Title: If you were asked to show someone how to play poker
Post by: johnbhoy76 on September 18, 2007, 05:55:34 PM
What version of poker would you start off with and why?

Personally I think 5 card draw.

As you get all 5 cards at once so it is easier to pick up the hand rankings that way. Would make it 'limit' also so that we could just concentrate on rasie, call or fold without going into how much to bet etc...

6-card omaha, pot limit.

Then it'll get easier for them from there!

That's like teaching someone to swim by locking them in a chest, putting the chest in a sack, then throwing it in a river.

I'd agree with 5 card draw...or limit holdem. either one would be good.

Limit holdem would be good as you can very easily demonstrate pot odds in a rigid betting structure.

Ask them to play you for real money whilst they learn, teach them badly and take em for all theyre worth.

After all theyll only lose it all online anyway, best that your the recipient!!
