What version of poker would you start off with and why?
Personally I think 5 card draw.
As you get all 5 cards at once so it is easier to pick up the hand rankings that way. Would make it 'limit' also so that we could just concentrate on rasie, call or fold without going into how much to bet etc...

badugi or 2-7 triple draw
or simple nl holdem.....easy to pick up
give them an A4 sheet of hand rankings with lots of cards and colours

I'd agree with 5 card draw...or limit holdem. either one would be good.

Limit holdem would be good as you can very easily demonstrate pot odds in a rigid betting structure.
