Yeah, they did. Though it was an acquiescence rather than a tactical decision.

They were trying to run it but kept getting pushed back. Once England has pushed them back behind their own try line they kind of realised they weren't going to score, plus there was a greater risk of England scoring, which would have knocked the edge off the Italian performance. So one of their players decided to end the game.

I think it must have been the poorest England performance I've ever seen. Once again in the second half they looked totally inept. :(
