Title: Where should I stay in Vegas? Post by: Woodsey on October 15, 2008, 03:06:45 AM FFS I can't make my mind up where to stay when I go next week for 10 days. At the moment I have all three of these hotels booked (LOL) and I have to decide by Sunday which not to cancel.
My Thoughts are:- Venetian $1890- Stayed there before, lovely hotel and rooms, opposite where my friends are staying, will hardly be in the room, so is $1890 a waste of money when it could be put to better use on the tables LOL? http://www.venetian.com/ Casino Royale $773- Also Stayed there before, bit rundown but has been totally overhauled in last couple of months so now newish rooms. Virtually opposite where my friends are staying, cheap gambling for my non-gambling friends (for free booze purposes LOL). 30 secs from room to front door of casino so no getting lost, ha ha! Subway sandwich shop 20 yards from room and 24hr Denny's 40 yards from room, but no in room internet. Nobody seems to know this Casino exists because it doesnt appear on hotel searches like expedia etc, but IMO its the best cheap hotel center strip other that Bill's (Imperial Palace is truly crap). http://www.casinoroyalehotel.com/ Flamingo $752- My original choice and have stayed there before aswell. Nice hotel and rooms for the price based on my previous action with them LOL. Wasn't going to consider anywhere else TBH as i really like it here, but it is a 8-10 min walk from where my friends are staying, which will be a pain inevitably. Will end up whining when I'm hung over cus I have to walk half a mile to meet my friends, or when I just fancy an hour round the shops or whatever with them. http://www.harrahs.com/casinos/flamingo-las-vegas/hotel-casino/property-home.shtml Help me out dudes. Don't suggest anywhere else, have been to vegas loads of times so know the options just help me round this one down please! Title: Re: Where should I stay in Vegas? Title: Re: Where should I stay in Vegas? Post by: 77dave on October 15, 2008, 03:26:22 AM venetian was fully booked yesterday, big convention in town, rooms were going for $700 per night
Flamingo is a good hotel for price location and quality only a short walk to the venetian or TI Title: Re: Where should I stay in Vegas? Post by: Woodsey on October 15, 2008, 03:27:41 AM yep 10 days
Standard price for Casino royale, I wouldn't take a chick here, but OK for you with the boys. Venetian- Do google search for codes for special deals. You will probably get 20%ish off standard rate plus whatever other deals. I have a 100% match of any bet up to $50 each day I'm there and some other free booze offer and entry into nightclub without waiting. Flamingo- Only got that price becauce of previous action with them. Title: Re: Where should I stay in Vegas? Also their website is terrible so you will have to call them for prices. I strongly recommend you look at http://www.billslasvegas.com/ its is $650 for the days you are looking at, and the rooms are the best of all we have mentioned for the money by far. Trust me, I have stayed in them all and the location is perfect. Title: Re: Where should I stay in Vegas? Title: Re: Where should I stay in Vegas? Post by: Woodsey on October 15, 2008, 04:06:06 AM If you just want somewhere to kip the IP is fine, I'd be inclined to pay the extra for the newer deluxe rooms or whatever they call them, don't stay in the classic rooms they are pretty poor.

IP Classic Room Casino Royale IP Deluxe Room In that order, from what I've heard excalibur is fine if you want to play on that end of the strip. PS Trust me on day 4 of poker, win or lose you will have had enough of it. Stay somewhere where you have an escape to do something else whatever is it. You might think I'm talking crap but I love poker and it happens to me every single time and I've been there lots! Title: Re: Where should I stay in Vegas? PH to Binions is a bloody long walk mate you can jump on the deuce (bus) or its easier (and far quicker) to take a taxi. Title: Re: Where should I stay in Vegas? Post by: The_nun on October 15, 2008, 09:54:59 AM Last time I was there there was the $5 24 hour bus pass. Use as many times within that period. Takes ages to get to the strip on day traffic tho via this way.

What sort of price per person would we be lookning at for 7 days, flights and hotel? $1600 - $1800? Its a mix of poker players and non-players...

