Just got back from playing the 2nd event in the Women's poker tour at the Western.  There were 105 runners and the tournament started well for me, with me being CL or whereabouts for most of the tourment.  There's a nice prizepool of £11,500 to be shared among the final 10, who also get extra points towards qualifying for the grand final.

12 left, blinds 2000/4000 and I have Ahrt Kd on the button.  Cut off is well chipped up and raises an extra 7k.  I bite the bullet and go over the top, all in for 27k.  BB is shorter than me with 22k and calls.  Cut off calls the extra 16k.  I'm feeling fairly pleased when BB and cut off turn over  Kc 6c and  8d 9d respectively, until the flop comes  Kc 9h 9s.   Turn 8c to seal it, river Aspades just to rub it in, and I'm the official bubble girl.

As well as the potential prize money on the final table, I'm also on a limited sponsorship deal for the first three events of the tour with agreement that it would continue for the rest of the tour if I cashed in one of the first three, so that's several hundred more quid lost on that one hand.  I'm gutted.

A tiny bit of good news though in that the sponsors of the event have given me a free seat for one of the other competitions, but it's little consolation at the moment.

How much is the first prize in these events and how many events on the tour?

We all know that feeling Claire when you get busted so close to a big prize and it's worse when you are way ahead when the money goes in, as you were. Dust yourself off as the song goes and start all over again. (Obviously after finding an empty room, having a good scream and thumping the walls!).

Roll on event thrree.... look forward to hearing you take that one down.

thats what happens when you let women play poker against each other. Both the k6 and 89 were probably their favourite/lucky hands or they felt like gambling etc. Disgraceful that these women only events take place and it is just emphasising the fact that women arent as good players as men so need their own events to give them a chance  ;scarymoment;

Obviously unlucky, but with the stacks the way they were the re-raises were always going to be called - far too much in the pot for any of you to fold.

Original raise can surely only be a steal by the CL and by the time you push in the SS has got great value for live cards, CL then has to call with those odds (roughly 60k in already, and an extra 16k for her to call)

I already said sorry once,  Im more sorry I threw away the final table, but if K6 doesnt call I can fold to claire.  Youre right Im stealing and I have lots of chips.

Once K6 who has less chips than claire calls I have no option to call with any two cards.  Furthermore I have to presume my 89 are live cards.   I lose and have 45k left with only 12 ppl left.  I m sorry Claire lost so much more I was aware of her sponsership offer already.

But the only mistake I made was at the final table and whatever anyone says my opinion wont change.

As for you ariston your reasons for the womens events are so far out I just cant even begin to comment but again Ill gladly play with you at any tournament.   Man or woman Im calling with that hand all day long with those odds.

Set up the cash game tantrum and Im more than happy to play .

Waste of 10k can only make you look like a woman, if your born male you need to get used to the idea that you will never be perfect as we are.

9th I have no defence I made a horrid call , worse still I made the same stupid mistake not two weeks ago in the 500 in Brighton.  

Eventually Ill learn to ladder to the money but sometimes the morphine, diazapan or the gambler in me takes over not sure which.

Was wondering what happened to you Claire...ugh...gutted for you.  Have no doubt you'll pull it off next time though.  Is it just me, or did that comp seem to FLY?  Couldn't believe how fast everyone was getting knocked out.

I was gutted for you girl and I could tell by your face how sick to the stomach you were when you went out.

Look to the positive.... you went in with the best hand at a crucial point, you could have trebled up and had a hefty stack to take to the final table. The poker fairy was not on your side this time but you played a brilliant game the whole tourney (even I donated) and just got unlucky.

has it not crossed anybodies mind that the fact it finished quickly was because people were calling allins with monsters like K6 and 89. I think you should probably stick to gala (you can even play online now ladies I believe) and leave the poker to the men.

Maybe I'm wrong and it was over quickly because there was ironing and cleaning and stuff to be done ;)

Irrespective of the other players holdings - I have AK - one player has acted in strength and bet, I have two players to act behind me.

Going all-in here can never be a long term +EV move. I cant really find a strong argument for putting all my chips into already raised multiway pot with nothing more than a big drawing hand.

cut off is stacked up and has raised with blinds invitingly large and worth stealing.

LP raise from a big stack in this situation means AK is v well ahead of his range unless he/she is exceptionally tight. Throw in the fact claire is shortstacked and that she can generate a very small amount of fold equity and this is, to use a flushy-ism, an insta-push.

I don't think neither claire or pffa made a bad play, what about k6 woman? do you call here with K6s after claire pushed and you have pffa to act after you?

no K6 woman's play isn't actually very good (I'm being nice)..

Well, no need to be cruel to the little lady who played the K6 hand..she's only a girl and can't be held responisble for her play as women lack any sense of the logic that is required to play poker properly ;)
