Title: Wow, what a night at Dusk Till Dawn, 132 players + 10 cash games !
Post by: DTD-ACES on December 14, 2007, 09:25:21 AM
Last night at dusk till (http://www.dtdpoker.com/aff/BlonditesDownload) dawn (http://www.dtdpoker.com/aff/BlonditesDownload) we had our 2nd £50 tournament, the cap was 108 which was met with 30 minutes to go and we ended up with 26 alternates. Amazingly 24 made it in during the first hour making a total prizepool of £6600 and over £2250 to the winner !

In our first £50 last week we had 119 players and 6 cash games, well the word must be spreading.

The cash games tonight started at 8.15pm and by 11pm we had 9 from £0.50 £1 to £2 £5 No Limit and a £5 £5 dealers choice , we peaked at 1am with another £5 £5 dealers to give us 10 cash games and 2 STT running, most continued till 3am then we had 5 running till 5am and 3 for most of the last hour.

Thanks to all of you for playing at dusk till (http://www.dtdpoker.com/aff/BlonditesDownload) dawn (http://www.dtdpoker.com/aff/BlonditesDownload).

Excellent stuff.  I'm definitely visiting in the New Year.  I'll probably venture in to the cash games too as you have a nice low level for me to start :)

Have a good night tonight :)

Yeah it was buzzing again last night, 10 cash games going on at one time is remarkable. Congrats Simon and the rest of the DTD team

What time are the main tournaments finshing now, I will be bringing a group of 15-20 in January and would like to have some idea what time to arrange transport for ?

I played an early £100 one and was 5am when I went out, the new structure seems better but I haven't been around late enough to see the finish time

Whahoo! 10 Cash Games, & the Tourney sold out 30 minutes before SU&D! Terrific news, The East Midlands recaptures the title of the UK's premier Poker location. Top stuff.

I hop to be there on Sunday, for the £200, all being well.

How does this fit in with the business model..?

132 players have got to service o'heads and service finance on £3mill of capital expenditure?..not possible.

What volume do you need to be on target to break even?

I think the plan is to increase operations gradually so that more players can do the servicing :P

Yes, I agree, its not possible, but the place does look really great and I like going there and passing time with friends, you just can't put a price on all of the good times that I know I will have in future at DTD.

Cheers Rob

To be honest its a bit cheeky of anyone to ask these sort of questions about Robs/DTDs finances etc etc. All I know is that DTD is a fecking top place and I will be supporting the club as much as much as I can, simply because its an awesome place to play poker and there is a good bunch down of people down there. I'm more than happy contributing whatever I can to the cause by doing that and it would be more if I wasn't such an online cash game fish.............

Has Rob not said from the very start that the club was HIS own Poker room which was for a friendly game and it did not really matter how many came through the doors as long as the people that did had an enjoyable game.

Last night there was 75 runners in the £100 fo and l seen 10/11 cash games going at one point. This must be better than Rob and the team ever expected for a Saturday night. There is a hard core of local players forming already, which numbers 60+ but last night l seen many decent brummies including Marcus Beeb Jones, Steve Holden and Chris (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=68) Johnson (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=68). Along with these, lots of Blondes attended of which l seen RED DOG leaving around 5.20am this morning.

I think people who moan, complain or make comments about the financial situation at dt (http://www.dtdpoker.com/aff/BlonditesDownload)d (http://www.dtdpoker.com/aff/BlonditesDownload) should read over Rob's original DIARY and u will realise that making a few quid was never important but would be a bonus! It is an exceptional place with probably the best atmosphere l have ever encountered in poker! Rob, Darren, Nick, the two Simons and all the staff interact with you from the moment u enter the building and wether u win or lose, u leave having experienced a lovely evening. Tonight l heard someone complaining about paying for a diet coke, to which l said to him, go back to Gala and drink the piss water they call coke. As for paying for a tea, l will pay for it anyday of the week as long as it is decent and the person bringing it to me doesn't resemble the Hunch Back of Notre Dame.

Come on people, lets give it the backing it deserves. I think Mr Yong will be playing tonight and l heard a rumour he might be putting an equivalent bounty on his barnet(£200). Also l believe Tikay is making an appearance, how can anyone resist!

Cheeky??? F*ck me there's a 4,000 page chuffin thread about the feckin place.

I was merely asking because it would be a disaster for Rob, (and the poker community too I guess), if DtD didn't make it and wondered where they were vis a vis 'Actual vs Budget'.

Unlucky "Pablo", see u again soon hopefully m8. I will get u a drink mate. If u had been around Neeko l would have treated u, Marcus and I headed next door for a bit of light entertainment after the comp, was EXTREMELY good  ;angel; and another advantage of the dtd location.

Good Luck

I thought from your diary that one of the conditions of dt (http://www.dtdpoker.com/aff/BlonditesDownload)d (http://www.dtdpoker.com/aff/BlonditesDownload) getting the license was that you could not play Rob ?

I'm hoping to get down myself soon from Glasgow, but in the meantime massive respect to you Rob.

Dougie.

Can someone please ask Tikay how he did in the DTD £200? He muttered something about pushing all in with 8 6 off when his opponent had trip jacks, I would have asked more but I was still playing the first hand of the competition......

I'll repeat that - the first hand of the competition......  ;whistle;

He's obv made a high class moved that was wasted on the other person.  Such moves can sometimes only be appreciated by the cream of professionals.

It was another truly terrific evening at dtd, & the Atmo there is really starting to come together now. There were again some 10 Cash-Tables on the go most of the evening. The Cash-Game players included Thewy, Rob Yong, Chubbs, Red-Dog, Chili, Kim Costa, Barry Neville, etc, so as you can imagine, the craic was splendid. There were players from all over the place there - several from Birmingham, including Des Bling Bling Jonas, & Tracey Delll & snatimaras made the journey up from Luton.

I think it's important to put the record straight as to my performance in the £200 Tournament, as I make my living from commenting on the game, & I need to protect my reputation.

For starters, I never held 8-6 in my exit hand, this would be a quite ridiculous hand upon which to stake one's entire Tourney.

In fact, I played pretty faultless poker early on, with excellent judgement. Then the Guy to my left got very lucky on me.

The Flop had come.....

 Ad Jh Td

I'd Bet out on that flop, he'd Re-Raised, I shoved, & he made an awesome call.

He was holding  Jc Js. I had  9d 3d. How these guys make these calls mystifies me, especially on what was, technically, the first hand of a Tourney - I think I'm a target these days. He had almost no re-draws in his hand - except to the Full House - & if it came a backdoor straight, we are chopping it up. He managed to dodge the bullets & his hand hung on.

No, I limped on Thewy's BB, intending to nick it off the Luckbox Post-Flop (he's so weak),  & JJ Man Raised it up behind me. I called the Raise, thus perfectly disguising the strength of my hand. When the Cards went on their backs, he looked quite shocked, as did many. The art of deception is all-important in poker, & nobody  - not a soul - had me on that.
