Title: Battrick FC, 12/2 Post by: divaflava on February 12, 2008, 12:47:39 PM Tough game for me, away to one of my chief rivals. It's sunny, they've selected a flat pitch and won the toss to bat first. Fairly happy to have kept them to 123-2, getting their gun bat (7k wage) out for 63 in the last over for lunch. He's got a 7kwage and a 4.5kwage bowler in his attack so don't want to be chasing more than low 300s.
GL all! Title: Re: Battrick FC, 12/2 Post by: Bongo on February 12, 2008, 01:00:17 PM End of Over 37 (Maiden). all star sixhtters: 73-5, runrate=1.97
I thought this would be an easy game, but he took a Div3 side out of the cup on Sunday! Cracked pitch, Partially Cloudy and Humid weather today and Sunny tomorrow. Ideally I'd like him to hang around a little while without scoring :| Title: Re: Battrick FC, 12/2 Post by: Bongo on February 12, 2008, 01:01:29 PM He seems to have rested his best players so maybe I shouldn't be so worried :)

Confused by his team choice, must have decided to target the guy I played last week, or has decided he will get relegated whatever this season. Title: Re: Battrick FC, 12/2 Post by: Bazzaboy on February 12, 2008, 05:34:27 PM Pretty disappointing first day. Hopefully I can get the final bowling point and deny them the final batting point. Going to be difficult to win from here.

Title: Re: Battrick FC, 12/2 Post by: amcgrath1uk on February 12, 2008, 09:34:33 PM playing a better side in FC so decided to rest my 1st team bowlers, and play just a couple of 1st team batters ( obv with sublime fitness).
bowled 1st as I wanted to, and they finished 350AO. Played a 5th bowler who'd never bowled b4 ( med/worthless) and he finished with 4-36!! In reply lost an early wicket but at the close am 69-1. May sneak a win or ease to a draw. Title: Re: Battrick FC, 12/2 Post by: KeithyB on February 13, 2008, 10:23:21 AM Up against far superior team Cumbria (clearly unfair as it's a whole county! ;D), who finished 2nd in div V last season and he's picked a strong team for some reason!
Stopped looking at wages after 5 players had nearly totalled £40k a week between them. ;surrender; Have picked a reasonable lineup, loaded the batting predominantly, as I'm still curious to see exactly how far off these guys I am plus there's not really any fitness issues with my huge squad! Obviously only aim is draw and was quite pleased to bat out the day for 219-9. Today will just be a case of how many, how quickly, for him but hopefully he'll bat all day. ;) Title: Re: Battrick FC, 12/2 Post by: Bazzaboy on February 13, 2008, 12:52:54 PM Not going according to plan. If you can do that and bat on a bit I think you'll be reet. edit: should be ok! I'm doing OK now: End of Over 30 (1 runs). all star sixhtters: 60-4, runrate=2.00 (1st Inn: 89-10) He was being stubborn until Leacock came into the attack, but he's not looking so good now. So ideal scenario now would be for loads of tight overs without taking the last two wickets both taking time out of the game and leaving me able to overtake his total tomorrow. End of Over 75 (Maiden). Cumbria: 335-8, runrate=4.47 Lead by 115 runs. (Athletico Foxy 220-10) Shipp 15-3-47-2 Cunningham* 105 (110 balls) Nugent 3 (26 balls) Last Wicket: Bomani c. Hutchison b. With a lead of 281 i've made them follow on. I'd ideally like 3 wickets before the end of play today. Title: Re: Battrick FC, 12/2 Post by: Bazzaboy on February 13, 2008, 04:32:53 PM My game has taken an unexpected twist..my bowlers have knocked over his top order quickstyle. The draw layers will be happy :). It looks as though I'll be chasing a fairly modest total to win the match assuming his tail doesn't put up some heroic resistance.

Title: Re: Battrick FC, 12/2 Post by: Bongo on February 13, 2008, 05:00:58 PM I've sealed my win by an innings and 100 od runs.

He is currently 115-1 in the 2nd innings, still needing 166 to make me bat again. I'm wishing i had put a first team XI bowler in my line up. Looking on the bright side my team is set up to bat down to 9, with forecast sunny on hard fast pitch so it is possible. Really not sure on orders though, as was going to bat defensively again but now runs may come into play as I'm not as far behind as expected! Especially considering he may well set attacking bowling options. :dontask: Title: Re: Battrick FC, 12/2 Post by: amcgrath1uk on February 13, 2008, 09:48:34 PM The word annoying springs to mind!!
Left for work sitting comfortably at 117-2, chasing their 350. Get to work and check and we've collapsed to 160AO. 2nd innings hanging on at 190-8 to tire him out, but obv needing miracles. Very defensive settings now in action! Kinda happy that I've taken him to 3 days with my 2nd team. Title: Re: Battrick FC, 12/2 Post by: Bazzaboy on February 14, 2008, 12:22:05 PM So far so good.
