Why not?

Personally think he needs to gather the experience but its not the worse choice.  Lenny knows the game inside out and he has the passion that Celtic are sadly missing.

Before I read this thread I had just posted on a Celtic forum that we need to get someone in who has as much hatred for the H**s as they have for us, thats the only thing Sally and Watty have over us when it comes down to players there is no doubt in my mind that Celtic have the better squad what we lack is a bit of fire that they have.  Lennon will bring that back  as a coach.

Lennon is less funny than John Barnes.

Didnt Lennon get booed and death threats from Celtic fans?! Can't keep up with Celtic, I'll stick with my normal club!

I personally do not think that Lennon has it in him (yet). I would much prefer if Celtic kept Strachan and if that goes belly up and they sack him then...

Good shout Nem.

Lenny could be being 'trained' up as the next manager. Wouldnt be the worst choice in the world.

Seen that celtic are playing spurs, but didnt see the dates or location. do u know?

Exactly mate, we have no passion or desire.  Go through the teams player for player when the best starting 11 play and Celtic have the better team, look at the back up on the bench and you'll see that Celtic have a better class of player in reserve.

We have let ourselves down by not showing that battling spirit that the orcs have shown this season, look at the league over the past few years and we have had it wrapped up with 6 games or so to go - Rangers didn't become a better team overnight - they installed 2 guys who hate everything Celtic, they have fostered a team spirit akin to that of  their 9-in-a-row team .

Up here mate it all comes down to mentality.  Rangers have a mentality this season thats been missing for the last 2 years they had no leadership or direction.

Neil Lennon will install that drive, focus and passion into this existing squad of Celtic players.

I now actually believe that although we are effectively 9 points behind that we can win the league.

C'mon the HOOPS!!!

And if we do win the title that should not give Strachan a reprieve, he must still be replaced.

I'm not a fan of O'Neil mate he had his time and was good thats it.  Strachan should never have been allowed anywhere near Celtic park when he suggested that Aiden McGeady "go play in Ireland if he wants to play for that National team" on the BBC.  This came at a time when Aiden was under increased pressure from the sectarian Scottish media and the nieanderthals at every Scottish ground.

Its not just about winning you know, yes it helps but the mindset with Strahan is all wrong when he says says the the fans are "kestrel drinking neds" or tells players who are gash that "its only my opinion that counts" or when he goes to the Nou Camp knowing there are 10,000 or so fans there and plays one up top when he knows we need to win by two clear goals, or even when he goes to Ibrox and drops our top scorer in a must win game, or continually plays Gary Caldwell to the detriment of the team, banishes a young player because he pumped strachans daughter etc etc the list is endless.

He has never been wanted by the majority of our support and now those who did welcome him are turning on him as well.

Neil Lennon has re-joined celtic with immeadiate effect as asst coach................

Next Celtic Manager?

Love it ...... No coaching skills from fifa or even a module from belfast college in sports . I Do respect him as a player but what can he teach anyone at c*lt*c how to  pass a ball 10 yards after holding it for 2 secs . All I think he his brought in for is to get the fans back on wee gingers side . Its all about restoring pride in a fan base that is turning against a manager that has brought them to the best europe standings and 2 league titles in a row

No coaching badges, really?

Ohh and since when did you need a badge to know how to coach the game, there have been many successful managers/coaches who got by without such badges in anycase.

Regardless if Lennon has been brought back to take the heat off Strachan it may just work.

Remind me why McCoist and Smith are back at Rangers - its surely not for that free flowing attacking football that the fans crave.

Why on earth would he take the celtic job to manage in a 2 team league he supposedly was approached about the newcastle job and wasn't interested so very much doubt the celtic job would appeal to him.

As for fat sam yes bolton will wish the still had him as they probably wouldn't have got relegated(which it seems they are going to be) and that was good enough not sure however that celtic fans would be happy with the poor football you would be watching and dont expect to win any away games(he feels a draw away is always a good result)

Typical english misconception imo. Celtic & Rangers are two massive clubs, the pressure and challenge to win the 'two team league' is immense. They are expected, rightly or wrongly to win every game and evey competition they enter, thats why a manager like Mark Hughes might accept the job.

depends on how you judge big

newcastle have more money, play in a better league, have better players, are a 1 team city

celtic have world wide fan base, history , but what else?

not a dig at celtic as same applies to rangers

Title: Re: New Celtic Manager?

celtic & rangers play in europe every year, win trophies every year more or less, have big stadiums, big worldwide fam base. thats how i define big.

Post by: mondatoo on April 06, 2008, 06:52:50 PM
Celtic and rangers are both massive worldwide recognised clubs but the problem is they play in a shit league where the quality is poor(except for the 2 forementioned).I dont see any point in getting in to a debate about the size of the different clubs apoligies if any offense taken as wasnt ment just the league is very poor imho.

All three of them would have no chance of finishing top 4 in prem in at least there 1st 2 years.Liverpool are 4th best team in the prem and are clearly a lot better team than all of these 3.
