Title: Next live APAT event Post by: Zebediah on July 30, 2007, 11:39:30 AM Any clues as to the when yet?
I've missed the last 3 due to double bookings, and I see the next one is expected in August....there are 2 bad weekends for then, one on holiday, and the other immediately after my impending vasectomy (gulp, but 4 kids enough I feel lol). Nailed on to be one of these weekends, question is will I be allowed to bring a an inflatable ring to sit on if it after the snip? I will also need a steady supply of crushed ice. Title: Re: Next live APAT event Post by: Bainn on July 30, 2007, 11:45:04 AM I can only suggest you keep an eye on APAt's own forum around Thursday.
Title: Re: Next live APAT event Post by: Paullie_D on July 30, 2007, 12:02:03 PM Consensus at Rumour Central is that it will be August Bank Holiday Weekend...hopefully with 2x Day 1 (Sat/Sun) with the Final Table(s) on Monday.
Nothing set in stone yet but..there you go. Title: Re: Next live APAT event Post by: TightEnd on July 30, 2007, 12:17:27 PM We are hoping to announce later this week, on the APAT site and forum
Apologies for the delay, due to contractual negotiations with sponsors..due to be concluded this week Title: Re: Next live APAT event Post by: Zebediah on July 30, 2007, 12:22:31 PM No problem tighty, understand fully how difficult these must be to organise.
But bank holiday weekend would be sweet (and less painfull). Title: Re: Next live APAT event Post by: TightEnd on July 30, 2007, 12:25:57 PM But bank holiday weekend would be sweet (and less painfull). yes that is the plan the press release is written, everything is set..just need the green light Forgive me but the actual details need to wait....its not ideal as time is short but we have to get everything signed and sealed What I will say is that plans for Season 2 have me completely blown away...exciting times ahead for APATers Title: Re: Next live APAT event Post by: Foggy on July 30, 2007, 12:27:10 PM Whatever date is announced, I feel that it is going to be at too short of notice to the members.
No problem with sorting the venues, but we should know actually when it is going to be staged. Title: Re: Next live APAT event Post by: Paullie_D on July 30, 2007, 01:08:19 PM Whatever date is announced, I feel that it is going to be at too short of notice to the members. No problem with sorting the venues, but we should know actually when it is going to be staged. I know from speaking to Des in the past I know that he, and the rest of the APAT Team, are concerned with the amount of notice given and am certain that this is something that they are addressing from Season 2 and beyond. From the APAT Forums... Quote Apologies for the continuing delay everyone, the plans that we are putting in place go beyond these two events and while they are delaying our ability to announce details of the European event right now, there will be benefits for all APAT members for a considerable period thereafter. The announcement will be made after a major meeting next Thursday. and... Quote ...as far as flights and accomodation is concerned, I have highlighted that not giving our customary 4 week notice period could lead to increased expeneses for members. Unfortunately big business is sometimes slow to move, but this delay will be a one off. Title: Re: Next live APAT event Post by: Zebediah on July 30, 2007, 01:51:01 PM What I will say is that plans for Season 2 have me completely blown away...exciting times ahead for APATers Hmmm, think I'll hold off turning pro for a bit then ;-) Title: Re: Next live APAT event Post by: ripple11 on July 30, 2007, 02:11:35 PM Bank Holiday weekend is fine..........as long as its Poland :) ....oh well another APAT missed! Title: Re: Next live APAT event Post by: Foggy on July 30, 2007, 02:38:02 PM Spain would be better..................just got sick of being rained on, therefore booked an holiday that weekend. Funny thing is I only booked it yesterday, because my diary was clear, no mention of APAT at all !!!!!

Only kidding about the room...but I'll pop some links up in a tick..Please don't book anything yet, as final details will be confirmed later this week. However, members may find the above information useful to make preliminary plans at home or at work. [EDIT] Here we are: Hotels nearby: Days Inn, Luton (http://www.daysinn.com/DaysInn/control/Booking/check_avail?brandCode=DI,MQ,HJ,KG,RA,SE,TL,BU&searchWithinMiles=25&areaType=1&destination=Luton&stateName=N/A&state=NA&countryName=United%20Kingdom&country=GB&checkInDate=&numberAdults=2&numberRooms=1&checkOutDate=&numberChildren=0&rateName=Best%20Avail&rate=000&id=15136&propBrandId=DI&force_nostay=true) - £75 per night (single/twin) looks to be closest. Premier Travel Inn - Luton (http://www.premiertravelinn.com/pti/hotelInformation.do?hotelId=23862) - £54 per night (single/twin) Both indicate that they may be suitable for your needs, Ironside...you'd have to check. Now....where are you flying from? Somewhere up north isn't it? Title: Re: Next live APAT event Post by: KingPoker on July 30, 2007, 04:43:45 PM Yeh seen it in pokerplayer too,
but im more interested in entry method rather than dates and venues. Can you tell us that bit at least?????? Title: Re: Next live APAT event Post by: Jon MW on July 30, 2007, 04:57:30 PM This is true, if I could be sure that there are enough places available through a direct buy-in then I could book the travel and accommodation - but if loads of places are going to go through satellites then I can't be so certain of getting a seat.
Title: Re: Next live APAT event Post by: Claw75 on July 30, 2007, 05:03:59 PM Another one I won't be able to make, but liking the sound of the promising news for next season!
Title: Re: Next live APAT event Post by: Paullie_D on July 30, 2007, 05:19:16 PM Yeh seen it in pokerplayer too, If I knew, I would (subject to Des telling me it was OK, which typically, he can't...contracts and all that, don't you know).but im more interested in entry method rather than dates and venues. Can you tell us that bit at least?????? If what I have gathered is true..[UNCONFIRMED RUMOUR ALERT] the total field could be substantially higher than any previous events. Think nearer 400/500 than 100/200. Should be enough room for all types of entry but this is, as I said, just what I have gathered from a variety of sources and is second hand rumour at best. I guess, like me, you'll have to wait for the end of the week. Title: Re: Next live APAT event Post by: DesD on July 30, 2007, 05:47:29 PM Sorry about the inconvenience everyone, but we cannot say a great deal more about the event until the announcement comes out towards the end of the week. I can state however, that it will not be a 400 to 500 runner event.
Title: Re: Next live APAT event Post by: Ironside on July 30, 2007, 05:57:01 PM cheers paullie i have sataying in the days twice but it all depends on where the event is it might yet be in the orkneys (there in europe right?)
if its luton i will fly in from aberdeen or inverness depends on if its a 2 or 3 day comp and if i can play on the sunday rather than the saturday no matter which though the price starts going up after you break the 5 week to go barrier so i am hoping i can get a place soon so i can secure a cheapish flight Title: Re: Next live APAT event Post by: AndrewT on July 30, 2007, 06:01:25 PM Sorry about the inconvenience everyone, but we cannot say a great deal more about the event until the announcement comes out towards the end of the week. I can state however, that it will not be a 400 to 500 runner event. Poker Player magazine does seem very certain of the details and that would have gone to print a couple of weeks ago Quote from: PokerPlayer The Amateur Poker Association and Tour has set a Bank Holiday date for the final tournament of the year, the European Amatuer Championship. The tourney will take place over the weekend of August 25-27 to accommodate two day ones and give more members a shot at playing. A capacity 300 field is expected for the £75 buy-in event, which will take place at the Luton Grosvenor Casino. See www.apat.com for qualifying details and the very latest news.
