Spurs score early, Robbie Keane on 19 minutes ... then chelsea dominate as spurs sit back and let them come at them.... 1-0 spurs half time.

Second half and chelsea come out all guns blazing, yet Berbatov scores from 20 yards in the 63rd minute following some superb link up play with Jenas... 2-0 Spurs

Chelsea score late on 81st minute to ensure a tense nervous last 10, but Spurs hold on and lift the cup.

Chelsea 1-2 Spurs

C.O.Y.S.

Absolutely no chance we would win on penalties.

Spurs to win AET 1-0 - Ramos to be lorded for his amazing fitness regime.

Robinson will save a Pen - Robinson for England bandwagon begins to trundle forwards.

Spurs fans will become intolerable.

Chelsea 1-0, Anelka midway through the 2nd half.

If Chelsea take the lead in this game I can only see 1 result, as they are pretty good at killing a game.

LOL who cares

Not losing semi finalists obv.

perhaps you should care though ... League cup ... OUT
                                                 FA Cup            OUT
Champions league AS GOOD AS OUT
Premier League   3 points ahead but will bottle it.

Post by: dan on February 24, 2008, 12:37:01 PM
Kev, losing the semi final has no bearing on not caring. I was more dissapointed at not winning yesterday than I was after losing to Spurs in the semis.

The league cup was very low down on our prioties this, and any other, season. Yet Dawson described it as the biggest game of his and many other Spurs players careers.

We are out the Fa cup, yes but again was hardly top of the list. The Champions league "as good as out" Maybe, maybe not I thought before the tie started it would be a coinflip who went through I still beleive that.

Premier League " 3 points clear and will bottle it" Again maybe, maybe not but this was supposed to be the season Spurs broke into the big 4 in place of Arsenal. We sold Henry, you spent £40m in the summer and another £25m in January yet you are as far behind as ever. I am loving the fact we are 3 points clear with 11 games left with a real chance of winning the league.

Enjoy the Carling Cup and UEFA Cup it is as good as it gets at N17. ;)

Not many I times I say this but Come on Chelsea

I can't make up my mind on this one so I have done the following bet:

Chelsea Win 1- 0, 2 - 0, 2- 1
Spurs Win - 2 - 1, 2 - 0, 3 - 1

I just hope its a good game.  Ohh and pray that Gretna somehow find a miracle winner at the Reichstag today.

Post by: turny on February 24, 2008, 01:48:30 PM
ok seeing as i started the thread i spose i better put my predictions.

chelsea 3 spurs 0

cagey start with ballack scoring just before half time.

2nd half and just after berbatov hits the bar chelsea break and anelka makes it 2 0.

spurs then lose discipline and have woodgate sent of for fouling drogba.

chelsea score late when peta cech scores from a goalkick that robinson misjudges and bounces over his head.

shame the games not at 3 point lane i would predict 6-0!

...and yesterday he could have gone down and won a penalty and got the Boro defender sent off, but he tried to stay on his feet.

Most players go to ground to win a free kick.  Very few have turned it into an art form like Drogba and Cole.

Possibly

My issue with this whole diving thing is the way the premier league is officiated. Because of the english game, and the way the refs tend to let hard challenges go, the foreign players tend to make the dive / foul look worse to make sure they get the free kick. What annoys people more is that these talented (very talented) footballers, need to dive/make a takle look worse than it is. Ronaldo is IMO the best player in the premiership, yet sometimes he dives around like hes been shot.

I just found it funny... Cech hoof's the ball, normally if a ref was going to blow a whistle he does it when its in the air.. But he let's Drogba nod it on so one of Chelsea is through and then blows, as though, he realised he made a mistake and better blow before it goes in!

Not close, Brazil vs Sweden in the 78 world cup (i think might have been 74). Brazil actually had the ball in the net, when the referee chalked it off.

Believe exactly the same thing happend in a wimbledon game a few years back.

Oh and well done Spurs.

