Greetings my pretties from er... Brimingham. Yep, I'm still here after updating the Broadway event, but I'm on my way down to London as soon as I have finished posting this message and will be bracing myself for a (hopefully) thrilling Leg 2 of Season 4's Pokerstars.com European Poker Tour. The venue this time is the newly refurbished Grosvenor Victoria Casino, now boasting an entire floor of poker tables meaning no more running up and down the numerous levels for your intrepid, but perhaps slightly unfit update team.

Last year, The Queen Vic of the er.. Vic, was the voluptuous, male eye-luring sight of Victoria Coren who took top spot, the hometown hero proving that she was more than just a successful journalist as she toppled a tough final table to take home half a million pounds worth of bacon - and believe you me, that's a lot of pigs!

With the entry fee rising to £5,200 for this outing of the EPT, I can't quite calculate how many British players will be present. At Barcelona, the rise in price perhaps triggered a Scandinavian invasion, but this time around we have a local event that should provide a larger homegrown contingent for you to support and back. If you are one of those people taking a stab at this event or you know someone who is, then please do let us know by posting on this thread. Similarly, if you are following a non-Brit, we'd more than happy to oblige with your requests by finding hands, chip-counts and photos of the player in question.

Does anyone happen to have the result of the £1000 omaha tourney which was played on Sun/Mon ?

GL to Flushy and Moorman. Dunno what days they are playing on, but believe you me if these guys can get chips they will be very dangerous.

I have bought a 2.5% share in moorman so ill take a moorman flushy 1/2  just got a feeling they will go deep. Flushy has been on fire this year and moorman plays that many mtts online he probably has more experience of mtt situations then any other player in the field. ONE TIME LADS.

Yoohoo, I've arrived! ;sark;

I actually arrived a good 90 minutes before the scheduled kick-off time, but in coherence with Sod's Law (if I ever meet this Sod fellow!...),  I was informed that the Casino doesn't open till Noon. Oh sweet Jesus of Nazareth, the first time I'm early for an event and I have to sit on the concrete twiddling my thumbs until the flesh is visible.

Not to worry though, I'm have hacked my way into Fort Knox and am thankfull set up in the media room and raring to go. In truth, they weren't too fussy about the dresscode and whatnot, although this may have been predominantly due to the crowd of poker degenerates who were flooding the entrance. "Er, yes, just go through." Crikey, things have certainly changed here, I think I could have bowled through in my jim jams.

Having sped up to the media room in double quick time to assure myself of the two Holy Grails of poker - a table and a plug hole - I didn't catch sight of too many faces. Off the top of my head, I only spotted Australia's Rayan Nathan, a few young, blonde Scanides (are there any other kind) and a young lad called Justin Smith who had stormed across the pond to ambush our EPTs. I'm sure there will be plenty of names turning up fashionably late (it's not cool to be as early as me don't you know), I'll keep you updated if I spot any of them.

At the moment, it doesn't look like this comp is going to start before the Last Judgment, but you never know. It's quite fortunate really, as our mystery updater has encountered train problems and is consequently slightly behind schedule.

In the meantime, anyone fancy a sporting wager on the start time?

I'm going for 2.45pm.

I have 50p with the guys in the media room, one of whom intentionally tried to stitch me up by going for 2.50pm and urging his partner to select 2.40pm. The rascal!

No, I decided to sit this one out.

Just been down to the cardroom for the first time. It's quite a sight and a far cry from last year's segregated mess (sorry, just being honest). However, although the Vic have hurled themselves into the 21st century with a nice spacious cardroom, they still have those ruddy 3-cornered tables - a blogger's nightmare!

The first exit of the day was a bone-crunching set over set confrontation and the trend has continued, Christopher Convery being bashed down to the felt by the foreboding bracelet winning paw of Jeff Lisandro, the Italian dominating with 8-8 v 7-7 on a T-8-7 Flop. Ouch!

If Swedish pro Chris Bjorin (5,200) had moved to Ireland instead of London, they would have snapped him up in a second, so I'm going to adopt Mr Bjorin as a UK player, which is something that I can no longer do to his neighbour, Donnacha O'Dea (4,250), the former Olympic swimmer having cemented his status as an Irish legend a long long time ago.

