I think a pool may be in order. All money into central pokerstars(money easily transfered on stars) account for an agreed ammount winner takes all. I have to go out but I have been in said pools before and will post details tonight for points etc. Anybody interested for say $20 a peice post your name below and I will post details later.

I've gone for
1; Rumit and Dave (though Burnley John was very tempting)
2; Pascal, Tony G
3; Peter Costa and Rod Yong (10/1 what an insult)
4; Julian and John Kabbaj (odds were a slight factor there)
5; Willie Tann, Stuart Nash
6; Lawrence Gosney, Brian Wilson
7; Surinder Sunar, Tony Bloom

a sweep stake would be an excellent idea.
If it's $20 can we orgamise it not winner takes all.

Right very tough i think...

1st Burney John 2nd EL Blonde

1st Pascal Perrault 2nd Simon Nowab

1st Ian Bradley 2nd Bad Girl

1st Julian Thew 2nd Iwan Jones

1st Peter Gunnarrson 2nd Willie Tann

1st Christer Johansson 2nd Lawerence Gosney

1st Tony  Bloom 2nd Surinder Sunar

to be honest tho i think the heats are so strong that anyone can win! Not one "Easy" heat really, and anyone can win there tables.

Good luck!

virtually impossible, some great tables

my choices (two per heat in some cases)

helppi

Don O'Dea, Nowab

Shipley

Black

Nash

Johannson and Cooper

Ben Roberts, Surinder

Actually, Ian and Rob...I think your heat is one of the easier ones....no pressure!!!

oh, I'd be delighted for you if I'm wrong about heat 3 Ian.

I've tried in most cases to pick a genuine front runner and an outsider with good odds. 10s on Rob was irresistable

If 425 is William Hill TV, why are they not showing it live, or at least as live?

You say it is one of the easier ones yet we have Serial winners on here lol, from across the pond!

The magician even tho everyone does'nt like him has GAME i think! John Shipley wsop final tables as has peter costa and are winners for a decade... Bad girl excellent tourney player, and would've pefered her off my table! BAMBOS, now he is great i think! When i first started watching poker he was one of my "heroes" i used to come in drunk on a fri...ahhhhhhh the life of a student! Bambos was brilliant on there, I remeber him constantly putting the pressure on his opponnents and one of the programs he pulled off a massive bluff... I was just shocked into silence thinking what a game what a player! I soon wanted to learn to play.

Liam Flood his rep procedes him, Then there's me and Rob(i do think robs price is exagerrated)... to be honest not won anything and i myself am just proud to have my name on that list! But as i said the night before the sat i am going to win it... Well, I am going to WIN IT! Its DECIDED!

I think heat 3 is just as tough as heat 4.

They're all blinders though, I think we're all agreed on that

Title: Re: your picks for the William Hill Grand Prix
Post by: AndrewT on October 07, 2005, 03:14:07 PM
OK, here are mine.

1 - 1st Juha, 2nd El Blondie

2 - 1st Me, 2nd Who cares?

3 - 1st Peter, 2nd At-it

4 - 1st Andy Black, 2nd Julian

5 - Lots of unknowns to me here. Lets say 1st Stuart, 2nd one of the internet qualifiers, Carmy maybe.

6 - 1st Jani, 2nd Christer

7 - 1st Tony, 2nd Surindar

Seriously, though, my heat is really tough - lots of dangerous players. When I told one of my mates who was in with me, he said 'You're the only name there I don't recognise...'  :)

I tried to do the same, I think everyone will have a different name for the winners of the heats it depends on who they have played or seen etc... If i was'nt me i would'nt pick me for my heat! "who am I ????" There is so many more you could choose!

I actually think Iwan Jones is the standout bet in the whole market! A very very good player!

Estafandri on your table 'at it'. Likes to put the 'at it' players all in if he detects any weakness in pre flop raises/steals. He will do it with almost any two cards. This info maybe entirely useless but there you go.

I'll have a win bet on the final but I just don't see how you could pick a winner now. it's at least a 35 horse race, if not more

Title: Re: your picks for the William Hill Grand Prix

I think picking some of the outsiders might be worthwhile before the final... i agree its anyones to win!

i think it's a great comp with a great structure & i'm thrilled to be in a 'name' heavy one.
i've played with all the guys in my heat except the internet guy -he could be the most dangerous!
i'd better do some homework & get my thinking cap on...

Love the look of this heat, so many movers and shakers on one table .... this could all be over very quickly and I think its definately going to come down to who has the biggest Kahunas on the day .

Why can't Poker 425 show this live?

It's a 40 minute clock, increasing to 45 for the Final I think, so each heat will last a very long time, far too long to be televised live, sadly. The penalty of a decent clock is that it makes it well nigh impossible to show live. But Presentable TV - - who made Late Night Poker - are making a full-scale production of it, & it will be shown in the New Year I believe.

On a side note, I have a "voice-test" on Tuesday for the co-commentator's role. The lead commentator will be the main man himself, Jesse May, & he's coming to the 425 Studio on Tuesday to do the "test" with me. I am not at all hopeful, they have 4 "proper" names in the frame already, only one is needed, & I fear that my style of "natural" talking won't work at all well alongside the great Jesse, but doing the test in itself is a thrill for me, & I'll consider that in itself as another bonus, in what has been a simply unbelievable year for me.

Who's gonna win the comp? Sheesh, no idea. I doubt if there has EVER been such a great field assembled for a TV Tourney. But seeing the hole cards of the Thewy's & At-It's will make it something special in itself, eh? That Thewy pays any rubbish, you know. We played a little private SNG on Wednesday night in Baden, Iwan Jones, Thewy, Rolf Woods, Jen, me, Conrad from 'Stars, etc. I caught Thewy at it a treat, I had 99, & he tried to move me off it, he had NO CHANCE. His KK outdrew me though.

so if its not on til next year how about live updates?

Title: Re: your picks for the William Hill Grand Prix
Post by: tikay on October 08, 2005, 02:06:27 PM

Nope, no Live Updates. They wanna try & keep the result secret, so as to enhance the enjoyment of the TV Show when it's aired. And it's a Contractual Obligation for the players that they do NOT publicise the result, until the show is seen. That's a tall order, but sorry, no Live Update.

But watch out for news of  a surprise Live Update on Monday night, you gonnna LOVE it.

We are going to get the results obviously so I can pay the winner his money from the pool I hope, otherwise there is no point.

Im in Vegas w/ Mr. Ed Giddins on a "Hill tuneup " trip, I am very impressed by the field and I think it will be a great event. The "rookie" feels very lucky to be included in a field so strong. This will be a great TV show, I hope I dont get knocked out on the 1st hand when I push allin.
