Title: Re: 80's cd prop bet Post by: thetank on July 31, 2008, 02:35:56 AM You'll probably put together a stonking CD, but if 11 randoms are judging, I fear their tastes will be for the more commercial tunes that you're trying to avoid. Best CD might lose the bet.
Good luck though, I hope I'm wrong. Title: Re: 80's cd prop bet Post by: suzanne on July 31, 2008, 02:46:27 AM Is there a judge in this prop bet? Sorry I was mid game and didnt read properly. Jack and Diane I actually love (one of my first singles I bought myself) good pick IMO :D Title: Re: 80's cd prop bet Post by: Claw75 on July 31, 2008, 10:44:27 PM Matt's just had 15 minute music lesson via the medium of youtube. he think the pixies are ok coz they did a song about a monkey :)
Title: Re: 80's cd prop bet Post by: matt674 on July 31, 2008, 10:57:55 PM i cant help it if i missed most of the early 80's living abroad - then only remembering vagues bits about the rest of the decade. So my musical tastes are a little off track!
having listened to them on youtube still dont know 82, the smiths are 83 and as soon as i hear his voice i want to throw myself off a cliff lemming style. i wish i'd never heard 84, i now vaguely remember the chorus of 86. Still think 88 is sung by a bloke even though Claire put the video on youtube and dont recognize 89 either (though now i get the reference on the thread about having a pixies song being played when i visit the big jungle under the ground!) and yes i can sing the whole of the Um Bongo TV ad.......... ;whistle; Title: Re: 80's cd prop bet Post by: Maxriddles on July 31, 2008, 11:21:14 PM Can't believe how few posts have the Stone Roses for 1989, they are an absolute must. she bangs the drums looks like a banker for the 1989 slot ;iagree; Title: Re: 80's cd prop bet Post by: kinboshi on July 31, 2008, 11:25:26 PM Can't believe how few posts have the Stone Roses for 1989, they are an absolute must. she bangs the drums looks like a banker for the 1989 slot ;iagree; Fools Gold Title: Re: 80's cd prop bet Post by: ShatnerPants on August 01, 2008, 02:33:02 PM Complete a CD of 12 track from the 1980's have no more than one artist/group on any song have a song from each year of the 80's we will hand the cd's out to randoms and ask to jusge the best cd (11 cd's each) All that and you don't want anything too 'poppy' Well, I've held my breath, and seen the good, the bad, and the bloody rediculous posted, so here's my tuppence worth. Again, I'm not putting down my faves,, and I've tried not to copy too many of other peoples ideas, but hopefully something that might help go ftw. It can be changed about 4 times over depending on personal taste, but I hope you like a few of them anyway...... Too much too young - Specials - 1980. Fascist Groove Thang - Heaven 17 - 1981 Town Called Malice - Jam - 1982 Earth Dies Screaming - UB40 - 1980 This is Not a Love Song - PIL - 1983 E=MC2 - BAD - 1986 What Difference - Smiths - 1984 Shout - Tears for Fears - 1985 With or Without You - U2 - 1987 Need You Tonight - INXS - 1988 Poison - Alice Cooper - 1989 Fools Gold - Stone Roses - 1989 I'm happy with it up until What Difference, but then it all went a bit fuzzy until fools Gold. They're all good tracks though, but I'm not sure how they'd gel on a cd together. Still........ |