Oddly, both players are wearing the same shirt, so they must shop at the same place. Players rarely wear the same gear as me, but I guess if they can afford to buy in for 5 grand then they don't really need to shop at Matalan.

Is there any relation between harry and maria?

Meanwhile, my attention is diverted towards another British player, last year's Champ and eye-popping sex-kitten Vicky Coren. She's not fairing quite so well just yet, her stack being knocked down to 6.3k after being re-raised off a 5h 9c 7c 4s board. She quickly turned to tablemate and long time buddy Barny Boatman to discuss the hand, but he's still wearing a constant smile from accumulating a nice chunky 21,675 stack.

I should have guessed really, there's definitely a family resemblance... plus they're both from a Greek island.

Andrew Dwyer a Paddy Power qualify hasnt come here to make up the numbers, he is tangling in a lot of pots especially with Mark Teltscher on his table it aint pretty.  I walked by just as Teltscher pushed his remaing 3,000 or so in the middle against Dwyer.  The board was

The catherine wheel imploded on the turn of a Qc Qs 7d 9s board, Joshua Tyler betting 2k, Fischman making it 4.2k and Vos unhesitatingly sticking in another raise to 7k. Whilst Tyler quickly folded Fischman wasn't so keen to release his hand, and understandably so as he shoved in his remaining chips and revealed a menacing pair of Nines.

Sensing his fate as Fischman called quicker than a jet-propelled Linford Christie, Vos dejectedly flipped over his Qh Th and begrudgingly passed over the surplus chips on the 8d River.

I spotted Deauville 2006 champ Mats Iremark trundling towards the rail so assumed he was out, but oh how I've learned not to jump to conclusions with this blogging lark, as moments later I noticed him at the table with 15k. By coincidence, he was actually involved in a hand with one of the biggest fishes around, well, Dave 'Devilifish' Ulliott anyhow.

I think it was a slight case of pinchy pincy catchy catchy, because when it was checked down on the end of a 9-3-Q-A-9 rainbow board, it was the tourette's winking Devilifish raking in the pot with A-T vs. T-7, the Swede's stack decreasing by a couple of thousand as a result.

Unless he moved there last week, although a frequent visitor he actually lives in Washington DC  ::)

Jeff Lisandro is still riding higher than the sun with a near 30k in chips. Next door to him is an equally formidable opponent in Martin Wendt (12,425), who not only finalled in a Poker Million, but also won the recent William Hill televised event. Then, in seat ten, and thankful for being the right side of the aforementioned menaces is young Swedish player Vicktor Wessman with 9,200.

I'm still snapping him up. DC = Dave Colclough = Dave lives in England. I think that link is strong enough to say Bjorin is one of our own.

I got news from Luca Pagano about his neighbour Mick McCool's very early exit in the first 30 mins. Although I jested about these 2 earlier, McCool's exit would have had me crying and booting toilet doors (no, I have never done that, honest!!)

There was a raise and 3 callers, one of them being McCool with  4c 5c.  The flop brought a glorious

Mateboy holding  8d 8h bet half the pot and McCool called.  The turn was the glorry  7h and at the this point all the chips went in.  Mateboy trips obviously had outs but the 4th 8 on the river for quads must have sickened McCool and he was gone gone.

Coming up to level 4 now 150 / 300 and around 135 players still in.

I saw Dave Colclough very nearly in hot water when he pushed on a Q high flop with Q9 but was called by a cute KK but Dave (well the dealer) got even cuter when he rivered a third Q.

Ben Johnson has raced out of this comp... raced in the sense of gone crashing out rather than coinflipping, which he was far from doing as his Sevens failed to hit against pretend Englishman Nicolas Levi's dominating Kings.

Whilst John Tabatabai is yet to repeat his WSOPE form with 8,800, Donnacha O'Dea is either multi-tabling the cash games or actually out of the comp - I'd go with the latter.

In regards to the prior requests for Spaniards, I just gave Daniel Mangas the Spanish Inquisition (ahem, get in there!) to locate his countyrmen who seemed to have either moved tables or been sent hurtling out of the competition. My English is sloppy at the best of time and Mangas isn't fluent in the Queen's, so we might have well been speaking in Clingon the way our conversation went. After much pointing and speaking loudly, I think we confirmed that whilst Hector Furentes has bitten the dust, Raul Mestre is certainly alive and kicking on the adjacent table, down to 6,300 but quietly evaluating his opponents and jotting down notes on his notepad.

