Ha Ha, 4 votes for each option, you lot are useless........
Right got it sorted and booked. The events at Binions have influenced my decision. So I have now booked 3 nights at the Golden Nuggett, followed by 7 nights at the Venetian starting the day my friends arrive. It knocks the price down considerably at the Venetian as that first weekend is pretty expensive there. I'm looking forward to having a couple of days downtown actually, I always go for a day when I'm in Vegas and it means I can play 2 $500 events before my friends arrive.

Orleans imo.
Not an option on this trip, too far from where my friends are staying. I agree good value hotel though.

Well I'll be playing both as the Binions event is a one dayer taking place on the thursday, with the Caesars one the next day on the friday. If its one or the other then I think field size will be the biggest difference, I phoned Binions last night and they don't think they will get more than 150 players. I reckon at the caesars one you will be looking at nearer 500 players possibly more and its a 2 day event.

Is the Binions one not a Friday? If the casears on is 500 runners I think i will go for that may as well play another big field tourni after the IPO this weekend. Just need to check the dates as I need to keep the boss happy!!!

Smart move. Going for a cheaper hotel at the weekend saves a lot of $$.
fwiw last time I was there I did something similar, but further down The Strip. Got a super cheap midweek deal at MGM then crossed the walkway to Tropicana for the weekend. Was still only a 5 minute walk to the MGM cardroom.
Never stayed in The Venetian but if the rooms are as opulent as the public areas you are in for a treat.

The Binions one is on a friday, the caesars one is the next day which is saturday. The event your looking at on the friday at caesars is PL holdem and omaha mixed $500, just recheck to make sure you have got your dates right.

Cost aside, I'm playing an event or two downtown this time and I just fancy a change TBH, I always get sick of the strip when I there for this length of time. I've stayed at the venetian a couple of time before actually and the rooms are really nice, with a nice comfy sofa which is a bonus as far as I'm concerned. LOL- I went super deep in the stars 80k last night and thought if I ship the 14k I'm gonna upgrade to the best suite they have, oh well next time maybe.

Its alot more expensive on the dates I'm staying. Also my mates are staying across the road at Treasure Island and I want to be as close as possible to them, and Bills is 7-8 mins walk away. Bills is the best of the 'budget' hotels in that area and he was considering spending $750 at the imperial Palace, so he would be way better spending the extra $60 for Bills as the rooms are pretty nice.

Ahhh the higher rate explains it then and reading your earlier post again you dont want to walk. I dont mind the stroll.
I asked as I am looking to go out for Xmas and at $400 for the week I was wondering how good/bad it was so thanks for your advice.
I have stayed @ Mirage previously but was looing for a cheaper option as to be honest I found the mirage rooms to be a bit "tired" last time I stayed there. I had heard comments about the Imperial Palace being basic and feared Bills may be the same.
Looks as though Bills will be a bargain then so thank-you as I wouldnt have considered it before seeing your post.
Good luck on your forthcoming trip!

No worries mate. I have stayed at most of the hotels around that area and its deffo the best of the cheaper options with by far the nicest rooms. Also its got a very short walk from your room to the front of the casino unlike the bigger properties which might seem a minor point, but makes a big difference when your going back and forth alot over a week and you just want to get somewhere quickly.

Another hijack of the thread. Looking to go around February/March. Going with the Mrs and another non poker playing friend of hers.
Want somewhere acceptable to take the Wife, so not to grotty!! and fairly central
Planning to go around same time as a Venetian Deep Stack (Havent yet got their dates for early 2009)
Any suggestions/pointers would be appreciated
