Anything by Robert Ludlum obviously. Eric Van Lustbader's "jian" is a classic I reckon. Title: Re: Any book recomendations ? Post by: vegaslover on March 23, 2007, 11:13:10 AM What genre do u like?

Title: Re: Any book recomendations ? Post by: lazaroonie on March 23, 2007, 11:33:24 AM i have recently got into a new series of detective novels by Peter James. He is probably better known for writing horror stories, but this is more of a standard police detective novel, with some genuinely frightening scenes/undertones.
there are only two books in the series at the moment first one is called Dead Simple, and without giving the plot away starts with a guy being buried in a coffin as part of a stag night prank by four of his mates, who then are involved in a fatal accident as they drive away. Looking Good Dead is the second one, which I actually read first.... Title: Re: Any book recomendations ? Title: Re: Any book recomendations ? Post by: Muahahahaha on March 23, 2007, 01:36:39 PM I like science fiction, fantasy, horror or something humorous. Terry Pratchett covers fantasy & humour. They don't all work, but you can normally get 3 for 2 or something similar. But if you still get the odd poker itch, - Aces & Kings. THE best pick up & put down poker book EVER. Title: Re: Any book recomendations ? Post by: Snatiramas on March 23, 2007, 01:41:52 PM Papillon - Henri Charriere

Iain Banks: Walking on Glass, Complicity, maybe even the Wasp Factory 'The Coma' by Alex Garland. Better than 'The Beach' Non-fiction: if you like this kind of thing: Cosmology by Edward Harrison The Man who mistook his wife for a hat, Oliver Sachs The Selfish Gene, Richard Dawkins. only if you like that kind of thing. Best nonfiction I ever read though. Humour: All the noncartoon Scott Adams stuff is hilarious and brilliant. Title: Re: Any book recomendations ? Post by: Sark79 on March 23, 2007, 07:11:37 PM the diceman by Luke Rhinehart :)up That is an odd book, I remember reading it after a friend kept telling me about it a few years ago I hardly ever read fiction books, but both Papillon and the Odessa file were great reads . If you are after an excellent sport book, It's Not About The Bike by Lance Armstrong is possibly the best biography ever written. I have read it about five times and it got me an A for an English paper at Uni as well :D . Great book Title: Re: Any book recomendations ? Post by: yellowmagic on March 24, 2007, 03:54:38 PM I leave the heavyweight stuff out of the suitcase when on holiday - try something by Michael Crichton or J G Ballard.
For humour you can dip into, there's Screen Burn by Charlie Brooker, and for the plane journey try Alain De Botton's The Art of Travel.