Johnny Lodden has just clashed with a fellow Norwegian, Henning Granstad, know to some as Granismo, calling a river bet on a 4h 2s Tc 4c 4s and being shown 4d 3c by Mr bad_ip.

As the field thins, the barman is becoming less and less cheery as he is sent running frantically back and forth across the bar to cater for all the grumpy departures that want to drown their sorrows. One of those players is the Geordie Rocket Man himself, Paul Gourlay, who after folding A-9 to a raise and a re-raise (both had Big Slick) only to find the Flop come A--9-x, angrily (or so he'd have them think) chucked in his last 2.8k to a 900 raise with Pocket Tens. Mateyboy called the extra 1.9k and showed Q-J, which subsequently hit to send Gourlay hurtling towards the bar in search of a pint of Newcastle Brown Ale.

But my bias aside, his assassin has plenty of fans of his own, Johnny Lodden's J-T v the American's T-T on a J-Q-9 Flop enough to see the Nowegian forming a familiar site - a big stack early doors.

Virtually all-in on a 2s Th 9d 7h board with 8c 7c, Arnaud's opponent briskly called with Jh Ts and survived the raggy River to knock his foe down to just 2.5k.

I've been on the hunt trying to find the big stacks but not many around.  I cant see anyone above 50,000 at the moment and only Goodwin and a couple of others near that mark.

Barney Boatman was ponding over the stack of a certain Dennis Plejdrup on his table.  He said "that kid has had AA 8 times and KK 10 times, and thats only the ones we have seen!"  Well their stacks are quite similar, Barny Boatman has 29K and Plejdrup about 27K.  Think Barny is sore about his AA getting busted by said kids AQ.  He found it funny tho, eventually.

Dave Colclough has just sent Dario Minieri to the rail.  Action was seen after the board had arrived with 2 aces on it.  The cards in front of Dave was  Ad Ks and the marvelous   Jd 3d were infront of the pint sized Minieri.  Dave scratches head and stacks.

As I made my last jaunt down to the casino, one of the tables I passed was displaying an intriguing flop, two Mateyboys (woooo, Mateyboy squared at last!) all-in with Queens versus Kings and a Poker-Gods-inspired J-Q-K Flop. Two Eights on the Turn and River and the mighty relieved chap to the right of this picture earned himself a timely double up.

If you notice, also pictured is Spaniard Raul Mestre, who I believe was requested earlier on. He's on 6,700.

I think I must have a horseshoe in one pocket and a rabbit's foot in the other as I've managed to unearth Simon Munoz, one of the few players requested that is actually sitting in his original seat.

A quietly spoken lad (or so it would seem), he quickly confirmed his identity before informing me of a very playable 44k stack.

I'm afraid I have just learned that Irishman Andrew Dwyer exited just prior to the 30 minute dinner break. You can normally tell when an Irishman is pushing up the poker daises as he'll be propping up the bar just moments later. I did ask him what happened, but my Irish isn't up to scratch so the details are a bit fuzzy. I did make out a clash with Mark Teltscher though with K-J vs. Q-Q on a Jack high flop that took the majority of his chips.

Possible chip leader at the moment is Swede Ola Brandborn, his stack now rising to the dizzy heights of 75.5k and inducing a smile longer than a row of Cheshire Cats. His latest confrontation didn't reveal any hands, but after re-raising his opponent from 2.5k to 10k on a Tc 7h Js 3s board before betting 12k on the 4s River was enough to increase his stack to chip-lead threatening proportions. Ola is very popular with the girls here in the mediaroom, the words 'girth and rumour' and the use of an arm as a physical description producing a mythical status that I wish I possessed.

No mess power play poker from Nicolas Levi who almost encouraged his Swedish foe to fold the same hand, Jon Lundberg's pre-flop re-raise to 3k being followed by a huge all-in of circa 40k from part-time hatpimp Levi. With a very playable 20k left, Lundberg was faced with a tricky decision with A-K, but he made the correct move, calling and chop chopping after an uneventful J-J-9-5-T board.

