doesn't go as deep as I wish he would.. and there is an empiremaker video for comedic value. Muddywaters videos are a load of gash so ignore them, and concentrate on the big three, its all archived so fill your boots.
Absolute bargain. Im sorry to hear that, you'll find someone who does one day! Title: Re: poker training sites Post by: Graham C on March 24, 2007, 12:23:09 AM I'd quite like to have a good look at these but the sign up fee's put me off. I appreciate why they do it, I could just pay for a month and download everything, but it does put me off. If I didn't get on with it or spend time learning it's just money down the drain. I seem to be spending bits all the time here and there on learning pokers stuff - i have loads of books I need to plough through.
Title: Re: poker training sites Post by: Ironside on March 24, 2007, 02:38:21 AM i cant understand these high cost 1 on 1 sites if the players were that good would they not be making much more money on the tables
Title: Re: poker training sites Post by: totalise on March 24, 2007, 05:06:25 AM i cant understand these high cost 1 on 1 sites if the players were that good would they not be making much more money on the tables probably, but its the age old, and very interesting question of how much of a reduction in your hourly rate would you take if it lowered (eliminated) the variance. i've heard some absolutely rediculous figures pandied around for the better players, and if hypothetically they are earning $1,500/hour with $50k/hour fluctuations, would you rather just sit for an hour, talk about poker, and get paid $1000 with zero variance/stress/worry and anything else that comes from playing infinite tables? Title: Re: poker training sites Post by: RichEO on March 24, 2007, 05:41:25 AM I heard DTD give their traders advice. Maybe ask them how much advice you would get if you have the hours to put in that is.
Title: Re: poker training sites Post by: Graham C on March 24, 2007, 08:49:32 AM On DTD you need to play 80 table hours per week to be considered for the trader scheme. I don't even think I could do that a fortnight. Top advise I expect though for those that are traders, can't argue with the team they have on board there.
