playing a better side in FC so decided to rest my 1st team bowlers, and play just a couple of 1st team batters ( obv with sublime fitness).

bowled 1st as I wanted to, and they finished 350AO. Played a 5th bowler who'd never bowled b4 ( med/worthless) and he finished with 4-36!!

In reply lost an early wicket but at the close am 69-1. May sneak a win or ease to a draw.

Up against far superior team Cumbria (clearly unfair as it's a whole county!  Grin), who finished 2nd in div V last season and he's picked a strong team for some reason!
Stopped looking at wages after 5 players had nearly totalled £40k a week between them.

Have picked a reasonable lineup, loaded the batting predominantly, as I'm still curious to see exactly how far off these guys I am plus there's not really any fitness issues with my huge squad!

Obviously only aim is draw and was quite pleased to bat out the day for 219-9.

Today will just be a case of how many, how quickly, for him but hopefully he'll bat all day.   Wink

thought I'd do better today with my best bats to come and sunny weather... instead I've done worse:

End of Over 99 (2 runs). Bigglesthwaite CC: 297-9, runrate=3.00

Still have a nice big first innings lead though, but dropping some bonus points Sad

Well I managed to hang on long enough to get the batting point and for Tau to get his century.  I will need to bat better in the second innings for a draw.

The players are off the field for tea.

End of Over 67 (3 runs). KBOTW: 208-9, runrate=3.10
Trail by 131 runs. (Henley Town 339-10)
Kennedy 17-2-39-2
Tau* 104 (176 balls)
Dlomo 0 (14 balls)

Last Wicket: Wardley b. Kennedy 0 (FOW: 196/9)

EDIT  All out for 211.  If he scores some runs quickly in his 39overs today I'll be looking at having to possibly bat 80+ overs for a draw.

Have you avoided the follow on? edit: yes

If you can do that and bat on a bit I think you'll be reet. edit: should be ok!

I'm doing OK now:
End of Over 30 (1 runs). all star sixhtters: 60-4, runrate=2.00 (1st Inn: 89-10)

He was being stubborn until Leacock came into the attack, but he's not looking so good now.

Wouldn't mind him hanging around for the next 40 overs and me getting some extra cash, but not too fussed about it Smiley

The players are off the field for tea.

End of Over 86 (4 runs). Gorseybrigg old boys: 322-6, runrate=3.74
Lead by 34 runs. (Jurassic Park 288-10)
Mcgreal   15-0-67-1
Du toit*   20 (31 balls)
Parkinson   21 (76 balls)
Last Wicket: Tzaneen c. Yarwood b. Mcgreal 40 (FOW: 285/6)

I've nudged ahead... but precious little battng after these two and Parkinson is struggling to say the least. Just hoping for 360 and five bonus points now - although 400 would be nice Wink

Looked that way at 298-3 at 5+ per over but a spell of 5-5 from fast bowler sent them spinning to 316-8.

So ideal scenario now would be for loads of tight overs without taking the last two wickets both taking time out of the game and leaving me able to overtake his total tomorrow.

End of Over 75 (Maiden). Cumbria: 335-8, runrate=4.47
Lead by 115 runs. (Athletico Foxy 220-10)
Shipp 15-3-47-2
Cunningham* 105 (110 balls)
Nugent 3 (26 balls)

Last Wicket: Bomani c. Hutchison b. Sam 0 (FOW: 316/8)

I managed to bowl out the stubborn resistance of the oppostion for 199.
With a lead of 281 i've made them follow on.
I'd ideally like 3 wickets before the end of play today.

My game has taken an unexpected twist..my bowlers have knocked over his top order quickstyle.  The draw layers will be happy Smiley.  It looks as though I'll be chasing a fairly modest total to win the match assuming his tail doesn't put up some heroic resistance.

End of Over 19 (3 runs). Henley Town: 51-5, runrate=2.68 (1st Inn: 339-10)
Lead by 179 runs. (KBOTW 211-10)
Talamini 1-0-3-0
Griffith* 6 (21 balls)
Fenoughty 11 (38 balls)

Last Wicket: Thirlwell lbw b. Cranie 11 (FOW: 38/5)

The overcast and cold conditions have obviously played into the bowlers hands.  I have partially cloudy and humid to look forward to tomorrow...the sunshine is coming a day to late.

Given the way wickets have fallen today I'm hoping his tail manages to block for the next few overs.

End of Over 29 (Maiden). Henley Town: 63-8, runrate=2.17 (1st Inn: 339-10)
Lead by 191 runs. (KBOTW 211-10)