You will do it for that easy, just book your flight asap as it will be cheapest that way. Also book a hotel soon but do it direct with the hotel. If you do that you can look around closer to the time for better deals that may be around and cancel the one you have booked and not lose any deposit. If you don't find a better offer then at least you already something sorted. Title: Re: Where should I stay in Vegas? I've stayed at both and I would put casino royale on a par with the deluxe rooms at IP. I phoned C Royale last night and they have just refurbished the rooms aswell. Nothing wrong with C Royale IMO and I'm pretty fussy and am used to staying at top notch places with work. Title: Re: Where should I stay in Vegas? Post by: Woodsey on October 15, 2008, 05:04:13 PM Ha Ha, 4 votes for each option, you lot are useless........
Right got it sorted and booked. The events at Binions have influenced my decision. So I have now booked 3 nights at the Golden Nuggett, followed by 7 nights at the Venetian starting the day my friends arrive. It knocks the price down considerably at the Venetian as that first weekend is pretty expensive there. I'm looking forward to having a couple of days downtown actually, I always go for a day when I'm in Vegas and it means I can play 2 $500 events before my friends arrive. Title: Re: Where should I stay in Vegas? Post by: NoflopsHomer on October 15, 2008, 05:06:12 PM Orleans imo.
Title: Re: Where should I stay in Vegas? Post by: Woodsey on October 15, 2008, 05:08:19 PM Orleans imo. Not an option on this trip, too far from where my friends are staying. I agree good value hotel though. Title: Re: Where should I stay in Vegas? Post by: phatbhoy on October 15, 2008, 08:58:58 PM Woodsey would you pick the 500d game at binions on the friday or the caesars classic 500d game?
cheers Steven Title: Re: Where should I stay in Vegas? Post by: Woodsey on October 15, 2008, 09:10:21 PM Well I'll be playing both as the Binions event is a one dayer taking place on the thursday, with the Caesars one the next day on the friday. If its one or the other then I think field size will be the biggest difference, I phoned Binions last night and they don't think they will get more than 150 players. I reckon at the caesars one you will be looking at nearer 500 players possibly more and its a 2 day event.
Title: Re: Where should I stay in Vegas? Post by: phatbhoy on October 16, 2008, 12:39:20 PM Is the Binions one not a Friday? Going for a cheaper hotel at the weekend saves a lot of $$. fwiw last time I was there I did something similar, but further down The Strip. Got a super cheap midweek deal at MGM then crossed the walkway to Tropicana for the weekend. Was still only a 5 minute walk to the MGM cardroom. Never stayed in The Venetian but if the rooms are as opulent as the public areas you are in for a treat. Title: Re: Where should I stay in Vegas? Post by: Woodsey on October 18, 2008, 01:26:33 PM Its alot more expensive on the dates I'm staying. Also my mates are staying across the road at Treasure Island and I want to be as close as possible to them, and Bills is 7-8 mins walk away. Bills is the best of the 'budget' hotels in that area and he was considering spending $750 at the imperial Palace, so he would be way better spending the extra $60 for Bills as the rooms are pretty nice.
Title: Re: Where should I stay in Vegas? Post by: WackyDUK on October 18, 2008, 01:49:02 PM Ahhh the higher rate explains it then and reading your earlier post again you dont want to walk. I dont mind the stroll.
I asked as I am looking to go out for Xmas and at $400 for the week I was wondering how good/bad it was so thanks for your advice. I have stayed @ Mirage previously but was looing for a cheaper option as to be honest I found the mirage rooms to be a bit "tired" last time I stayed there. I had heard comments about the Imperial Palace being basic and feared Bills may be the same. Looks as though Bills will be a bargain then so thank-you as I wouldnt have considered it before seeing your post. Good luck on your forthcoming trip! Title: Re: Where should I stay in Vegas? I have stayed at most of the hotels around that area and its deffo the best of the cheaper options with by far the nicest rooms. Also its got a very short walk from your room to the front of the casino unlike the bigger properties which might seem a minor point, but makes a big difference when your going back and forth alot over a week and you just want to get somewhere quickly.