I just found it funny... Cech hoof's the ball, normally if a ref was going to blow a whistle he does it when its in the air.. But he let's Drogba nod it on so one of Chelsea is through and then blows, as though, he realised he made a mistake and better blow before it goes in!

Credit to the referee, he made a mistake and sorted it before there was a problem.... and it never went in anyway, he missed.. !!!

One of the best games i have seen in a LONG while.... Wp Spurs.. Most contraversial final whistle blowing of all time ?

Not close, Brazil vs Sweden in the 78 world cup (i think might have been 74). Brazil actually had the ball in the net, when the referee chalked it off.

Ah yes, Clive 'The Book' Thomas was the ref in that game.

The score is 1-1, and Brazil have a corner. The corner is crossed in, and the ref blows for full time whilst the ball is in the air. Zico heads the ball in the net but it's too late.

congratulations to spurs the best team won.

grants first mistakes as a chelsea manager  sending the team out with no shape. i hope it iisnt the sign of things to come trying to play anelka and drogba together punished the team in other posiitions especially midfield where we were rubbish.

correct to recall lampard and terry who run there nuts off, essien was ok  but mikel and wright phillips what an awful choice!
should of been makele and cole or ballack from the start. the first substitution should have been cole for mikel not kalou for essien.

cech a little at fault for the 2nd goal but a little exposes by the defending and a tad unlucky it ricochet off woodgate.

but over 90 mins spurs were the better side and deserve the cup.

About 6:10 in, you have to sit through a bit of Germans cheating and Scotland failing in the world cup but such is the entertainment of the tournament.

Absolutely delighted for Robbie Keane, he thoroughly deserves a winners medal.

Well done spurs-better team won-chelsea just didn't seem to turn up today- think it was ridiculous that cole didnt feature at all in the 1st 90 minutes! Wright-phillips had an absolute shocker and should have been off far earlier-even at half time!

He looked well gutted...boyhood heroes, not won a trophy in a while, chance to play in spurs biggest game of the decade-feel sorry for him not to have even made the bench

Although O'hara has played a few games for us this season. This is only because of the injuries to Ekkto and Bale. O'hara is definitely not good enough for us.

He isn't that good. Once Bale and BAE are fit, along with Gilberto, I can see O'hara being sold in the summer; as he has absolutely zero chance in being a 1st team regular.

Well done Spurs.

I can't believe people think playing Lampard was a good idea..he did nothing for Chelsea all afternoon...John "Stab you in the back" Terry was OK but nothing more than that. In fact Chelsea were piss poor the entire match..there was never anything even remotely interesting happening.

lol@ playing 433 with Anelka on the wing...didn't Mourinho get the sack for playing boring footie?

Spurs definetly deserved to win the game but it was a very boring match as one of the teams simply didn't show up.

I agree, I think Grant got it wrong with this. Either play 442 with Anelka up top with Drogba or 451/433 with J Cole and SWP either wing.

PMSL Ashley Cole didnt even make the bench.

I also don't like to see players who have played round after round on the way to the final then dropped when it gets to the big game

Team after team does it, this time the likes of Alex, Ben Haim, Sidwell and Sinclair were nowhere to be seen whilst the big names were ushered in

Anelka, in particular looked v v sulky out on the wing

The incredible sulk was certainly living up to his name.  I don't see the point of sticking him out wide and leaving Cole on the bench.  Made no sense, and certainly didn't work.

All the managers seem to do it though.  Rafa plays players out of position regularly.  Grant did it yesterday.  Maureen did it often, and even resorted to Huth up front on a few occasions as a sub, and Geremi at right back (very unsuccessfully).  Not sure if Wenger does it too often though, but Fergie has used Rooney out of position, and I'm sure Alan Smith wasn't used in his best position by him.   Sven did it with the England team all the time.

They know more than I do, so who am I to say it's wrong :dontask: ?

huth was only put up front in emergency if we were losing and needed a target man late in a game, i dont recall it happening on many occasions.

as for geremi at right back i actually feel he played some of his best gaames for chelsea in that position.

i agree though that joe cole wide would have been a far more better option than playing anelka there
