Title: EPT To Hit Channel Four Post by: snoopy1239 on May 23, 2008, 04:11:33 PM Incoming news: The EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo is to be broadcast on Channel Four this month. Personally, I hope this revitalises televised poker, but I'm not sure....

My hope is that they get enough viewers to trigger a full season's coverage on terrestrial TV as I don't currently have Sky and would love to watch it. However, it will be tricky with that late slot. Title: Re: EPT To Hit Channel Four Post by: TightEnd on May 23, 2008, 04:32:09 PM It could well be that Channel 4 have acquired the rights for virtually nothing. After all ad revenue in those slots will be at the low end of the rate card

Title: Re: EPT To Hit Channel Four Post by: HARRY MALACHI on May 23, 2008, 06:21:35 PM Good work Snoopy. The coverage of the EPT Grand Final does start on C4 next week and yes (fanfare) could revitalise televised poker........if people watch it. Tell all your mates, tell them to tell all their mates, and if enough people watch it, televised 'tournament' poker will prosper.
so it's C4 MONDAY 26TH MAY 00.25, THURSDAY 29TH MAY 00.30 AND SATURDAY 31ST MAY 00.05 The players are good, the pokers good, the prize money's phenomenal, they are some cracking hands in it (Esfandiari v Rasmussen...all time great) and you'll like it I promise. Pleeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaseeeeeeeeeeee watch it. The Revolution will not be televised??? YES IT WILL. If enough people watch this next week, the Poker revolution starts here and it will be televised. so put that in your pipe and smoke it. It's a statistically significant sample size, and therefore they can work out the national figures to a degree of certainty (which is why they usually give the figures with +-5%). I don't see how it could be random enough to be accurate to be honest. I've haven't met one person in my lifetime who has been part of this sample. What about environments outside the home? How do they measure them? Eg a casino where a number of people could be watching a poker show? Title: Re: EPT To Hit Channel Four Post by: kinboshi on May 25, 2008, 02:20:07 PM I believe that 5,100 households is the sample size. 25 million households in the UK.
It's unlikely you'll be part of the sample. Not sure how they work out/guess the number of people watching in pubs/clubs, etc. Title: Re: EPT To Hit Channel Four Post by: kinboshi on May 25, 2008, 02:22:28 PM Yes, they do use a sample of 5,100 households:

'why would you shove A3s on Ax Xs Xs flop?' errr he had ridic amounts of FE and basically the nuts, why wouldn't you. Then when BeepBeepImAJeep 3bet jammed T8o on a JJ7 she 'loved that play' just because Kalo conveniently had 26s. Il lay 100000/1 tht if he had J4o or something she abuses the hell out of it. Have to agree with the Chili Dog....Miss Coren is a OK as a lead commentator ( James Hartington does that well too) but as an expert analyst she ain't to hot...anybody else think that the Canadian guy played his pocket pair (Sixes I think) well against Luca Pagano?...IMO his play was awful but... not according to Vicky. Smug, patronising comments are not going to make the show appealing...honest constructive comments may, after all this tournament showcases some of the top players in the World...the commentary should reflect that.
