Just what you've all been waiting for - the blondepoker fantasy football league - it's free to play, and the league is run on the premierleague.com website (where you need to register and manage your team).

If you haven't played on there before, you can register at:

    http://fantasy.premierleague.com

Once you have logged in and entered your team, click on the 'Leagues' link you can find on the the right of the page.
Then enter the code:

   44012-12055

to join the blonde league.

If you're already registered on there, you can just join the blonde league, otherwise you have to register, select your team and then join the league. 

Transfers pre-season are unlimited, so you can pick any players for your team (so you can then join the blonde league) and then go and change it as many times as you want before August 11th when the season starts.  Once the season starts you are limited on the number of transfers you can make (before it starts costing you points).

I created one for our work league last week where we have put up £20 each and winner takes all. Only 6 entrants so far though.

One question, does anyone know if it is currently possible to view other peoples teams and who they have selected?

You can't view anyone else's team until the start of the season.  Then you can only see the team they've selected at the point of the last deadline.  So you won't see any changes they've made until the following game week deadline (if I remember correctly).

The way I see it the people who do exceptionally well in fantasy teams are the ones who spot the bargain players who are going to be a suprise and get loads of points. Last year was Benny Macarthy for example.

Who are everyones secret weapons for next season?
I was thinking that Tevez will be a good buy at only 8.5mil but am now likely to drop him for someone else because I don't think he will score many points due to the players he is in competition with for places at Man Utd.
The player I am thinkng might be a good value high point scorer is Reo Coker.

There will be no manure players in my team. 

Teams that do well will use the transfer system alot. You get 1 free per week and I think its 4 points per transfer above the free one.

Picking players on form seems obvious but its true, getting a player into your team at a cost of 4 points can be made up in one game, Tevez was dead money till he hit form at the end of the season, Pompeys & Man Citys defence went on some really good runs of not conceding.

Double damn, My team is set up to ensure that I do not suffer having half of it not playing in week 2 so my advantage for month one has now disapeared with the first month starting in week 3.

So with some last minute tinkering I went against my instinct and replaced Downing (who has scored for boro) with Speed (who has conceded 3!)

So what canny people put Martins into their team for today?
And unlucky to everyone who had James in goal, although as the clieche goes, it's a marathon not a sprint....... Cant believe Le Tissier used the phrase "rose like a salmon" Havent heard that since the days of badiel and skinner on the original fantasy footy years ago.

Cant see that many people will have slected people from Man City or Sunderland as their keeper or defence unless it's a sub so I doubt many people will have gained points in comparisoon to others there.

With the big teams all playing tomorrow I guess that is where most of us are hoping to pick up points.

i just realised that it highlights injured players and i am carrying 3

means that all my subs will be used also means if anyone doesnt play then i dont get a score

might have to look into getting a transfer but i heard i lose money doing that i might just slugg it out

out of interest, can we make transfers str8 away and is there a restriction on how many we can make?

Transfers work like this:

You can make one per gameweek with no points deduction.  But you do tend to lose a few £100K from your balance (like exchanging money - you never get back what you paid).

If you want to make any additional transfers in the same gameweek, it works the same way, but there is a 4-points penalty for each additional transfer.

Of course, you can also set up your team for each gameweek in terms of who starts and the order of your subs.  These will then be set for the whole of that gameweek (for example, you can't change your team for tomorrow's games as they are part of the same gameweek).

next week some teams dont play then later in the year some teams play twice this could get confusing

what with 3 injuries and a number of players teams not playing next week i could be at a huge hanidcap

then when those teams do play i could find those players injured

man i am going to use this season to try and learn the game and then next season watch me romp home

The fact that so many teams aren't playing in week 2 affected the players I have picked initially. Had to have it so that all of my outfield subs are likely to play. (if only I had picked Howard yesterday in my first 11 instead of leaving him on the bench!)
Liverpool, Arsenal, West Ham, Newcastle, Portsmouth, Aston Villa, Blackburn and Bolton aren't playing in week 2. This makes things bloody awkward to start with.
Although my week 2 team is going to have 3 cheap players in it, I am hoping that these are all players who should at least get me some points. Plus using my free substitution to swap one of my Arsenal players for someone else.

If Chelsea let in any today I'm going to drop a lot of points due to having Cech in goal and 2 defenders from them, same with Man Utd as I have my other 2 defenders from them.

Lot's of goals/assists from Van Persie and Fabregas would be nice! 8 Players in action today from the big 3. No big upsets please!

This is only half way through week 1, what's it going to be like halfway through the season :D

i have made a transfer selling one of my injured players hopefully i can get him back when he is fit again

I put Eboue in for a couple of reasons.

1, I think we will be quite tight at the back this year

2, And I knew he would be playing on the right hand side of midfield meaning getting forward more with oppotunity to score a couple of goals. and because Sagna is likely to play right back this is why our defence will be tighter

You get one wild card per season.
This allows you to make as many transfers as you like until the deadline for no point deductions.

As tighty mentioned, I'm hoping that when Terry comes back this weekend Chelsea's defence will stop letting goals in and those points will start coming in!

Manager of the Month - Competition Change

Right - the premierleague.com site doesn't show the points deducted on the weekly score when additional transfers are made - which makes working out what anyone scored in a particular week very difficult.  That's going to make working out the gameweek scores (and the combined scores to work out the Manager of the Month).

So it looks like we'll have to change things.

Fortunately, the league table shows the score for each calendar month it appears - well it shows 'August' at the moment, and I'm guessing it's going to show each month after that as well.

That means the spreadsheet doesn't need to show the gameweek scores.  I'll just update the total score and the score from each month taken from the premierleague.com site.

Manager of the Month will be determined by each monthly score - starting in September.  That will give us 9 Managers of the Month as before, but means the final month (May) will be a very short one (but it'll be exciting). 

Hope that explanation makes sense, and I also hope the reason we've changed the way the monthly prizes will be awarded is obvious as well.

KINGJON is the Manager of the Month for September!  Just held off BOBBY1 to secure the coveted MOTM prize, a blondepoker t-shirt!  He also retains his top spot in the league - but there's still plenty of time.  It's a marathon, not a sprint.  No one's ever won the league in September, etc.

No, it was a coincidence that he topped the league in September - if Bobby1 had scored 3 more points, he'd have won MOTM for September, even though Kingjon would have topped the league in the month of September.  There is no separate league for the Manager of the Month, the one who gets the most points in that month doesn't top a league - they win MOTM and a t-shirt.

OK - just had a nudge from Nakor to do an update on the Fantasy Football...and, what a coincidence!  You wouldn't believe who's come out on top for the month of October.

Unbelievably, it's NAKOR!!  Nakor is Manager of the Month for October.  Congratulations sir!

KINGJON was narrowly edged out from the MOTM by Nakor, but he still remains top of the league, and there's now a little bit of daylight between him and the chasing pack.  It's only November though.  We all know that you don't win the league in November.  But you can certainly build the foundations - and he's doing that with some aplomb.
