Title: Scammed Post by: Amatay on August 14, 2008, 06:51:51 PM The following is what i have bascially just written on my blog. Anyone got any thoughts or suggestions on this and how i can get my dosh back? I would appreciate it if you could reply both here and on my blog please to show me some support, cheers.
Edited ... your blog is clickable through the link in your sig ... no need to name names on the forum... this is a collective mods decision. Title: Re: Scammed Post by: sovietsong on August 14, 2008, 06:57:56 PM Pretty sick to get scammed by somebody you consider a friend, not really sure what you can do other than what you have already.
Title: Re: Scammed Post by: Longy on August 14, 2008, 06:58:19 PM Sry to hear this mate.
I think you have done the right thing outting him once it became obvious that he had grimmed you. As for getting the money back, this is going to be tricky. I doubt you don't have any legal rights in such a situation, though the fact you have home addresses and phone numbers allows you to pressure him into making amends. Hope you get your money back. Title: Re: Scammed Post by: Hairydude on August 14, 2008, 07:01:48 PM Well if you have emails/posts etc that he is going to send the money could this not be used as evidence; call the police- you have his name, address and telephone number-I think it could be classed as theft since you will have emails/posts/msn chat logs stating he is willing to do swap

Best of luck getting the money back mate. Ohh and I wouldn't post on the web that you plan on visiting him if he does go to the cops then that could be used as evidence of threatening behavior. But Are you capable of walking up to his front door, breaking it down, beating the crap out of him, and taking his stuff to the tune of £500 quid. And then selling it on. Coz I know I'm not, and it wouldn't surprise me from your reaction, if you're not too. It'll be a waste of time turning up expecting him to have the money there ready for you. He probably didn't intend to shaft you, and he's spunked the money away on something, or he's tilted it away. Alternatively he's been planning this for ages and has had every intention to shaft you all along, in which case he's not going to break down just because he sees your face at his doorstep. Dunno what I'd suggest you do, except say think it through, consequences and all. If you 'have a word' and he then gets the police involved, you'll be the one with the record, not him. Is £500 worth that sort of baggage to you ? Gl with whatever you decide. Sorry if i have offended anyone??? I feel abit of a prat now :-( Its just the fish who had my money really angered me. You have not offended me one iota. I have just seen so much bad blood, bad vibes, & negativity, arising from Blog Mud-Slinging. Nobody ever wins, everybody loses. Always. We have seen more than enough examples recently - I imagine all parties regret it in the fullness of time. These things are best sorted out in private - they just are. But that's just my personal opinion - each to their own, of course. But if I wanna sort something, I won't go hooting & hollering on Blogs - I'll make direct contact, or via an intermediary. The only reason Amatay has got his money is because the bloke didnt want to become a poker outcast. If whats on the blog is true that he has been lying about the whole thing then he deserves a roasting. At the end of the day Amatay was good enough to send him the money. Even if his internet was playing up how hard is it to get a message to someone. If it was me, i would have been round a mates house to make sure Amatay knew exactly what was going on and sent the lad a cheque. Im always happy to help people out but unfortunately its rarely a great idea when the money is used to fund gambling. As for the Fish Fathers blog i think its about time he had his own column in The Daily Sport! For those that read Amatay's blog, that's just his style of writing. All his posts are like that, and it's quite entertaining at times. In the end though, the guy owed him money, didn't pay when he said he would, didn't get in contact and only payed once it had gone public. Good to see you got paid in the end.
