Wigan Fulham Birmingham Wigan...lucky this season and I don't think Hutchings is the man for the job. Fulham...Sanchez??? Shows how much he knows by just about trying to recruit his NI squad. The only thing that might stop them coming bottom will be the fight that he'll instill in them. Brum...I don't think Bruce can get as much out of his side than Keane and Davies will. Birmingham and Sunderland have a bit more quality but will still be in the mix along with Wigan and Fulham. I also think Bolton will toil ala Charlton (although Charlton contributed to their own downfall with the premature sacking of Dowie and the nonsense appointment of Les Reed). Recent history suggests Reading will find it a lot tougher as well. If I had to pick three I'd go for

One of the great things about Britisih football used to be that teams could go through from bottom to top division...eg Watford under Taylor, the old Wimbledon etc Its a shame that the financial resources are so entrenched now that it is extremely unlikely to happen but this "big club" mentality of wishing that smaller clubs can't make it as its "pointless" is something I completely disagree with If they get up by on the field results then good luck to them I suppose "big clubs" would feel the same next season if Colchester, Scunthorpe or Barnsley went up. If that happened though i regard that as a good thing. Not least for that clubs supporters who wouldhave a season to remember just like Swindon etc did all thoseyears ago. I love the teams like Swindon/Derby going up, damm we won 4-0 away at Swindon for them to concede 100 goals for the season :P Someone has to be cannon fodder. But as you outlined the gap is so big now between the divisions virtually impossible for them to do anything apart from fight off relegation. Reading being the recent exception, they totally dominated the championship and did well this year, deserved manager of the year imo. Charlton/Curbishley too the key point being that if you survive year 1 then the money becomes self-perpetuating, until that extra something that has allowed you to stay up...either an O'Neill or a Curbishley or that special player leaves. I think comparing a Swindon type team to a Derby type is wrong. Derby are a very well supported club in a new stadium with superb young players...Holmes,Barnes, Fagan etc...all going places,and some finance unlike the last 5 years. That said though, you then have to convince star players to move to that area of the country (away from London) and its also whether or not Bruce spends it astutely. The money might keep them up, but I don't know if Brucey has been that good with his spending in the past... There are plenty of 'star players' north of London. You can see a lot in the North West, and there are also a fair few in the Midlands as well. I'm sure some of the 'stars' at West Brom might also be looking to move to a premiership team in the local area - Brum is now another choice for them. Fulham- Struggled massively end of last season, Sanchez record in club football is hardly earth shattering.
