Title: How to relax? Pre-Op nerves. Post by: Acidmouse on November 13, 2007, 12:08:20 PM Popping into Hospital tomorrow for a knee operation, can't relax or stop feeling panic in my stomach. Worst fear in world is hospitals and being clostrophobic in them.
Any legal methods to get me relaxed so I can at least sleep tonight? :( Title: Re: How to relax? Pre-Op nerves. Post by: Claw75 on November 13, 2007, 12:28:44 PM not really got any advice, just wanted to say best of luck, and hope you have a speedy recovery x
Title: Re: How to relax? Pre-Op nerves. Post by: RED-DOG on November 13, 2007, 12:31:27 PM Just stay awake and play poker. If you fall saleep, fine. If you are absolutely exausted tomorrow, fine.

Post by: cdw1111 on November 13, 2007, 03:47:37 PM My one and only hospital stay i was petrified aswell, just tell the nurse straight away and they probably give you something like temazapen(sp?).It was truly relaxing,i remember telling the nurse to" wheeeeellll meee innn" to the operating theatre, whilst turning my head and the world taking a while to catch up.

Post by: Harmony26 on November 13, 2007, 05:58:24 PM Sorry only just seen this - Bach Rescue Remedy drops are calming, patchouli/lavendar - any relaxing oils/incense sticks burning in background tonight. Breathe in deep and exhale really, really slowly, through your mouth, shaped as though you were going to whistle (or were Colchester Kev about to kiss Ginger...).
All the very, very best, Acid from Bainn and Harmony Title: Re: How to relax? Pre-Op nerves. Post by: Sheriff Fatman on November 13, 2007, 06:12:02 PM Best wishes for the op Acid.
Title: Re: How to relax? Pre-Op nerves. Post by: madasahatstand on November 13, 2007, 06:54:58 PM Have a speedy recovery and make sure you get lots of greens down you post op. It will help with the healing. Oh and if they are knocking you out, tell them to also give you an anti emetic because those anaesthetics can make you feel so nauseous.
I find distration therapy the most beneficial:) Just dont think about it til you need to. It works for me:) Title: Re: How to relax? Pre-Op nerves. Post by: Dewi_cool on November 13, 2007, 10:54:08 PM I find that wine & or malt whisky does the trick.