As Jeff Kimber was slumped into an armchair in the bar and entangled in a conversation with Trevor Reardon, I quickly inquired with Iwan Jones as to the route of Jaffacake's exit. Although the "Ran A-K into Aces" response seemed simple enough, Jeff was keen to tell a fuller story and quickly beckoned me back.

"The big hand was with Jeff Rogers," reported the Barcelona Heads Up Champ. "Half of my stack went to him when I called his raise from the big blind with A-J. I check-raised him on an A-K-2 Flop, only for him to push in for just a few thousand more. I called and he showed A-9, only to hit a 9 on the River."

Jonas Molander has been mullered.  One of the chip leaders Ola Brandborn, who has in previous times been a writer for various poker magazines, is transitioning into poker playing stardom.  He raised to 1,500 in middle position to find Jonas on the BB going all in for 13,250.  It didnt take Brandborn too long to call the extra 12k with JQ suited!!  Molander was holding AK and a flopped Q was enough to send Jonas Molander OUT in the last level.

One time big chipper Paul Christofferson has handed the baton over to long-haired-orange-jumper-wearing Spaniard Daniel Magnas, the chips flying in on 5s Jd 6s Flop, with the Swede praying that his 5h 5c holds up against Daniel's Aspades 4s flush draw. A Qs Turn was pretty clinical, especially when Daniel avoided a paired board on the Ks River.

As a result, Daniel Magnus is now fighting it out for the chip lead with a rather tickety boo 70 to 75k in chips. Hopefully he'll go deep and purchase a new jumper with his winnings.  ;hide; ;hide; ;hide;

I haven't seen either of them for a good long while and I had a quick scour of the remaining tables as the organisers were ushering media back behind the rail, but I couldn't see them. I think we are getting chip counts overnight so can confirm, but it doesn't look good, especially with Tabatabai wearing his multi-coloured dreamcoat.

At the very death, and just as the players were counting out their chips ready for the pleasurable stack-in-bag manoeuvre, I spotted a young chap who looked vaguely American and inquired upon his name.

The answer was a welcome one, an across-the-pond accent replying "Michael Martin" and informing me of a 22,500 stack.

"Is that my mom?" he asked proudly.

2 minutes before the end of the night, Devilfish & Chris Moneymaker clash. 

A random mateyboy raises to 1,600, round to Devilfish who reraises another 6k, he has about 13k behind.  Upto Moneymaker who gestures ALL IN.  Original raiser gets out the way and Devilfish makes the all in call.

One player to suffer from lasthandexititus was Johnny Lodden, the shortstacked Norwegian pushing in his remaining 4,350 with Aspades Js and relieved to find himself racing against 4h 4c.

A 4d 8c Kd 6c 3s board was pretty conclusive.

The current chip leader according to our source is the hatpimp himself, Nicolas Levi.

After spending much of the day hovering around the 40k mark following a blistering start, Levi rose to 55k before winning a 100k pot with a paltry 9-7 off suit.

"This aggressive player raised to 1.7k and I made it 5k because I was getting sick of him raising. He called, but the flop came 9h 7h 5c. I thought he could easily have a hand that will push over the top, so I bet out and he did indeed move all-in for 40k. I called and he showed Ahrt Jh for the flush draw. When an Ad hit the Turn, my testicles sank into my body and I just prayed for something small and something black. The river was a 6c. Pheeeeeeew"

Right at the end of the night, Dave Colclough was involved in a hand that can be described as Karma correcting itself.  Dave raises to 1.8k and is called in 2 spots one being Age Spets.  Flop

Dave & mateboy check but Spets makes it 5k, mateboy goes all in for 15.5k.  Dave C called and Spets folded.  Mateboy had  Aspades  9s, Dave had  Ac Jd.  U know whats next?  Runner runner spade for a flush and a 45k pot.

The final report I prised from the players as the trickled towards Edgware Road in search of a black cap was courtesy of Arnaud Mattern, the Frenchman now living in the UK semi-pleased to have recovered from just 2.5k but simultaneously disappointed to have risen to 25k but drop back down to 11k.

Still, from just 2.5k, it's hard to complain, Arnuad making commencing his comeback with Aces versus Nines after nabbing the blinds uncontested a few times.

We are awaiting a full list of chip counts and remaining players and it should arrive in our inbox's sometime during the night.  The list will definately be posted before the start of Day 1b tomorrow.  There should be about 60 players left though.
