Title: Holidays
Post by: Poppet7 on April 17, 2007, 03:32:05 PM
Can anyone recommend a cheap and cheerful holiday to me? I'm looking for somewhere warm, quite lively, possibly a resort that has water/theme parks and a nearby beach

Bulgaria's pretty good & VERY cheap for drink & food  but you'd want 4 star (3star is pretty crap) and I don't know if there's a waterpark.

I'm just looking for somewhere different cos I always end up going back to the same places.

Turkey is pretty cheap at the moment.

the cheapest deals are on teletext holidays website thru a company called holidaymate.

When I say cheap I mean between £200-£400 per person, abroad. I am aware I can pick my own holidays from vaious operators/websites but I am looking for recommendations, places that people have been to and have liked...

Sunny Beach in Bulgaria . Cheap good food and drink, nice beach. Take a bus trip to Varna & shopping's very cheap as well.

Important phrases:

Dua golliama biera mollia - 2 large beers please

Blagodaria - Thank you.

Lindos is great - spend the day on the beach while all the bus tours are in town. Head back from beach via pub, go out to eat/drink really well and cheap when the bus tours are gone & it's a nice wee town again.

Not cheap unless you're a local - frigging expensive for the tourists. Great though.

Charmaine, I can recommend you and your daughter going to Tsilivi in Zante, I went there last July and it was perfect, not too lively, not too quiet, the hotel was right on the beach and the weather was gorgeous. I stayed in the Zante Maris Hotel, I'd go back but want to go somewhere different, there isn't much point going to the same place over and over.

Don't know if it's still as cheap as it was, but I went to Rovinj in Croatia a few years back on an 'accommodation on arrival' deal with Thompson.  Cost about £200 per person for two weeks half board.  Very beautiful place and would highly recommend it - only 90 minutes to Venice by ferry as well if you fancy a day trip.

Had a think about it, decided not to go on holiday until I go to Florida for my 21st birthday in March 2008, plenty of time to pay off my car and save. Unless I have the luck I've had this week then I could pay with all my blackjack/bingo winnings!

Praia De Rocha mate - the Club Praia De Rocha Aparthotel is top notch.

I went in November and loved it excellent beach, plenty of pubs and clubs granted many where closed as it was out of season but definately a place for a family.  There is also a casino in the resort.

I am going to try and get back there in september.

Depends where in Zante you are going, I went to Tsilivi, but if you're going somewhere else ask Sunday8pm, he knows Zante better than I do. It's a great place, I'd def recommend it.

Go to any high street tour operator and ask about Narnia.
