This is true, if I could be sure that there are enough places available through a direct buy-in then I could book the travel and accommodation - but if loads of places are going to go through satellites then I can't be so certain of getting a seat.

If I knew, I would (subject to Des telling me it was OK, which typically, he can't...contracts and all that, don't you know).

If what I have gathered is true..[UNCONFIRMED RUMOUR ALERT] the total field could be substantially higher than any previous events. Think nearer 400/500 than 100/200.  Should be enough room for all types of entry but this is, as I said, just what I have gathered from a variety of sources and is second hand rumour at best.

I guess, like me, you'll have to wait for the end of the week.

Sorry about the inconvenience everyone, but we cannot say a great deal more about the event until the announcement comes out towards the end of the week.  I can state however, that it will not be a 400 to 500 runner event.

cheers paullie i have sataying in the days twice but it all depends on where the event is it might yet be in the orkneys (there in europe right?)

if its luton i will fly in from aberdeen or inverness depends on if its a 2 or 3 day comp and if i can play on the sunday rather than the saturday

no matter which  though the price starts going up after you break the 5 week to go barrier so i am hoping i can get a place soon so i can secure a cheapish flight

Poker Player magazine does seem very certain of the details and that would have gone to print a couple of weeks ago

Quote from: PokerPlayer
The Amateur Poker Association and Tour has set a Bank Holiday date for the final tournament of the year, the European Amatuer Championship. The tourney will take place over the weekend of August 25-27 to accommodate two day ones and give more members a shot at playing. A capacity 300 field is expected for the £75 buy-in event, which will take place at the Luton Grosvenor Casino. See www.apat.com for qualifying details and the very latest news.

There are details above and beyond what PokerPlayer printed, that will be confirmed later this week Andrew.  The weekend and the venue are not in question.

KP is right Al, we have held off doing a group wide email in July until we could address the last two tournaments of the season.  In addition, the newsletter is updated on the APAT site after every online event.  You can expect an email shortly  Cheesy

No problem Des

In fact, noticing the info about Luton in the mag has given me the kick up the arse to finally join APAT, so I may well see you in Luton.
